Obviously I can't tell you who to vote for but then there is this:

I think had the general election been last week, many more people will have voted Reform than will on Thursday.

Dearg · 02/07/2024 11:24

I get that everyone is entitled to vote as they see fit, but I would seriously question the morality of someone who vote reform. As if the Tories were not right wing enough.

Fizzadora · 02/07/2024 11:25

OK👍

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/07/2024 11:27

Seriously, did she do no research at all, before signing up with them?!

schloss · 02/07/2024 11:27

Obviously I can't tell you who to vote for but then there is this:

But you are are doing exactly that by saying, vote Labour, Tories, Lib Dems etc but not Reform.

We live in a democracy where people choose who to vote for. The decision is made on either a postal vote or on 04th July when you put an X in a box - it is not for you or anyone else to say.

VickyEadieofThigh · 02/07/2024 11:28

Farage is a nasty piece of work. Anyone thinking he's anything other is naive at best.

caringcarer · 02/07/2024 11:32

I'm voting Reform UK. I don't tell others who to vote for or who not to vote for. We live in a democracy.

cupcaske123 · 02/07/2024 11:34

Asked why his party appears to attract racists and extremists, the former UKIP leader claimed that having "destroyed" the far-right BNP, some people who are minded that way but no longer have a political home will "gravitate in our direction".

Why would members of the BNP gravitate towards your party?

We live in a free country where we are allowed to call out racism and misogyny when we see it and try and warn the ones that are disillusioned.
Don't let your fear hijack your morality.

DizzyBumble · 02/07/2024 11:35

why? it's really nothing to do with you OP who I vote for.

My morality is fine thank you - yes it is a free country for you to call out whatever you want, that same freedom allows anyone to democratically vote for a party of their choice.

I haven't decided who I'll vote for yet but Reform have created a real buzz round my way and it's difficult to ignore them.

There's racists in every party. Remember it was only a few years ago that labour were found to be institutionally racist under Corbyn, and loads of people got chucked out of the party. The Reform thing seems like a storm in a teacup compared to that.

There are indeed racists in every party.

There is only one party which exists because of racism though.

ilovesooty · 02/07/2024 14:44

People are free to vote for Reform if they want to. Telling them not to isn't going to stop them. I'm also free to have nothing to do with anyone who thinks and votes like that.

It doesn't seem like a storm in a teacup to have people from Reform using the 'p' word to talk about people of colour, or to say that immigrants should be shot, or that Africans have a lower IQ, or for that matter that women are spongers who should get back in the kitchen or that gay people are nonces and the police should be replaced with paramilitaries.

And Labour jettisoned Corbyn and replaced him with a leader who had made getting rid of antisemitism a priority. Can Reform ditch Farage and clean up their act in the same way? Not before Thursday they can't!

Shortfatsuit · 02/07/2024 14:45

I don't really understand these recent defections tbh. I mean, it can't be news to the candidates that they were standing for a party that is founded on racism and bigotry, that is led by racists bigots and relies heavily on racist bigots to vote for it. What has changed?

LadyWhistled0wn · 02/07/2024 14:45

People can vote who ever they want too, we aren't a communist state.

RainbowBrightz · 02/07/2024 14:46

I have lots of friends who are planning to vote Reform and none of them are racist. Yes they are concerned about uncontrolled immigration, amongst other things, but that's something different entirely and I don't think it's helpful to confuse the two 🌈

The veiled racism has become too overt, and Farage's attempts to dismiss and minimise it have become too unconvincing.

Yes, I agree. There will always be right wing bigots that vote for right wing bigoted parties. It isn't illegal.

I find it quite helpful when people openly admit to voting Reform, as it tells me exactly what kind of person they are and I know not to bother with them going forward.

RainbowBrightz · 02/07/2024 14:49

Let's not forget Diane Abbot was overtly racist in a newspaper article last year, and yet she's just been welcomed back into Starmer's Labour 🌈

VolvoFan · 02/07/2024 14:49

You're well within your rights to say that, but people can and will vote for whoever they damn well please whether you want them to or not.

It's possible to be concerned about immigration without being racist. It's not possible to say, for example, that black people are 'lazy savages' or refer to them as scum and not be racist. So why are non-racist people voting for a party with candidates like that? I can only assume they don't realise how violent and extreme the views held by Reform members really are, so I hope a lot of people are reading the news and getting informed this week before they vote.

I do accept that some voters may be too stupid to see racism when it's staring them in the face. That isn't their fault and it's usually pretty obvious.

I don't hold it against people who clearly aren't capable of critical thinking, but anyone with average intelligence or above that votes Reform is pretty obviously racist. They might not openly say racist things, but they're willing to be complicit in racism, which is the same thing. And misogyny, homophobia etc.
