Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

All those MPs in parliament should wait for their turn to speak and not interrupt!

Yes. They should. I’m sick of the playground behavior in Parliament. If I behaved like that in meetings at work I’d be sacked. We can have differences of opinions and good debate without angrily shouting each other down.

FOJN · 29/06/2024 23:34

Sparticusoctopus · 29/06/2024 23:24

Oh I see. So because you are being aggressive and bullying, that’s my fault for responding? You are beginning to sound like a Russian bot trying to stir up division.

We want the same thing. I want to protect women’s spaces too. Im concerned about the erosion of our rights.

I don’t think talking aggressively over people and angrily shouting them down is a good thing to do. I’d hold a man to those same standards. You can be assertive and even interrupt someone in far more skilled ways.

Contributing isn't compulsory.

We have pointed out how long women have fought to get a hearing with Starmer and you're here telling us he wants respectful dialogue as if it's our fault that hasn't happened, it's patronising. He managed to avoid speaking about it to women in his party for four years, literally refused to meet with them, and you're surprised we feel angry. He's a liar, it's that simple.

You gave yourself away when you said, regardless of gender, no one who cares about single sex spaces uses the word gender in that context.

And after having made so much of "being accused" you're here accusing me of being a Russian bot. PP is correct you're a hypocrite.

How is that useful or even close to the pp posts

I reserve the right to find the rhetoric around this issue toxic and to not like the way you are addressing me. You are being super aggressive and that stops me from listening to your points.

So, Jane's rhetoric was toxic because she sighed, interrupted and stated that there was a load of twaddle coming out of KS.

Women are saying they want single sex spaces, services and sports to be single sex, no men with or without a GRC in them. No mangling of language either. That's toxic is it?

Compare that to the other side where threats of death, rape, sexual violence, loss of employment, hounding of women and their families is the order of the day.

Do you wonder why Jane wants to remain anonymous knowing that if TRAs find out who she is she will be subject to all the above?

And somehow the women on here and Jane are the toxic ones? Incredible.

I bet you wouldn't have the guts to tell the other side they are bullying, aggressive and toxic, would you? You and Keir Starmer are on the same team there as he has never once condemned that side even when they are members of his own party meting out the abuse towards women.

It's called bridging and it's one of the first media techniques you are taught as an aspiring politician. Sadly it means that (as evidenced by KS) answering any question simply becomes a matter of spouting the line that you want to talk about. Whenever KS is asked about VAWG, he refers to his time in the CPS and it makes me want to scream! I don't really care about what you did 10 years ago, I want to know what you are going to do now. Frankly, if he can't even bring himself to condemn the threats against his own candidate, then I can't trust him on VAWG
Deeds not words Kier, deeds not words

I think for deeds, you will find tories politicians better.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 29/06/2024 20:01

She was brilliant. How any woman can vote for KS is beyond me. Mumsnet seem to like him tho.

Who do you suggest we vote? I don't want to waste my ballot. I have had enough of Tories and don't like Reform.

I also noticed he did that with the first caller who said that she had to remortgage her house to pay for private school fees because there was no state school for her son. Something like that anyway.

He answered about appreciating many people work hard and save etc etc but this policy is for all children etc etc. The caller had clearly said it hadn’t been a choice, but the reply was chatbot standard response repeated over and over re this topic. I would have been really frustrated as that caller was extremely articulate about her situation.

The caller had to remortgage the house thanks to bad policies of Tories. KS cannot fix the bad economy created over the years by Tories so fast. Give him some time before you judge him.

JaneVapeman · 30/06/2024 07:27

I think a major point that isn't being stressed enough is our fear, Jane from london said on this thread she's afraid of speaking out, she doesn't have jk Rowling money and protection.

. If anyone else Manages to raise this with anyone in labour / mentioning the scary backlash agaisnt speaking out would be an excellent point to make.
We are all afraid to publicly speak out now, how will ks protect us, when their rights grow?

He won't. This sums it up well:

"The guiding principle for risk assessments in my career was simply this:

The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.

All those rallies, protests, crowdfunders, all that patient lobbying: none of it shifted Labour’s position one iota. Their course is set."

x.com/theattagirls/status/1807061611678511402?s=46&t=WHoOZ_3Kv5G6-FyQuvE0LQ

We've done letters, we tried to meet MPs, on the rare occasion Labour's engaged, they've come out with dangerous ideas like teaching "safe" auto erotic self asphyxiation to teenagers, or intimidating opposition MPs, or hand waving away evidenced concerns about RSE materials, or including a male in a list of murdered women.

It really does go on and on with them - when they were in Opposition and chose not to hold the government to account.

If they are handed power, they'll use it. Women and children will suffer from their determination to finish what they started with the GRA.

Kiss goodbye to the protections we have got. They're about to go for longer than our lifetimes.

Given Angela Rayner still apparently thinks women's groups and LGB alliance are 'hate groups', I don't see them likely to do any protecting of people who don't go along with the gender orthodoxy.

Thanks for the link, Resister. Galling to see it written out.

'Labour's Gender Recognition Act 2004 is the primary violation in law of the sex class that is female and it violates our female sex class against our consent. It is a law that amounts to state-sanctioned predatory behaviour by males, including men who pretend they are not men.

Labour, via David Lammy, introduced, debated and passed the Gender Recognition Act under cover of the Iraq War, when media and public attention was necessarily elsewhere. Both the GRA 2004 and Equality Act 2010 s7 "Gender Reassignment" have the intent and effect of abusing women and girls.

Both are extraordinary in that they are state-sanctioned abuse of girls and women, written in law, by UKLabour'

Bear in mind, too, that women have been arrested for 'being rude' and taken to court over - a photo of ribbons; calling a man a 'pig in a wig'; being 'untoward about paedophiles'.

Women must know their place, stay quiet, and sit nice.

JaneVapeman · 30/06/2024 07:50

I think this speficic issue on this ie fear of backlash needs to be asked to one of them.

It's worse than I ever thought.

@ResisterOfTwaddleRex

I'm not worried about me ( touch wood), it's my daughters, one older teen and one just about to start secondary I'm concerned about. When the older one started secondary it was peak trans wave hitting us.
I had to move her school because it had taken hold in her first one. Everything is normal and balanced and settled for her but it's no 2..so young and vulnerable I'm concerned about, she's had to go to the same school.
Both will be young and vulnerable to the threat.
It's hard enough trying to convey in an age appropriate way stranger danger and so on... I don't know how to communicate and make turn aware of this..

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 30/06/2024 08:01

Already having to work out the secondary move @JaneVapeman precisely because the school we "should" be going into, is totally captured.

My biggest fear with a Labour government is that we will return to not being able to call a man a man. The ability to use accurate language has really helped to remove some confusion and convey the problems with self ID.

I worry that our rights will be removed and we will be silenced.
