The general feeling on social media is that the Tories will be obliterated in the upcoming GE. AIBU to not be surprised if they get voted in again?

I'll be voting Labour as I have always done.

Labour for me. I would vote Green but Labour is the next biggest party in my constituency (I live in a swing seat).

Did Starmer say that? Or did Sunak keep claiming it, rudely talking over the host and Starmer, despite it having absolutely no basis in reality?

Sunak was of course lying that Labour would impose a £2,000 tax rise on everyone.

Reality check: the truth behind the Tories’ £2,000 tax claim

All you need to know about Rishi Sunak’s tax claim, from who costed the figures, and how, to why it’s so controversial

I would rather shit in my hands and clap than vote labour...the conservatives are also a massive joke! In my area that leaves either the green party or lib dems! I will not vote for the lib dems because of their patronising behaviour during brexit and voting for the greens seems like a waste of a vote!

Pippippip2024 · 06/06/2024 10:06

@lovelysunshine22 i feel exactly the same as you!

So what's your plan? Independent?

lovelysunshine22 · 06/06/2024 10:50

@Itsrainingten nope! The independent is just a tory going by another name!

LostTheMarble · 06/06/2024 11:05

Not Labour right now. They have absolutely no solid plan, all they putting out is ‘everything will change!’ with zero to back it up in real time. Just ‘Not Being The Tories’ isnt good enough. I simply don’t trust them with the economy, their education plan is absolutely pants (and don’t get me started on their nothing policy on SEN) and we all know what little they think of women’s rights.

Im waiting for a decent Indy candidate in my area. If not, I will consider voting Conservative. I have no issue with our current MP.

And didn’t you hear Starmer last night about crippling working families with even more tax? Why are you willing to vote for someone who will cripple your financial situation even more? Genuine question, I just don’t understand.

The £2000 increase in tax was a lie, it's been all over the media today (apart from the obvious ones!) that it was a lie. The £2000 increase was actually over 4 years (so £500 per year) and then the £500 was how much tax would go up on average. So it could be that the super rich have their tax go up by £1500 and the super poor have their tax go down by £1000, for example.

frankentall · 06/06/2024 11:49

Also applying the same parameters to Rishi's plans gave a figure of £3000!

Wow. I didn't know this. That is absolutely shocking performance by Rishi on the debate then. I really hope Starmer does better on the BBC one tomorrow

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 06/06/2024 12:01

Not got any faith in any of them sadly, I'll see what they have to say for the next few weeks. Possibly I won't bother x

He’s not on tomorrow. The main parties are putting deputies up. I’m looking forward to watching Rayner and Farage clash - I know which my money’s on.

Itsrainingten · 06/06/2024 12:24

I don't think I'd be able to watch Farage without throwing something at the telly

Itllfalloff · 07/06/2024 10:15

Labour. Bye bye Tories ...

KimberleyClark · 07/06/2024 10:44

Labour. I live in a constituency which has been a Tory stronghold in the past, became Labour in 1997 and went Tory again in 2010. Was taken back by Labour in 2017 and our MP increased her majority in 2019 so I have no real fear that the Tories will win but I’m taking no chances.

Itllfalloff · 07/06/2024 17:58

Or green, as long as that doesn’t let a Tory in

If you tolerate this / Then your children will be next.

Vote. It's the very least you can do for them.
