Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

So what are the other parties saying about this? I can’t seem to find anything concrete. I planned to vote Labour but would vote Lib Dem or Green if they were with the Tories on this issue. There is no way that I will vote Tory/Reform.

The Lib Dems and Greens are worse than Labour on this issue. It's so depressing. I'm left with no choice but to spoil my ballot paper.

I am voting Labour anyway because I’m choosing on a broad basis - but I am furious about this.”

Fair enough. Your opinion is as valid as anyone else’s.

CranfordScones · 28/06/2024 22:14

You only hold people to account when they have power - at which point politicians no longer care about what they need to say to get elected.

Easier to say nothing and look forward to untramelled power when the tedious concerns of the little people are no longer relevant.

EasternStandard · 28/06/2024 22:18

LornaDuh · 28/06/2024 21:44

Well done, Jane. You wouldn't let KS off the hook however much he squirmed.

I'm voting Labour because they're better than any other party on every issue but this. Once they're in power, we'll fight them for women's rights and protection of our spaces and we'll win.

You can try but if they’re not listening now why would they listen after getting into power and getting a mandate?

Velicirapitor · 28/06/2024 22:19

Great to hear about this. Thank you Jane. 👏👏👏

JaneVapeman · 28/06/2024 22:20

Look at Spain and Germany, unfortunately once the gate is open..

So everyone on this thread would be happy if we had 5 more years of Conservative government?

I’ll say it. I’d rather the devil (and they truly are) we know that the proposed Labour government incoming. All the party has put out are utterly empty words with nothing to back them, no plan, no outliners. At least the Tories don’t even pretend to be ‘kind’, they know the country/economy has been utterly fuck from Brexit and Covid and quite frankly they’ve kept us treading water despite trying to run everyone under 50k a year into poverty and food banks. If we must have a self serve bunch of shits in government, I’d rather not the ones under the Be Kind banner.

borntobequiet · 28/06/2024 22:21

Well done her.

Beekeepingmum · 28/06/2024 22:23

Surely no one believes the conservatives actually care either. They have stood back and watched whilst this has all evolved and now they are desperate for votes have stuck everything into the manifesto, even that says it is a complex area. It is not complex you either have XX DNA or XY DNA what you wear or how you look makes on difference on whether you are a women or a man. The whole concept of gender being separate from sex needs to go, otherwise will still have to put up with the stupid pronoun stuff. Gender dysmorphia needs to be defined as a mental illness to be treated rather than appeased.

Xtraincome · 28/06/2024 22:26

You are a hero Jane!

Princessfluffy · 28/06/2024 22:27

This has 100% switched me off from voting labour.

Which parties do support women's rights though?

Angela raynor said on lbc, trans woman's rights are women's rights. She also appeared to be irritated /baffled by the fuss around these "unjustified fears.

That's because she is thick.

victoriapauncefootjones · 28/06/2024 22:29

iamtheblcksheep · 28/06/2024 22:09

No you won’t because you will be lounging in prison for committing a hate crime but don’t worry you’ll still have male company when starmer lets all the transmen in there

This is the reality with Labour. No one in the parties is 'confused' on this issue or believes they are doing something good and noble. There is a huge amount of money behind the movement to destroy women's rights, huge.

Sunak is prob the only one willing to speak out because his family are billionaires. Would he actually fight for women, who knows. But with Labour, there will be no fighting about it later, it will be a hate crime.

Good luck and thank you to all you brave women!

TribeofFfive · 28/06/2024 22:35

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/06/2024 20:36

but he said 'biological women' several times in that clip
protecting biological women's spaces
that's what we want isn't it?
there's no way anyone can argue that TW are biological women

Yes, but what does he mean by 'protect'? I can totally imagine him saying in 6 months' time "Yes, we are protecting biological women's spaces by not letting men into them. But transwomen are women (even if they are not biological women), so they are not a threat. So it's safe to let them into biological women's spaces."

This with bloody bells on!!!!!

JaneVapeman · 28/06/2024 22:35

Beekeeping it was a movement that swept the world and confused everyone.

Rishi has picked up this is a hot potato. Why oh why hasn't starmer??

PowerTulle · 28/06/2024 22:39

This will blow up massively when Labour get in, because there are a lot of women like Jane now who are out of patience, able to see through the bullshit and having bloody none of it.

I wish we had more journalists with the nerve and integrity of Jane. Instead we have media wet wipes who just field the same old scripted soundbites from Starmer, repeated in every interview.

BlossomToLeaves · 28/06/2024 22:44

I wonder if Labour actually will get in, or whether so many will have changed their minds this week?

I do still think a Conservative government would be worse overall, and I don't trust them on women's rights, whatever they may say now. But I don't trust Labour either.

Is Starmer going to do an MN question and answer like Sunak, or will he refuse because he knows that the questions will be about this?! I guess MNHQ would vet the questions enough that he couldn't really be held to account, though, and especially when it's only written replies rather than an actual webchat.

I do hope someone in his party office is listening! There are so many who would like to vote Labour but for this.

It is not like it is a new thing in the last month. Sunak has seen the various sports bodies grappling with this for a few years and not shown any leadership, nor as these various cases have gone to court. He doesn't care about women if he did he wouldn't have implemented tax policies that disproportionately impacted them.

PowerTulle · 28/06/2024 22:52

And I’m another one who is revolted at Starmer using BG’s poor family to point score. Which he does now at every opportunity. Especially when Rishi’s ‘joke’ was nothing to do with this child, and was quoting Starmers own ridiculous % of women have a penis twaddle. BG’s mother wasn’t even in attendance. Starmer should be held to account for this too and made to apologise for using them so disgracefully in his election campaign.

And what if he doesn't say that, which I strongly suspect is what will happen. What if he says "We are protecting biological women's spaces by not letting men OR trans women into them?" I get the feeling that people round here will be positively disappointed.

There is no OR based in fact.

Confused Why would we be disappointed by getting what we want?! The only possible good outcome is that Labour (who are bound to win) magically see the light and properly come to their senses over every aspect of the gender issue. I'd be bloody delighted.

Clabony · 28/06/2024 22:59

I agree, I think it's terrible the way he uses a child's horrific murder to point score against Sunak instead of addressing the question asked of him by a member of the public.

And when Jane pulled him up on it, both men started to throw a wobbly.

Including when he said it in Parliament - I think it's about the fifth time I've heard him use Brianna in this way. Someone needs to have a word with him.
