Men are too comfortable in public

This is the first time I’ve really noticed it but as I was playing with my son in a park, a man was on the phone with his hand literally inside his trousers as he paced. Every now and then he’s pull it out and scratch his balls and put it back in. Like all the way in. It’s weird. I could never get away with doing this. It’s rude and I don’t want to have to see that. I feel like this wouldn’t have happened 50-100 years ago and it’s slobbish and disgusting not to mention unhygienic. I feel unreasonable for being annoyed at this. They’re so comfortable in society that the park is like their bedroom apparently. Whereas women often feel the need to make themselves as small as possible in society. Rant over.

It's not unreasonable to be annoyed or get the ick by it but yadbu to photograph him! That's just weird.
Spitting in public is my ultimate pet hate, it's fucking grim. But I wouldn't photograph someone doing that either!

You're so right, same logic for upskirt pics, people get wayyyyy too touchy about them it's like chill! Your face isn't even included!

Indeed, his basic right to privacy does not matter at all seemingly. It is bad enough that the photo was taken without his awareness but to publish it on a public forum is terrible conduct. The OP seems to be as lacking in awareness as this chap.

OldTinHat · 23/07/2024 22:24

I personally think that they don't even know they're doing it! It's like manspreading - completely oblivious.

I saw a guy at a festival that I used to date briefly recently (he didn't see me). One walk past, he had his hands down his shorts, second walk past he had his finger up his nose!

TheRozzers · 23/07/2024 22:27

Yes men are too comfortable but seriously, has nobody here ever discreetly sorted out a wedgie?

Weird to take a picture.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 23/07/2024 22:29

What I don't understand about the OP taking the photo (apart from wtf she thinks we need to see it), is how did she KNOW he was going to shove them down his shorts?

In the first photo he's barely got his fingers into his waistband.

OP, what made you take the first pic?

Tiddlywinkly · 23/07/2024 22:30

Yeah, I noticed a man (guessing mid 20s) a few people ahead of me in a queue with both hands down his elasticated shorts.

I was a bit shocked when I saw it. He went in again, just resting them there like an alternative to pockets. It wasn't touching himself sexually and he wasn't self conscious. Maybe it's supposed to be manly? I just thought, it looked weird and inappropriate.

This is it - I think most people understand that you might need a scratch now and again but why not do it in private?

Another confusing aspect is why is this action comforting for those doing it? All feels a bit Freudian but thought boys progressed out of the fascinated fiddling stage as toddlers. Hope DS doesn’t start doing this as he grows up but would be difficult to discourage if it’s seen as some sort of emotional support action 😂

In private, ie in a toilet or room alone.
Wouldn’t necessitate my hand being left there for 5-10 mins in full view, either.

Crackwillow · 23/07/2024 22:32

I have seen this so many times now. The first time I saw it I couldn't believe my eyes - hands right in there, playing around. I hope the guy in the pic is shamed if it ever gets back to him, it's disgusting behaviour.

LostittoBostik · 23/07/2024 22:33
  1. as has been discussed on many other threads, this is not sexual it's some stupid gang culture thing and supposed to indicate they're carrying a knife whether they are or not

  2. taking photos of people's waistline/groin and putting them online is fucking dodgy - what are you thinking?!

Vettrianofan · 23/07/2024 22:35

Boak🤢

Allfur · 23/07/2024 22:35

It's fucking gross

CarpetSlipper · 23/07/2024 22:37

Strange of you to take a photo but YANBU. Men burp, snort, put their hands down their trousers, spit on the ground and get on public transport absolutely stinking of BO. Such behaviour from women is extremely rare yet I see it daily from men.

tillylula · 23/07/2024 22:43

You always know when a bloke has done this cause their hand stinks 🤮

I wonder if loungewear is the real criminal here. This wouldn't have happened with a Mr Darcy style pair of breeches

Mr Darcy was a notorious dandy. Didn’t you hear about him wandering around in a wet shirt? Utterly unacceptable.

Throwwaway · 23/07/2024 22:46

If it gets taken down, that's totally fine. I respect that.

But why did you take the first photo OP?

I'm dying to know because he's not doing anything in it, so how did you know to take it before he did? 😁

SpiritAdder · 23/07/2024 22:48

Wallaby adjustment photo.

MaterCogitaVera · 23/07/2024 22:49

FindThatThing · 23/07/2024 19:01

come on now he's clearly having a scratch/ feel.

Can someone tell me or if you have a man in the house, please ask them for me:
why do (some?) men have to feel and check their junk?

Are they worried they left them behind ?🤣

My DH says “because they have no manners or sense of propriety whatsoever!”

LordPercyPercy · 23/07/2024 22:50

You're so right, same logic for upskirt pics, people get wayyyyy too touchy about them it's like chill! Your face isn't even included!

But she hasn't upskirted or upshorted him or whatever. She's just taken a perfectly legal picture of a man in a public place. He is the one who has chosen to behave lewdly.

he had just been doing it, was taking his hand out as I took the photo. The second is when he was putting it back in. INSIDE THE UNDERWEAR it boggles my mind. I think I'm just over sensitive.
Basically I knew he'd do it again, he'd been doing it on and off (mostly on) for about 10 minutes. I was honestly just shocked.

billyt · 23/07/2024 22:51

Well, I have never, ever needed to shove my hands in my boxers to 'sort myself out' in public.

Some people are just slobs, both men and women.

What, perverts deserve privacy to play with their own junk in public now?

So its morally correct to take a picture surreptiously and post it on a public forum? Good to know: your level of insight is as magnificant as the OPs.

He's acting unusual deliberately and consciously. Very different to someone who had a wardrobe malfunction or was just standing innocently. In my mind it's justified but I totally understand and respect everyone's opinion and this will be taken down shortly I'm sure (shorts pun not intended lol)
