Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

The only person to see it will be the person who counts the ballots, and they don't give a crap, it'll go into a pile with all the others that have a cock and balls drawn on them/people who've arsed their ballot paper up accidentally. Nobody is logging your comments to feed back to Starmer.

(by the way - this is according to someone who actually does this work who made a similar comment about spoiling their ballot on another mumnset thread)

Seriously, this shite again.

We dont care, we will do as we see fit with our ballots.

Just stop with the utterly pointless remarks.
Spoiling a ballot is as good as voting. It's not our fault there is no ticket wirth voting for. Go tell the parties to take women seriously. Do not tell us off

You are deliberately misrepresenting what I’ve said. This is what I mean. We need sensible rational debate. On this thread I have been addressed in aggressive ways just for expressing frustration that Jane kept interrupting and talking over KS. It’s just unnecessary. Be angry. Fight for our rights. But don’t attack everyone that doesn’t see things in exactly the same way as you.

There hasn't been any aggression towards you, just robust arguing (like you said you were also doing).

You're deliberately misrepresenting what's been happening.

I wonder if Starmer's odd absence from the last LK show before the election has something to do with Labour desperately trying to cobble together a coherent response to the question he would inevitably have been asked. I would not have imagined even ten years ago that the leader of the Opposition would have been repeatedly grilled about 'women with penises' and toilets four days before a GE, but here we are.

He also failed to show for a hustings:

She was not impressive in the least with her screeching, snorting and not listening - Nicky Campbell had to ask her to actually listen to the answer several times. Keir Starmer's answer was measured and compassionate to all parties, which is what we need, not more division and giving endless airtime to this weird obsession with a single issue that does not need to be divisive. Live and let live.

(And I have to say the moment she started speaking her tone said it all, really.)

🤣

Purest lies

Runningupthecurtains · 30/06/2024 11:03

Live and let live.
Always the transwomen doing the living and the actual women getting the let live end of the deal.
Where's the call for transwomen to let women live as their religion, culture, trauma, fear or just plain preference dictates?

Zwicky · 30/06/2024 11:04

Keir Starmer's answer was measured and compassionate to all parties

No it wasn’t. Making women a mixed sex group with their £5 lady certificate is a fucking crazy idea - it’s not “measured” at all. Nor is it compassionate to women.

And I have to say the moment she started speaking her tone said it all, really.

The tone police are back. Who the fuck are you ? David fucking Cameron?

lcakethereforeIam · 30/06/2024 11:05

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2024 10:50

Did you find it offensive and aggressive? ☹️

Now you mention it, no. Not in the slightest. Actually I admired her patience.

It's odd Keir can't be trusted on women's rights or he'd just come out and say it. It'd be a relief to everyone.

Equally, he, and the other Labour politicians who've been asked, obviously know what they have planned would be unacceptable to many women (and possibly a fair few men) otherwise they would just come out and say it. They've come up with this obfuscatory 'sex fudge', because plain language will cost them votes.

That being said I don't understand why they're pursuing it. The only explanation that makes sense is that they're true believers. Or are getting lobbying money that they'd lose if they didn't fake it.

I'm worried this is just the start. They've said they're going to have a trans inclusive conversion therapy ban, they're going to strengthen hate crime law in addition to handing out grc's to anyone who wants one. They will have no idea (and may not care) on how these laws will interact.

Typo

borntobequiet · 30/06/2024 11:10

(And I have to say the moment she started speaking her tone said it all, really.)

Oh the tone! The tone! That’s a new one, I think.

“Woman, be quiet. I don’t like your tone.”

GailBlancheViola · 30/06/2024 11:10

They will have no idea (and may not care) on how these laws will interact.

I think they do know and they don't care. Much like they were warned and warned about the negative impacts of the GRA on women and they just carried on regardless because they didn't care.

GailBlancheViola · 30/06/2024 11:13

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 30/06/2024 10:57

How strange on both those, wonder what is going on.

TheKeatingFive · 30/06/2024 11:13

That being said I don't understand why they're pursuing it. The only explanation that makes sense is that they're true believers. Or are getting lobbying money that they'd lose if they didn't fake it.

Well there's definitely money involved.

But it's not so much that they are true believers, I think. It's the pressure from the junior members and the student labour societies. They seem to have a lot of influence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/06/2024 22:41

She interrupted him (heaven forbid!) because he was about to wheel out the same old scripted non answer.

But if I'd heard that I could have made my own mind up. As it was I have no idea what he was going to say so I'm left not knowing what his view is on the topic. I would have liked to have known.

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:16

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/06/2024 23:30

All those MPs in parliament should wait for their turn to speak and not interrupt!

The way MPs act in parliament is atrocious and immature. In no other professional situation would you get away with it. Using that as your example of how to behave is hardly convincing!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2024 11:16

It was Jane's question, she's entitled to ask it the way she wants. You can inform yourself easily about Starmer's previous statements.

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:18

FOJN · 29/06/2024 22:41

No plenty of women are quite irritated that a pesky woman didn't allow slippery Starmer to run the clock down without answering her very simple question.

If you're really interested in his answer he has been asked again, without interruption.

https://x.com/addicted2newz/status/1807058069941027227

Thank you, I really am interested. It's an important topic for me.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2024 11:18

It's an example of how people do behave in politics, not how people should behave in everyday life. HTH

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:20

JaneVapeman · 29/06/2024 23:03

@Riversideandrelax only if it's the first time you have heard him answer

Yes, it is the first time. I wanted to know what he thought on the topic as it's an important one for me.

FOJN · 30/06/2024 11:21

lcakethereforeIam · 30/06/2024 10:49

I...I once witnessed a...a...lip pursing!! 😳

I'm sorry for sharing that but I had to unburden myself <wails>

I see you, I hear you, your feelings are valid, I acknowledge your trauma.

I hope suitable therapy can assist you on your journey towards healing. 💐

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:23

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/06/2024 23:14

Let's just allow Starmer and other politicians to wheel out the same incoherent, self serving crap over and over again.

But then people listening would be aware of that. As it was people listening would not know his opinion on the topic.

FelineGood76 · 30/06/2024 11:24

Keir could use less than 10 words to clear up this issue. He chooses not to.

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:25

Sparticusoctopus · 29/06/2024 23:32

Yes. They should. I’m sick of the playground behavior in Parliament. If I behaved like that in meetings at work I’d be sacked. We can have differences of opinions and good debate without angrily shouting each other down.

I completely agree.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2024 11:25

Yes, it is the first time. I wanted to know what he thought on the topic as it's an important one for me.

I find it a little strange that you haven't informed yourself of the various party political positions already then if it's "important" to you.

Waitwhat23 · 30/06/2024 11:26

GailBlancheViola · 30/06/2024 11:10

I think they do know and they don't care. Much like they were warned and warned about the negative impacts of the GRA on women and they just carried on regardless because they didn't care.

It's like how the Scottish Government (and all parties) were warned repeatedly that the GRR bill would impact equality legislation across the whole of the UK. They ignored the warnings, pushed ahead and then had the humiliation of the section 35.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2024 11:26

As I said, if you don't like how parliament works, write in and complain. It's been the same for centuries.

EasternStandard · 30/06/2024 11:26

Riversideandrelax · 30/06/2024 11:23

But then people listening would be aware of that. As it was people listening would not know his opinion on the topic.

We know his useless lines

He doesn’t clear up the inherent contradiction and is pretty much lying

He also can’t hear women over his bluster so Jane did brilliantly
