Men are too comfortable in public

Throwwaway · 23/07/2024 18:32

This is the first time I’ve really noticed it but as I was playing with my son in a park, a man was on the phone with his hand literally inside his trousers as he paced. Every now and then he’s pull it out and scratch his balls and put it back in. Like all the way in. It’s weird. I could never get away with doing this. It’s rude and I don’t want to have to see that. I feel like this wouldn’t have happened 50-100 years ago and it’s slobbish and disgusting not to mention unhygienic. I feel unreasonable for being annoyed at this. They’re so comfortable in society that the park is like their bedroom apparently. Whereas women often feel the need to make themselves as small as possible in society. Rant over.

Snapping a photo of a stranger and posting it online is ok though?

How are people more horrified at the anonymous photo than the ball scratching 🤢

I couldn’t give a monkeys if a man is scratching his balls. Really. I just don’t care:

I tend not to want strangers thinking they can take photos of me/film me and pop it online so this sort of thing makes me anxious.

FourNeedWeek · 24/07/2024 13:42

I have to compliment you, considering they were taken from a bush, these are very clear photographs.

Greenlittecat · 24/07/2024 13:57

Bangwam1 · 24/07/2024 12:17

Time to raise standards I think. I agree with you.

If they’re not scratching their balls in public, wanking to porn of some trafficked girl, they’re following some girl in a car, standing so close they’re breathing on her on the tube, eyeing up little girls, telling her to smile more (with you C U Nexts around?!)

I don’t know why anyone would marry one tbh.

Ah yes. The logical conclusion. Hands down their pants to stalking women 🙄

Throwwaway · 24/07/2024 14:00

They weren't taken from a bush. He knew what was up. But there's no point trying to defend myself. Too many hateful people hiding behind screens. Fuck me, right? Anyway well done, you've bullied another neurodivergent young person off here despite her coming for comfort after being made uncomfortable in public. If I ever get harassed, it'll be my fault too. I should go fuck myself and never leave the house. The internet brings out the worst in people obviously. I've been made fun of my whole life so I'm just super super tired of it. I'm done, you win. I've been nothing but polite with responses here because unlike some of you, I'm not a bitter person but I'm just too tired. The post wasn't even that big a deal. Several people said they reported it and it's still here so it's clearly not even a big deal to the authorities. Now I'm getting dragged for the way I speak, being called a pervert and told I've asked for it. Society at its best. What a shame. Anyway I won't be bullied anymore.

Men have balls and penises, they're natural and itch. Not sure why this is any different (if anything, less 'in your face') than breastfeeding.

Women have vulvas. They're natural and itch.

Still don't scratch mine in public.

You literally took a photo of someone and shamed them on the internet. There was no need to include a photo, and I think if you hadn't people would be on your side.

You have done exactly what you are claiming people have done to you. Except you instigated it by posting a photo of a random man on the internet.

LordPercyPercy · 24/07/2024 14:32

Again, the man's face wasn't included. Do you guys also get het up when the BBC runs a story about obesity rates, illustrated by a random picture of fat people? How is that different?

I guess whoever filmed the guy getting off on shoving that petrol nozzle up their arse was shaming them as well. Or the guy filmed shagging the car exhaust.

We may not like it but people take pictures and film others all the time in public. It is legal in the UK. Maybe don't behave shamefully. And yes touching yourself in public is shameful.

I'm guessing there are some quite defensive mothers of teen/young adults sons with nasty habits on here.

They're not the same thing. @Throwwaway posted 2 photos of someone from the waist down to illustrate her point, and is being piled on. The man has experienced no consequences at all after having a lengthy feel of his genitals in a public place.

Bluebirdover · 24/07/2024 14:51

I hope you're ok with being photographed yourself by some random in the street?

How are they not? I'm not trying to be goady asking that question, I'm just confused (I have ASD too so things are sometimes black/white to me - especially on the internet)

She watched the man for 10 minutes, took photos of him, cropped them (presumably still having the originals on her phone) then posted to MN to shame him. She could have written the post without the photos, she doesn't need them to "illustrate her point".

It's gross he had his hand down his pants, but its far worse what the OP has done by taking photos and posting him online.

Of course only have one person's word that any of this even happened. I bet he wasn't even touching his balls.

Pictures or it didn't happen. oh, wait .....

Correct the internet does bring out the worst in people, they post photos of strangers without their consent.

Quite. The responses to this thread are depressingly predictable. It's the woman who is now at fault for publicly shaming him. And that good old chestnut had to make an appearance sooner or later: 'bet it didn't happen at all!'

Because of course society is so much more comfortable with the narrative that women are liars than that men engage far too frequently in disgustingly, often sexually, inappropriate conduct.

The women singing this tune need to get a clue. Doing this kind of (hard and persistent) work on behalf of the patiarchal system won't rescue them from suffering at its hands in some way at some time. Unfortunately, but inevitably, sooner or later you'll get your wake-up call.

As to @Throwwaway - thanks for posting this thread and I think we can deduce from the fact that your images are still standing, despite many threatened reports, that MNHQ agree. This thread has empowered me, if I ever see this behaviour from men I interact with, to vocally challenge it. Imagine actually hearing the words 'get your hands out of your pants!' openly stated? This alone brings right home the shock value that tells us exactly whose behaviour is aberrant in this situation.

It's fucking hideous.

I refer you to rules 1, 2, 3, 12 & 14

Men are too comfortable in public
Moreveganice · 24/07/2024 15:46

I reported a security guard in ikea for doing just this - not just in public but in a customer facing workplace.

I have also found myself saying ‘hands out of pants’ to random young men in my vicinity (habit from having to remind a young DS whom I hope is learning to be a decent human being) - they go beetroot and can’t get their hand out quick enough - but then I am a middle aged teacher!

It is just not on and they know it.

LadyCrumpet · 24/07/2024 10:20

Well the female equivalent woul dbe keeping things in your bra, which I have done when I've had no pockets/bag.

Not things I'd give to other people to touch though. Thinking about it, I used to keep a lot in there, my fags and lighter, phone, tiny purse, bank card, car keys, door key😂Blush

Breast are not genitals. They are secondary sex characteristics.

The female equivalent to a man rummaging in his pants … would be a woman rummaging in her knickers.

The male equivalent to a woman keeping something in her bra … would be a man keeping something in his vest.

(Keeping things in your bra - still gross, but not as gross as keeping them in your knickers).

nameynamenamenamename · 24/07/2024 16:01

@Throwwaway I think you were right to post. I don’t see anything wrong with you posting the photo either. If you hadn’t posted the photo you would have had people say it didn’t happen, or claiming to not know what you meant. You were careful to anonymise it.

Thank you for raising the issue.

ntmdino · 24/07/2024 16:15

Women should be comfortable in their bodies and not shamed for anything to do with that.

Men have dangly, naturally sweaty bits between their legs and should never rearrange them for comfort, and if they do then they should be publicly shamed for it.

Got it.

I mean, I have absolutely nothing to do with men when it comes to that, but c'mon. Let's have a bit of consistency here. It's not especially beyond the bounds of possibility that he's caught some nasty itchy disease from his other half that's unbearable unless dealt with every 10 minutes. What should he do, just stay in the house until it's done?

MyGladEagle · 24/07/2024 16:17

Throwwaway · 24/07/2024 12:52

this is very much ‘she was asking for it’ vibes

we're talking about someone scratching their bollocks.

LordPercyPercy · 24/07/2024 16:19

A lot of women are prone to thrush though no fault of their own. It itches like the devil. Despite this, I've yet to see a woman out in public frantically scratching her own vagina.
So whatever restrain women manage, he or any other itchy-balled fellow traveller could employ the same. Or if he's unable to then yes staying at home would be probably be advisable.

More likely though he's just an entitled, badly brought up man who is happy to behave in an indecent way in public and doesn't care what impact it has on others.

Yeah he probably is. Much like the women who run around with their backsides hanging out all over the place.

Do feel free to look away if either of these things offend you.

LordPercyPercy · 24/07/2024 16:25

Also would you really want someone's clap or syph encrusted hand then touching door handles and whatever else in public? That's beyond rank.
