Pretty much everyone has had a real terms pay cut over the last 15 years. State sector and public sector. Everyone. Junior doctors were worse hit than most other groups, but they have been offered a 22% pay rise. And yet that’s not enough. The NHS is not part private funded like Australia etc, it’s publicly funded and wages reflect that. If the junior doctors didn’t like the conditions the NHS can offer, they shouldn’t have taken a training place in the UK and a medicine place in a UK university.
The BMA have lost the plot. Droves of members are leaving over both these strikes and their ludicrous decision to reject the findings of the Cass review. Pathetic, greedy fools.
