Or Bras for that matter. I've got a washing line for the first time ever but what is the done thing?

I don’t hang anything on a washing line, but when I did, that included knickers, bras and men’s underwear. I can’t imagine having doubts about doing that 🤷‍♀️

GrinAndBeerIt · 26/06/2024 23:09

I hang all underwear outside on the line like bunting.
I don't care what my neighbours think of it.

DamnNutella · 26/06/2024 23:13

Life is too short to care about what my neighbours ‘might’ think of my underwear choices.

NettleTea · 26/06/2024 23:14

the only time I didnt was when a boy who lived a couple of doors away from us was being a bit of a stalky pest to my daughter, so I didnt hang her underwear out. He was welcome to look at my big apple catchers, but I dont think they would have had the same effect

Floatlikeafeather2 · 26/06/2024 23:20

Our neighbour, when I was a child, never hung any underwear out, so we just assumed she didn't wear any.

@Barney16

They’re from M&S.

Edingril · 27/06/2024 10:23

Why wouldn't I?

Blubbled · 27/06/2024 10:32

I hardly ever hang ANYTHING out on my line because I live in Ireland and even when it's sunny here, it can rain at any time....it can even rain whilst the sun is shining!
But no, I never hang underwear nor any small items out on the line, I only hang bigger things and only when we're having a drought or it could be drenched in a heartbeat! Also, I wouldn't want people going round the place gossiping about my knickers because, well, rural Ireland😉😁!

Blarn · 27/06/2024 10:50

Dear Lord no, I smuggle them from the washing machine to a room with a lock on just for drying underwear, no one must suspect I wear underwear.

Everything gets hung up, I love the small of outside dried clothes. Line fresh pants are a summer treat!

KimberleyClark · 27/06/2024 10:54

Yes. It’s not a rotary one, just a line between the house and a tree. We did have a rotary one once but lost the hole.

Fontainebleau007 · 27/06/2024 10:59

No, definitely not. God forbid somebody sees a pair of knickers!

Jokes aside, Of course I do. It's all laundry and it needs drying. knickers, bras, boxers, socks... no different to a t shirt imo.

fishonabicycle · 27/06/2024 11:01

Of course not! God forbid anyone thinks I wear underwear! I've got my reputation to think of.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 27/06/2024 11:03

I don't because my garden is communal and so is the washing line.

Projectme · 27/06/2024 11:10

MonsteraMama · 26/06/2024 21:24

Yep, I've got one socktopus for socks and one for undies. My mam thinks it's vulgar but she also thinks eating a sausage roll while walking down the street makes me a godless slattern so I tend not to listen to her.

our mum's are from the same mould!

Also, washing line pegs MUST NOT be left out on the line; they have to be brought in along with the dry washing. 😆

Brighteyedtriangle · 27/06/2024 11:12

No they go in the boiler cupboard and dry in a day in there. Infact I wish I could hang everything in there as theres only about 2 months in the year I can hang washing out without it raining at some point but it's too small

Testina · 27/06/2024 11:14

My underwear is for my husband’s eyes only…

Of course you put them on the washing line! The done thing?!!!!!

Pickledprawn · 27/06/2024 11:15

If your knickers aren't fit for the washing line then you need to bin them and buy more knickers! Grin

MistyGreenAndBlue · 27/06/2024 11:18

No. It's too much faff. But I do put them outside on the maiden if it's not too windy. We had a socktopus but it broke and I never bothered replacing it.

How did you 'lose the hole'?

AuntieMaud · 27/06/2024 11:22

Yes OP but strictly only at half past nine.

Google has it 👀 we used to sing it and it was so naughty.

WickedSerious · 27/06/2024 11:23

Yes,but I know a lot of people who don't.

beckybarefoot · 27/06/2024 11:25

Yes... if someone really needs to look and judge me by my underwear then they really need to get a hobby!

It does make me giggle when my giant old woman pants and massive boulder holder bras are hung up next too my 22 year old daughters bits of string

What's a maiden?
