To think it was obvious they were for the kids??

DS is having a little play date today, low key birthday “party” but DS doesn’t really do parties so it’s more of a gloried play date.
Yesterday I did some baking … 8 sausage rolls, 8 scotch eggs, 8 jam slags and 8 chocolate brownies.

Came down this morning and most of it is gone, I text DH asking if he’d touched the baking and he said yes, he’d taken it for work.

im fuming, isn’t it fucking obvious that they were for the kids for today?? He’s insisting that it was not obvious. This is not the first time he’s done something like this.

True, sadly. They are mostly completely oblivious to this sort of thing.

Oblivious to what? Not knowing that food that you didn't buy, weren't offered or didn't prepare isn't necessarily for you?

This is up there with people who take the specially prepared vegetarian plate at an event leaving none for the actual vegetarians. Entitled, ignorant dickheads.

Next time bake something drenched in laxative.
After literal shitshow at work he may get the message.

@Birump please please do this!!!

Great idea @LondonFox

I would be totally and utterly livid if dp did this! I often bake sausage rolls and pies solely for dp to take to work.

He would never ever take any without checking first. It is manners if nothing else.

So you told him and he wouldn’t bring them home!!! He’d be under the flipping patio if I was due on.

I am angry for you. Don’t get mad though, get even. Laxatives in the next lot 😁

ConstitutionHill · 01/06/2024 14:10

Whoa. That's a real ick right there!

A greedy, selfish person who would nick the treats for their own kid's party.

Really unattractive and I can't imagine ever fancying them again.

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/06/2024 14:11

I’d love to know who has voted YABU Op?!

HereForTheFreeLunch · 01/06/2024 14:13

I hope you went and got the best, most special and most expensive goodies you could buy for your DS's birthday party.
And I hope he had a great time!

I guess OP's 'D'H and his jam slag scoffing friends are here!

I’d love to know who has voted YABU Op?!

Probably @LonelyBones who called her thoughtless for not baking him enough to take to work since he enjoys her baking....

Either that or her abusive husband's found AIBU.

DailyEnergyCrisis · 01/06/2024 14:24

Really fancy a cuppa tea and a jam slag now (whatever they are).

yes- he was selfish, can’t believe he’d do that to his child on a birthday.

MonsteraMama · 01/06/2024 14:24

Are you married to a raccoon? If nothing else that's a huge amount of food for one person to have for lunch! I'm no Mumsnet teeny tiny, I can put away a good few sausage rolls, but 8 sausage rolls, 8 scotch eggs, 8 brownies and 8 jam slags whatever they are? For lunch? Nah. He's either part trash panda or he's done this on purpose for whatever horrible reason you'd steal children's party food.

Theredoubtableskins · 01/06/2024 14:26

If you think he has done this deliberately then that pretty much shows what sort of person he presents himself as to his family. If that’s what you think of him then he must be a pretty selfish shitty person. Why are you with someone like that?

Have you managed to sort something out for the party?

Theredoubtableskins · 01/06/2024 14:26

And why did he take so much? I think that backs up the idea that he did this on purpose. He knew what he was doing.

Rightsraptor · 01/06/2024 14:27

I can see it might be a genuine mistake if he'd taken one sausage roll and one jam thingy, but he didn't: as you say he took most of it. May I suggest you insert any remaining jam slags up where the sun don't shine? On your H, of course.

My ex would do similar stuff but not this bad. If I tried to get ahead for the next morning by laying the table for breakfast at night, he'd come home (he worked very silly hours) and use the crockery & cutlery etc on the table.

I think it's a form of jealousy.

Emeraldsrock · 01/06/2024 14:29

Wow. I’d be locking him out the house if he didn’t bring them back for the party. What an utter dick!

Boogiemam · 01/06/2024 14:32

The fact that he's not remorseful for potentially ruining his kids party speaks volumes to what kind of bloke he is. IF and big if, it was a genuine mistake he would try his hardest to bring them back or order a whoosh / deliveroo / urgent delivery or be profusely apologising for making such a thoughtless "mistake".

I'm guessing you've had to now rush around to clean up his mess.

LookItsMeAgain · 01/06/2024 14:40

My suggestion to this discussion would be to give your DH a blow to the head with a frying pan and when he is out, drive and dump his comatose body by the dumpsters behind a Greggs, with pastry crumbs a plenty on his clothing.

Make sure it's not a local Greggs and don't leave any identification on him either.

Who wants to drive???

In all fairness, don't be including him in what you cook for the family for the time being. When he apologises, and only when he apologises, should he be included in the pot.

diddl · 01/06/2024 14:43

So he hates his son?

Chaiilatte · 01/06/2024 14:44

Jam slags 😂

nocoolnamesleft · 01/06/2024 14:46

What a selfish bastard.

Chaiilatte · 01/06/2024 14:46

But no YANBU. Did he know you were having a children's get together? Perhaps he thought they'd be spare, but it's still selfish and greedy, he should have asked.

Incakewetrust · 01/06/2024 14:48

Cut holes in the front of all his boxers. When he asks why just say "it wasn't obvious that you needed them. I thought I could take them"

Birump · 01/06/2024 14:51

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/06/2024 13:36

My mum used to make something similar but called it a big jam tart! The jam ball was a ball of pastry with jam in that sat on top.

Your H is a dick.

Yes that’s it! ☺️

I'm sure he can come back from work and bake some replacements

Where does it say ‘he took a couple of sausage rolls?’ I can’t see that in the OP??

JamSlags · 01/06/2024 14:56

What a selfish dick. Poor DS.

Did he just take some for himself, or take most of it to give to his workmates? Either way, I hope you had enough to make the party a success.

IVbumble · 01/06/2024 14:58

I think he's a Jam Slag .... with his little jammy balls.

LostTheMarble · 01/06/2024 15:00

TonTonMacoute · 01/06/2024 14:02

True, sadly. They are mostly completely oblivious to this sort of thing.

No they’re not. Stop it, women like you let men get away with their deliberate incompetence just because you believe their penis power makes them dunderheads with any household chore or event. They know exactly what they’re doing, they simply dont care.
