Man in the street? Is that why he dresses like he got lost from a grouse shoot?

Exactly! Hardly a average Joe...

Today Reform are saying they’ll cancel Britain’s membership of the WEF.

We’re not members of the WEF, in fact no country is.

Once again Farage lies and his smooth brained acolytes lap it up.

@ilovesooty

So one of the Left Behind areas, with high levels of deprivation and, presumably due to the low numbers of young people, lack of job opportunity.

People who've been failed and let down by both Labour and the Conservatives. Is it any wonder if they might turn to another party?

Whether or not Reform is the answer is irrelevant. The point is that had either Labour or the Tories addressed the legitimate concerns and struggles of people there, then they wouldn't feel the need to look elsewhere.

‘People who've been failed and let down by both Labour and the Conservatives. Is it any wonder if they might turn to another party?’

I take issue with this comment. I know people who live there. They are not all victims. Some of them are wilfully ignorant and entitled. One is a BNP supporter who’s mainly worked cash in hand as painter and decorator. Now he’s older he’s always up the hospital despite paying almost zero tax.

Reform Party = Evil
Stalin = Not evil

Ok

My Momentum friends aren’t communists. They just worry about the environment and don’t like seeing kids starve so that shareholders can make more money. They might be idealistic but they’re certainly not Stalinists, nor are they evil.

So who is Momentum supporting in the next elections?

I don’t know, I’m not a Momentum supporter. I guess most would be supporting the Greens or an independent candidate.

DH is a Momentum supporter. He's voting Green. Most of the people like him hate Starmer more than the Tories and spend more time slagging him off. They aren't voting Labour.

Sorry if I made the assumption that you referencing Stalin in response to my mention of Momentum was in error. But I don’t understand what you were actually referring to?

You're fine.
I was just trying to make a point about calling things evil where it's unwarranted 🙂

I don’t think calling Farage evil is unwarranted. I’ve never called Reform voters evil, but Farage is utterly toxic and proves it every time he opens his mouth.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 21/06/2024 23:25

Speaking of evil, Farage came out batting for Putin tonight. That makes it clear to me who’s funding him and why. He’s a fifth columnist. A vote for Reform is a vote for Russia - a country which committed a biological weapons attack on our soil and has threatened us with nuclear weapons.

Anyone voting for this clown is voting against our national security, and that makes them a traitor.

You don’t think stripping women, disabled people, gay people and ethnic minorities of their protections and rights by scrapping the equalities act is evil? Why does he want to do this? He already thinks we shouldn’t get maternity pay. Are you not scared of this?

Do you think Andrew Tate and Putin are evil? Farage admires them both. What kind of amoral reprobate would admire those two?

There's no such thing as the Equalities Act. They do want to replace the Equality Act though.

Proof that he said he admires them, and precisely what about them he admires please.

HowoftenshouldIdothis · 22/06/2024 12:58

Not going to comment on Nigel Farage especially as I don't know what he's said about the Equality Act.

But, as if disabled people's rights or those of women are being well protected right now. As if!

The UN has condemned the UK for its abuse of disabled people, and it doesn't seem like women's rights are being protected so well either. Funding cuts and poor provision of DV services for a start, but other issues too.

Perhaps the Act is doing better at protecting ethnic minorites and gay people (at least those who aren't disabled or women) so great, but it's definitely in need of some serious improvements. For a start, legal aid cuts mean there's a lack of solicitors able or willing to enforce breaches.

I don't know what Reform have said about the Act, so can't comment on their plans, but had to point out the current failures.

SerendipityJane · 22/06/2024 15:13

Do you really think not knowing anything about a subject would stop Nigel Farage talking about it ?

CoatRack · 22/06/2024 20:27

So that's a No to admiration of Tate, and an admiration of Putin's political prowess.

Come on now. If Farage was half as evil as you think he is, you wouldn't have to be clutching at straws like this.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 22/06/2024 21:08

This whole thing stinks of Russian meddling. From the mysterious “gangs” sending small boats over, to the destabilising effect of Brexit on both the UK and EU, to Reform’s policies which favour Russian oil & gas interests. It’s crystal clear. Reform = Putin. Don’t risk it.

Hatfullofwillow · 22/06/2024 21:14

I'd rather they got in, failed miserably and were binned, than what most people think is going to happen. A Labour Party failing to deliver and thus ushering in the most rightwing government in our modern history.

sprigatito · 22/06/2024 21:34

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 09/06/2024 09:31

Reform will privatise health in the UK. This means companies will profit from our illnesses, and corners will be cut to maximise that profit.

Look at the people who run the company “Reform Ltd”, this is entirely as you might expect - they are maxi-capitalists, aiming to profit by exploiting the people they claim to speak for and luring them into it with a false panacea, by scapegoating migrants - the only layer of society considered “beneath” them.

I’m not saying people are thick. But if they use their precious vote for the private company “Reform Ltd” they are making an objectively poor choice which will hurt them in the long run. When the underpaid migrant labour is gone, it’s exactly these people who will be underpaid and exploited, there is absolutely no way people like Tice & Farage would benevolently pay amazing wages all of a sudden. Reform is a vote for your own exploitation.

What nonsense.
There's nothing mysterious about people smuggling, it happens all over the world. Big surprise it also occurs along our narrow channel, heading towards a country which is a known soft touch.
The people voted for Brexit (twice). It had sod all to do with Russia.
On which page of the manifesto is the bit about oil and gas that has you so worried?

i don't know who issued the software update which made everyone start harping on about Reform having a company, but are we allowed to look at who runs The Conservative Party Foundation Ltd, or Labour Party Properties Ltd?

LPPL is especially fun if you're a fan of companies paying no tax for years on £5m+ of rental properties.

Not buying it. Brexit destabilised western European cohesion and isolated the UK. Reform’s idiotic proposal to leave the WHO (of which even North Korea is a member) is more isolationist nonsense.

People voted for Brexit based on lies spread by Russian interests including Banks, Farage and Tice. The people on those boats often come from places where Russia has a physical presence on the ground. It’s a perfect strategy to foment discord, split opinions, weaken political power and allow Russian interests to dominate.

Rolling back net zero strategies benefits Russia by continuing our dependence on oil and gas, Russia’s biggest export.

To me it’s abundantly clear, coordinated and insidious. Reform and Farage are a security risk operating opaquely and exploiting the poorest people’s votes to exert Russian influence on our parliament.
