Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

This really comes down to your area and your own beliefs I think. Mine is an actual Tory stronghold but I think the votes will be quite chipped away at. Therefore spoiling may be too big a risk as I want an Opposition that will hold the government to account, and other parties seem to be doing a lot to get in here.

I am in this exact situation - the Greens look like they may take the safe Tory seat especially so as Reform will def split the Tory vote (rural area and the farmers are pissed at the Tories).
It's a difficult one.

Cantrushart · 30/06/2024 10:04

I don't want to spoil my slip, but reading through the candidates in my constituency, I found an independent who I could get behind. There's also SDP, and JK is suggesting people check out the communist party.

Underthinker · 30/06/2024 09:08

Yes one side physically assaults and threatens death and rape, the other sighs at a politician. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

You are deliberately misrepresenting what I’ve said. This is what I mean. We need sensible rational debate. On this thread I have been addressed in aggressive ways just for expressing frustration that Jane kept interrupting and talking over KS. It’s just unnecessary. Be angry. Fight for our rights. But don’t attack everyone that doesn’t see things in exactly the same way as you.

redfacebigdisgrace · 30/06/2024 10:08

Haha at the both sides argument. Unbelievable. Trumpesque in fact.

Ok. How do you suggest we do that?

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 30/06/2024 10:11

Honestly, if posters refuse to see that not letting a politician run the clock down on the radio is holding them to account, there's no point. It's been explained but there's none so blind as will not see.

Just don't bother.

ActivePeony · 30/06/2024 10:12

FelineGood76 · 30/06/2024 10:08

Sit quietly, put our hands up and wait until asked. Obviously.

redfacebigdisgrace · 30/06/2024 10:13

You're making yourself look ridiculous here @Sparticusoctopus . It’s been explained many times that Jane talked over KS as he went into his usual obfuscating monologue. Thank god she did talk over him and interrupt him as he would have just yabbered on as usual not answering the question. Her interruption highlighted the fact he was avoiding the question. So what if it looked rude. Needs must.

JaneVapeman · 30/06/2024 10:13

@Sparticusoctopus it's feeling pretty hopeless going around in circles.

As I said previously, to those of us who have heard starmer reply before on this topic, it was crystal clear that he was starting his sentences with his usual lines like an actor on cue?.
I can't understand why you can't understand why Jane had to stop that because she's heard it, before.

I can't understand why you feel she should have allowed him to carry on saying meaningless rehearsed lines?
. I also can't understand why your struggling with robust challenging on a topic that will affect all our lives.

Our mps should be held to account..

Jane had to stop Starmer using the same old CPS lines because he runs the clock down with deflection and ignores women

Over a year this has been the case

Jane did brilliantly to say I don’t care about that

AInightingale · 30/06/2024 10:16

I wonder if Starmer's odd absence from the last LK show before the election has something to do with Labour desperately trying to cobble together a coherent response to the question he would inevitably have been asked. I would not have imagined even ten years ago that the leader of the Opposition would have been repeatedly grilled about 'women with penises' and toilets four days before a GE, but here we are.

Given that this situation has made very good use of women's socialised tendency to 'be kind' and 'be polite' and 'be nice', I actually think it sometimes IS necessary to set that aside, be blunt, be bold, and yes, be loud.

Being quiet and polite does not get us where we need to go.

We must be quiet and polite and reasonable while women's rights are stripped away, and our ability to talk about it at all is criminalised?

Chersfrozenface · 30/06/2024 10:23

I'm mulling over a #BeMoreBoudica badge, TBH.

JaneVapeman · 30/06/2024 10:24

Honestly if we hadn't heard this recorded, what would people's perception of Jane be?

If I had not heard it, I would be thinking she must have been screaming at keir and yelling and been really rude.

Instead of simply asking him for an honest response in a firm way.

Would anyone like to start a Jane from london thread 2 : to follow this as we get closer to the election?

They've castrated and sterilised children! They've called lesbians 'sexual racists'! They've put rapists in women's jails!

I'm just surprised we're not all out there screaming at the sky, 24 hours a day, tbh.

ohdearz · 30/06/2024 10:39

She was not impressive in the least with her screeching, snorting and not listening - Nicky Campbell had to ask her to actually listen to the answer several times. Keir Starmer's answer was measured and compassionate to all parties, which is what we need, not more division and giving endless airtime to this weird obsession with a single issue that does not need to be divisive. Live and let live.

(And I have to say the moment she started speaking her tone said it all, really.)

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/06/2024 10:40

@Clabony* *
What I raise an eyebrow to: people who say they are women scolding an ordinary woman querying the Labour Leader's fudged position wrt Safeguarding for Biological Women and Girls “

Youre doing the same again. Inferring that anyone who disagrees with you isn’t a woman.

The misogyny and lack of value for women on display here is quite something.

Come on. There has been tutting. And even, I seem to recall, eye rolling.

I wasn't going to mention this but I've seen some pretty aggressive head shaking.

The misogyny and lack of value for women on display here is quite something.

I'm actually quite surprised that the words shrill, hysterical and pearl clutching haven't been used yet. They normally are. Strident and over-emotional are used, though less often.

Men on the other hand are 'measured'. I'm surprised there wasn't strong, balanced and steady thrown in there.

Though I'm surprised misogynists heard Jane at all - women's voices are usually too shrill for them to hear properly.
