Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

lostTheMarble
I’ll say it. I’d rather the devil (and they truly are) we know that the proposed Labour government incoming. All the party has put out are utterly empty words with nothing to back them, no plan, no outliners. At least the Tories don’t even pretend to be ‘kind’, they know the country/economy has been utterly fuck from Brexit and Covid and quite frankly they’ve kept us treading water despite trying to run everyone under 50k a year into poverty and food banks. If we must have a self serve bunch of shits in government, I’d rather not the ones under the Be Kind banner.“

But they caused Brexit?

No, Boris caused Brexit as an extremely convoluted way to become PM. Cameron as the actual PM and leader of the conservatives was opposed to it. What Johnston could never have predicted was Covid which absolutely undid his master plan. The people of this country didn’t have to vote for it but they did. The people were warned it would cause an economic clusterfuck and didn’t care. Now the same people are wondering where the fuck this era of destitution has come from and are blaming everyone but the ones who voted for it. I can see huge fault in the Tories for many a thing, but the economy going to shit is partly the fault of the British public themselves. But Sunak can’t point that out because it alienates even more of his potential voters.

I will be voting conservative. I loathe them in most respects but I trust them on this issue. I have three daughters and I want them to be able to change in peace, compete in fair sport and ask for a female healthcare professional if they need one.

I want women to have the right to call a man a man. The right to state reality as we see it is more important to me than almost anything else.

Riiiight. And, remind me again, who has been in power while the current situation has developed?

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/06/2024 20:36

but he said 'biological women' several times in that clip
protecting biological women's spaces
that's what we want isn't it?
there's no way anyone can argue that TW are biological women

Yes, but what does he mean by 'protect'? I can totally imagine him saying in 6 months' time "Yes, we are protecting biological women's spaces by not letting men into them. But transwomen are women (even if they are not biological women), so they are not a threat. So it's safe to let them into biological women's spaces."

Yes this. He wouldn't be going back on his word if he does this now would he?! Slimy git.

Bloody politicians are full of shit but this particular shit could set women's rights back decades. I am very concerned for young girls growing up in a world that is so increasingly focused on the rights of men and what they want from women.

lcakethereforeIam · 28/06/2024 23:16

I'm seriously considering putting up an 'election' poster

SICK OF STARMER'S TWADDLE

the only thing that's giving me pause is that some delusional fool would put through my window in the name of kindness.

dayswithaY · 28/06/2024 23:16

I have a question about spoiling your ballot paper, cos I can’t vote for any of these clowns.

Is there anything specific you should write, and does it get recorded? Do any of the parties actually care, or will they just think you’re a loon? How will it impact the vote count, if at all?

Itsprobablynotcominhome · 28/06/2024 23:17

I mean, honestly, what do you expect him to say at this point? The election is next week, and i expect they've weighed up how many votes they'll lose by taking the stance they have, vs how many votes they'll lose if they take a hard anti trans stance, which is how it'll be portrayed in the media. They've obviously decided which side their bread is buttered.

You're all busy gushing with excitement over Jane but he's going to be prime minister next week, Jane or no Jane. She hasn't actually achieved anything.

It is counted but it looks as though if we all wrote "women's rights" that wouldn't be reported. It'll just be reported as "spoiled ballot due to writing".

What is spoiling your ballot, and how do you do it? - Voting Counts

However what happens if you don't agree with any of the candidates available to you? Spoiling your ballot is one way to show your dissatisfaction.

Yes she has, she's brought this issue out into the light for a lot of people. Look at all the newspaper articles. Look at how many people on the various threads today have decided not to vote Labour because of this. Yes, Labour will still win next week but this will still send them a message that women will not put up with this bullshit. It played a part in the downfall of Sturgeon and Yousaf. More will follow in their footsteps if they don't take heed.

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 28/06/2024 23:27

MagePaige · 28/06/2024 20:28

Well then why doesn't he just say, we will create a third space for that small number we want to protect?!

That's not what the TRAs want. They want to trample all over women's dignity, respect, safety and feelings. They don't want third spaces. Keir's weasel words mean he's going to let anyone in women's spaces that gets a £5 certificate.

PowerTulle · 28/06/2024 23:28

Except drag our incoming PM squirming and spluttering to the truth for all to see, ie he can’t answer questions from the public about women and single sex provisions.

ilovesooty · 28/06/2024 23:30

iamtheblcksheep · 28/06/2024 22:09

No you won’t because you will be lounging in prison for committing a hate crime but don’t worry you’ll still have male company when starmer lets all the transmen in there

I doubt if the prison system has the capacity to have women "lounging" for making GC statements

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 28/06/2024 23:33

Yep Labour are happy to use unconsenting women's bodies to make sad men feel a bit happier. Or just to let men who like to control women, control them with government approval.

The women's feelings about this state of affairs apparently don't matter.

Jane pushed back on that and showed how furious we all are. Well done Jane! Courage calls to courage!

KoiKoiKoi · 29/06/2024 00:30

Anyone that votes Labour is a fool. What are you going to do when they've eradicated safe spaces for women and girls, and their next donor is PIE?

CriticalCondition · 29/06/2024 00:49

Just listened to this clip. Thank you, Jane. You didn't back down and you spoke out for literally millions of women in calling out his twaddle. Good on you!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/06/2024 01:44

Yes, and he's not going to have plausible deniability when he is inevitably forced to deal with the fallout of his policies.

PardonMee · 28/06/2024 21:00

how far through the interview?

At 44:27

Some of Jane's superb boundary maintenance:

KS: trans people's vulnerability, dignity, blah blah
Jane: Why are you putting our dignity on the line?

KS: biological women's spaces, hospitals, sports ..
Jane: Can you say now that you will not allow biological men, under any guise, to come into women's safe spaces?

KS: there are some people who do not identify with the gender that they were born into, traumatised, protect women's spaces, people who do not identify with the sex they were born, treat them with respect, dignity ...
Jane: Tries to bring him back to the point, but Nicky Campbell cut her off.

Sadly, KS was a hell of a lot clearer on people "not identifying with the sex/gender they were born" and their need for respect, kindness and dignity than the actual problem for women. For an analytical thinker, he's fucking fumbled the shot on this issue.

I'm so disappointed. And thank you, Jane, for your laser focus! Great work.

LunaNorth · 29/06/2024 04:28

Jane played an absolute belter. Fantastic. I’d love to see her interview KS one to one, without anyone to interrupt. She had him on the ropes 💪🏻

mamahotpants · 29/06/2024 04:36

No matter who is going to be PM next week, the men in frocks are in the ladies toilets, hostels, prisons(Scotland) changing rooms, gyms etc already ...
Cos they are men.

mamahotpants · 29/06/2024 04:37

And it's shite.

Butterflyfern · 29/06/2024 04:55

There is no party to vote for on this issue though. I know the Tories are saying some of the right things, but it feels like it's only that way because they want to be separate from other parties.

This nonsense has literally happened on their watch! And they've done fuck all to support women so far, so why would that change? I feel like they think it's just an online debate that will die out if they half heartedly agree and placate the women ("calm down dear")

Butterflyfern · 29/06/2024 05:01

I'm still going to vote Labour, as my politics leans left, I agree with the widest number of their policies and they have by far the best chance of winning locally (already a labour seat). Plus, like I say, I don't believe the Tories on this issue and don't believe that spoiling a ballot is a meaningful protest.

But that doesn't mean people can't keep using our voices to push for change. Policies change within sitting governments too.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/06/2024 05:06

It reminded me of the wonderful woman who went at Thatcher over the sinking of the Belgrano. A woman making a point, not allowing bullshit to win.
