I was a little bit shocked to see them gathering round him putting themselves in the line of fire like that. Would that happen in this country? Never seen anything like it before and not sure how I feel about it.

Wait until you hear about what the army and soldiers do, it will blow your mind.

Re the shoes, if Trump's feet are anything like mine with plantar fasciitis there is no way he could have walked, let alone run, to the waiting car and safety!! I know it's a life or death situation but I would be screaming for my shoes too!

You could see the obvious gap better from a distance.

Surely this is because he was not cooperating with them. They are in position but he is fighting against them to get his photo moment. Putting their lives at extra risk while he is mostly covered

I should think the people on his detail probably support him politically.

They may or may not but it wouldn’t drive whether they’d be on his detail or not.

Nah this poster has called Trump nasty things in other posts. It is definitely being goady. It must be a bitch to realised he may win the elections after this. Not matter how much shit is stirred it would not make a difference.
May be just go out and enjoy the summer a bit.

Edited

Being called nasty things is a small price to pay vs putting children in cages and grabbing women ‘by the pussy’ so I think she’s alright. Thoughts and prayers though.

People prepared to die for a public figure or an office need psychiatric help.
Literally, "They are worth more than me", my life is worth less than theirs".
Sad .

If they weren't prepared to do it democracy would be down the pan. It's not about anyone's life being worth more, it's about nutters derailing democracy by killing people they don't agree with.

Private security is perhaps different, but the pay packets seem to make it worthwhile for some.

I'm starting to think montysma1 is an anarchist Grin

I did a Close protection training a few years back, and one part that stuck with me was how much planning goes into keeping high-profile people safe in public. It’s not just about standing near them—it’s the prep, the routes, the crowd assessment, all of it. The idea that someone would deliberately place others at risk isn’t just unethical, it’s the opposite of what proper training teaches.

The people on his detail are secret service agents and their political affinity has no reckoning whatsoever on their assignments

JFK was apparently very unpopular with his own security detail.
