So I’m not sure why her brother’s choice or not to have an environmentally friendly wedding has anything to do with her.

Because it shows her utter hypocrisy that she and her ilk will sabotage other people’s weddings, delay people attending them, berate people for reliance on oil/fossil fuels - but she would have gone on to attend her brother’s wedding overseas involving air travel.

Her brother can do what he likes - but for her and her mother to decry prison sentence because she cannot now attend just show the dissonance.

People are just parroting what they have been told by the press and focusing all their attention on this one tiny detail

How easy it is to make the public hate a woman still astounds me.

You’re prone to hyperbole somewhat. You think posters don’t have free will and we are all malleable and manipulated? Oh I see, only Cressida et al are unencumbered of parroting and being told what to do by media. She’s a messianic warrior speaking to all us poor thickos and sheepies who are media manipulated. BUT she wanted to manipulate opinion and use media reporting of their disruption to promote her ideological belief

BodAlberto · 26/07/2024 15:20

I have no time for JSO.

I do wonder though how people would react if the mother didn’t have a ‘posh’ accent. Their economic privilege seems to be driving most of the hate here. I would argue that their actions were hideously disruptive regardless of their socioeconomic sfatus.

And goodness, whilst my young adult kids would never do this, if they ever do go off the rails/get in trouble in the future, will it still be my fault for ‘raising a brat’? How long am I culpable as their mum?!

BunfightBetty · 26/07/2024 15:21

AngeloMysterioso · 26/07/2024 11:16

How many people missed weddings, funerals, chemotherapy appointments, job interviews or whatever else thanks to her tomfuckery??

This. Tough shit.

I don’t discriminate in my contempt for those who prevent others from reaching important appointments such as hospital treatment, regardless of their accent, class or economic status.

Their ‘economic privilege’ is what affords them the time and effort to do what they do. Students buoyed up by mummy and daddy, pensioners who have money behind them and time on their hands.

Why don’t you see single mothers in minimum wage jobs wasting their time on these stunts? Do they not care about climate change? No, they’re too busy trying to feed their kids and keep roofs over their heads. Not limited to single mothers obviously.

ruffler45 · 26/07/2024 15:27

oh dear how sad never mind move on

She is big and grown up and made her choices,

Applesonthelawn · 26/07/2024 15:30

I think her mother's message just makes it clear why the daughter seems so entitled. And I am not sensitive to economic privilege at all (it's the norm round here), just to children raised to believe they are special when they really are not.

Butchyrestingface · 26/07/2024 15:30

If I were a relative in the car with the poor person with aggressive cancer travelling to an appointment they consequently missed (and had to wait 2 months for another appointment), there's a strong possibility I'd also be in the dock for committing a serious assault.

I'm surprised none of these people have yet came to harm as a result of their actions.

Monkeysatonthewall · 26/07/2024 15:35

Not a JSO protester planning to FLY to her brother's wedding... 🤣 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I knew they are utter idiots but that's a new level!

Tik tok algorithms I think. I've seen Cressida's mum's video multiple times, his only once. It's a bit unpredicatable.

Oh I'd say it's entirely predictable the TikTok algorithm would think a mum would be more rage-baity than a dad.

I saw a video of a woman taking her child to hospital begging those absolute *** to move out of the way and they didn't.

Would not be judging her had she decided to punch them.

Supergirl1958 · 26/07/2024 15:38

No sympathy. She stopped people from getting to life saving treatment! She deserves to miss her brothers wedding!

AzureAnt · 26/07/2024 15:45

Oh boohoo she got a taste of her own medicine didn't she 🤣🤣🤣

VotesForWomen · 26/07/2024 15:49

This is just the Express doing what tabloids do best. Stirring to provoke outrage.

cryinglaughing · 26/07/2024 15:49

Absolutely no sympathy!
Every action has a consequence, she's quite old to have only just realised that 🤣

Izzynohopanda · 26/07/2024 15:49

What relevance is a wedding to attend? I’m sure there’s lots of prisoners who have missed family occasions due to being inside. I don’t imagine the protesters will be inside for any length of time but I hope it acts as a deterrent to others. (I’ll be honest, I was surprised at the length of sentance, but not that they got a custodial sentence).

smallchange · 26/07/2024 15:49

Rfthyhuj · 26/07/2024 11:45

Did her protest actually go ahead, though? I thought they were sentenced for conspiracy?

If you read the sentencing remarks, what's being referred to is the intended result of their protest. It was intended to cause far, far worse disruption and gridlock of the entire network around the M25. It could well have resulted in deaths and they were lucky that it didn't.

Her sentencing reflects what happened and what she intended to happen, but it would have been more severe if she and her co-conspirators had been fully successful in their aims.

This is entitled tone deaf doing what they do best. Making everything about them. Clueless when it provokes outrage

Yalta · 26/07/2024 15:52

I actually think that jailing them won’t work as they will wear it as a badge of honour

Paying for all the missed work missed appointments and extra petrol money (+ interest) people spent trying to get to these places with an attachment of 50% of their earnings and any income they get and confiscation of their passport until it is all paid off might bring it home to them that what they did cost people money they could ill afford to lose and no one is interested in their ridiculous protests

If you want to tackle climate change, the biggest thing you can do is find something that would save people money they can see immediately in their bank account from the first month or within a year at most.
Stop using the stick to get people to change because whilst you might see a difference in that particular thing it’s going to be a long battle ahead

Izzynohopanda · 26/07/2024 15:52

Do you think her brothers wedding will be targeted? If so, that’s a little unfair on them.

Unlikely. But even more unlikely if her mother stops publically bumping her gums about it.

Unfair? Like being unable to get to your work, attend health appts

ZoeCM · 26/07/2024 15:56

I think it's a bit patronising to say people are being whipped into a frenzy by the media. People have minds of their own. Plenty of us have listened to Cressida's mother's actual words and are appalled. No mention of missed cancer treatment and funerals, just a missed wedding.
