To think it was obvious they were for the kids??

DS is having a little play date today, low key birthday “party” but DS doesn’t really do parties so it’s more of a gloried play date.
Yesterday I did some baking … 8 sausage rolls, 8 scotch eggs, 8 jam slags and 8 chocolate brownies.

Came down this morning and most of it is gone, I text DH asking if he’d touched the baking and he said yes, he’d taken it for work.

im fuming, isn’t it fucking obvious that they were for the kids for today?? He’s insisting that it was not obvious. This is not the first time he’s done something like this.

Sounds like the baiting tactics used by narcissists, particularly covert narcissists. Married to one for 24 years and never did a special occasion go by without being spoilt in some way by him

QueensOfTheVolksAge · 09/06/2024 15:54

@VoiceOfReason3 I've been trying and trying to tag you, in between all my baking for men that I must do in order to be nice and thoughtful and to know my place, but sadly it says "voiceofreason" and not your actual name, "voiceofmisogynisticfossil3". Ah well, hopefully you'll see my post, hope you don't get any of your wife's sausage roll crumbs on your screen.

Read the post!! Why should she have to go to Greggs to replace delicious homemade things?? FFS - are you taking his side?

I didn't realise unmarried men were allowed on Mumsnet.

What? How do you know the background of anyone posting?!

I think you've missed the satire in Laurmolonlabe's post and got yourself tied up in something else.

Just make more or go and buy some, really not worth arguing about.

Good idea! Those poor party guests have been waiting to be fed for over a week.

Whilst your husband was a little unthoughtful and arguably selfish to take some of the baking, why didn't you make a few extra for his lunch and tell him you had. That would have been an incredibly nice thing to do that wouldn't have taken anymore time. There's an argument that you have also been a little selfish and unthoughtful here. Also posting a relatively trivial personal issue on a public forum in order that your anger gets justified by other people with confirmation bias is not really the best way to go about things and is rather unfaithful to your relationship. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if your husband took to forums to embarrass you every time you make a mistake

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Love the wind up gobshite posts.

😂😂😂Nice one.

Just one question, if this post is for real. Why have you changed all the baking, as stated in the OP, to some of the baking. It’s an important feature of the scenario. If it was just some of the baking, many of the responses may have been different. Why have you changed all to some?

Correction, it was most rather than all. But my point stands. Most and some are quite different, so why change it?

People want to let off their partners by blaming their sex instead of them.

Home-made generally wasted on DCs. Buy in and let them get on with it. It's adults who appreciate home baking etc - though my DCs did like homemade bread, mainly, I think, because I made plaited loaves.
NB Scotch eggs are supposed to be deep-fried - not exactly healthy. (I do them with low-fat mince and bake them, but that's an entirely different ball game.)

Of course it doesn’t let him off but that’s how they are. They don’t think about others just themselves. Clear enough? Men are idiots. Clearer???

Fair enough, but if they are too stupid then it is not fair to be anoyed.

Allshallbewell2021 · 13/06/2024 13:15

Dd has school lunches at the moment - but in the past the packed lunch treats were always being plundered by DH who couldn't give a c*. All the food in the house is his birthright! Excess Easter eggs included. Any treats we have he comes and peers at in case he can claim it as his.

Hilarious and we are used to it,

Allshallbewell2021 · 13/06/2024 13:16

I've often found really out of date treats I've hidden from DH who can sniff them out so well that they get hidden even from myself.

DollyDaffodils1989 · 13/06/2024 14:45

YANBU, he should have known the food was for the kids!!! Leave that man immediately!!!!!

Good grief! You know this is far from normal?
