Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

Behappyandbehave · 09/07/2024 22:25

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

You sound very bitter. Almost jealous, even. 🤔

Have the school holidays started already?

Next, women who object to the lip filler trend are jealous because their husbands are looking at luscious lips. Can't be because we don't want our dds to not look like blow up dolls. Oh no, all women are either free spirited thong wearers or jealous wrinkled prudes. Nothing in between and no nuance.

Lavvvvvly dig at women there OP.

I have a bit of filler in my lips. I get them done every 2 years. Because chemotherapy destroyed my face and a little tweak here and there brought the life back in my face.

Nice to know that we all look like blow up dolls :)

What a bitchy, bitter person.

Not you @ShallWeGoToTheFirepit I was talking abut @BristolBloke who is very keen to tell us what he prefers.

As far as I can see, @BristolBloke has just said that some women can look amazing in thongs.

Many other women on here have said the same, and also disagreed. But because he's a bloke, his pov is dictated by porn.

Do you have sons? Do you tell them the same thing when they voice an opinion?

Westfacing · 11/07/2024 11:29

BristolBloke · 11/07/2024 11:12

I wouldn't have given a shiny shite, whenever I was on a beach as a teenager my eyes were elsewhere.

So your mother didn't show you her arse - good for her for being considerate towards her teenage son

Surely you must know I am not talking about essential plastic surgery @ShallWeGoToTheFirepit? Illness is a completely different thing.

It's interesting how any woman who kicks back against the visual enjoyment of men is jealous, against the sisterhood and bitchy. And obviously this is a very complex issue and nobody knows where to draw the line, but it's disturbing that we have drawn it to mostly facilitiate men.

Funny how we come across to others. Some might say a bloke drawn to a thread about thong bikinis getting all hot under the collar about how women should wear them sounds very 'invested'. Almost creepy, even.🤔

Are you ok? I mean are you genuinely saying that any women who wears a revealing bikini is inconsiderate towards their kids? That seems very narrow minded. Like I said, growing up in a Latin family (but with one Scottish parent!) and having done a fair bit of travelling, I'm kind of used to being on beaches and at pools with people wearing a variety of swimwear. I mean South Americans have always worn really skimpy stuff - where do you think the Brazilian wax got it's name 🤣. I just find it disappointing that so many people are so disgusted by other people's bodies. I don't know anyone in real life who acts like this so this thread has been a surprise!

CharlotteRumpling · 11/07/2024 11:40

Actually, I am going to start another thread about my concerns, because they are irrelevant to the OP and perhaps many posters. . Hoping no blokes turn up to that to tell us how much they love various women's apparel, but I guess they will.

Well me getting filler wasn't essential. I could've carried on with thinner lips, but I decided to get 1ml of filler to change that.

But you said people with fillers look like blow up dolls. So regardless of 'essential plastic surgery' the result is the same to you.

What a sad world we live in.
Not everything is for the male gaze. I don't wear a thong for men, I feel more confident in a thong.
I don't get fillers for men. I do that for myself.

It's incredibly sad that everything women do is perceived to be for the male gaze. We have a long way to go.

Would you say the same for any lesbians expressing their views on this thread?

A man finds (some) women attractive in a thong. Heaven forfend! What a creep!

Another one who I hope doesn't have sons. And if you do, they're not exempt from finding women attractive and voicing that.

What do you mean am I OK? Of course I'm OK - just giving my opinions.

I too am well travelled and been on many world beaches where people are wearing all sorts of swimwear, or none at all - doesn't bother me how much flesh anyone shows, not my business. And I do know how the Brazilian got its name!

But I wouldn't have exposed my arse to my teenage sons by wearing a thong. Simple as that.

sallyal · 11/07/2024 11:47

Do you mean an actual thong though like a piece of string up your bum crack ? Or do you mean the ones that are like a little triangle the cover a bit of your bum but they aren't a full brief ? If you mean the triangle ones then yeah (I live in a hot country near the beach) I see loads of people in them. If you mean an actual thong then no I don't see many people in them i don't think they are that fashionable now tbh 🤔 it's up to you really 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fair enough. Just that you didn't sound well travelled, you sound uptight! Wear what you want and have your own rules about what you'll wear around your kids but it sounded a lot like you, and others on this thread, are trying to say that everyone needs to have the same standards because your way is the right way. And it isn't, necessarily.

LESBIANS are not MEN. Hmm

Very nice to have a continental take on the uptight British, but did Spanish mothers wear thongs in the presence of their teenage sons?

That was the question the OP was asking.

I’m staying at an hotel in Greece with a predominantly Northern European clientele. I’m with my husband and I think we are the only British guests. They certainly aren’t in the majority but there are plenty of thong wearing mothers with teenage sons sunbathing and walking around outside. I dare say there are some grandmothers too.

I'm not even going to dignify the comment about lesbians. It's a silly straw man anyway given I couldn't care less whether Bernard from Blackpool likes thongs or not. Its not the preference that makes it creepy. I have two adult sons who absolutely find women attractive and that's not creepy either. However, what my sons don't do is sit on MN banging on to a group of women about how much they love thongs and throwing clichéd insults at women who think otherwise. If they did, then that would be creepy.

ShallWeGoToTheFirepit · 11/07/2024 12:14

@HungryLittleCrocodile

Well you obviously have missed the entire point of my reply.

And you didn't answer my question. Why can women & lesbians comment on a thread about women wearing a thong, but men can't?

And newsflash, I KNOW MEN HAVE A PENIS AND WOMEN HAVE VULVAS.

If you have sons, then you're another one who hates men and thinks men aren't allowed to comment on anything or find anything attractive about a women, but of course, your sons would be exempt from that entirely.

I think most of us with sons would be happy if they found women attractive if they are heterosexual but otherwise got on with their lives. What I'm pleased my sons 'exempt' themselves from is spending their time on MN arguing with women about thongs. Because, be honest, if you're a woman, would you be happy to think that's what your son was doing with his day?

Jessieshome · 11/07/2024 12:36

My mum used to sunbathe topless on family holidays around me, my brother, another family that included a husband and male child in the 80's and early 90's. We're all a bunch of prudes these days!
Having said that, thong bikinis are totally gross!😄
I'd happily where a skimpy bikini (although not thong) around my teenage sons, why would it be ok for them to see every other person on the beach in a bikini while there mum is sat covered up in a poncho or whatever, hidden away? To me that would be weirder.

There are lots of bikinis that cover half the bum rather than an actual thong.

ShallWeGoToTheFirepit · 11/07/2024 12:38

@5128gap

I mean I don't think the guy on here is spending all of his day on this thread.

I think if anyone spent their whole day on here I'd think it's a little sad.

But a guy commenting on a public forum about a topic that interests them, or a topic that they have an opinion on isn't creepy, no. Just because he has a penis it doesn't make them a creep.
