There are so many benefits bashing threads on here I’m really starting to wonder. Do the majority of people posting on mumsnet lean heavily to the right?

So devon do you think mn is right wing or is op BU?

As o said upthread, I would say MN is left wing if anything (might not be as communist as some would like 😉)

cardibach · 19/05/2024 20:25

Yes. It’s because of a bias towards Tories from the press. They kick off the questioning but give Tories a free pass.

Well that gave me a giggle -the media giving the Tories a free pass!!

hahahahahahahahaha Deep breaths 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂… I’m sorry I just can’t…….

They usually provide cost analysis

The Telegraph, Express and Mail definitely give the Tories an easy time.

How left or right-wing are the UK’s newspapers? | YouGov

Complaints that the British press has a right-wing bias have long been made by left-wingers – but is this a state of affairs the public recognises?

The fact there are right supporting newspapers as well as left supporting newspapers does not equate to the British press giving the Tories a “ free pass” please say you can see the distinction

Care to name the left supporting ones?

Yep you’re right, it’s pretty obvious

I can see why the yabu vote is as it is though

cardibach · 19/05/2024 22:09

Yeah, most of those are centre/liberal. They just aren’t actually right wing. The press is overwhelmingly right wing in this country.

It’s not perspective though. If the guardian is ‘very left wing’ to you, then you are very right wing. It’s a liberal leaning paper. You can’t just declare it far left because you happen to be far right…

GivePeaceAChance · 19/05/2024 22:24

AdamRyan · 19/05/2024 19:42

Well, you know they can't because as soon as they say anything concrete the Tories nick it! Look at non doms. Half expecting VAT on school fees next

The Conservatives might not be great but they wouldn’t be so stupid.
After all they’re the only ones that have costed it…..

With all due respect you have no idea about my politics. I’m not “far right” I’m a floating voter, I have been paid up member of both Labour and the conservatives at various point. I support some various policies from various parties.

The Guardian is left leaning to me!

Devonbabs · 19/05/2024 19:47

This is the problem, there just aren’t enough nurses. Lost count of how many times I’ve been visiting one person in hospital and had to do something for someone else in the ward or fetched a nurse etc. I suspect those hospitals will be so understaffed they will be letting out those rooms privately or they will end up spending money going back to wards.

what about all the existing hospitals? There’s so much that we need to spend money on in the nhs, converting all existing hospitals to single rooms is so far down the list it’s not worth mentioning.

Agree I can see two to a room very quickly then the partitions coming down.
It’s really don’t think it’s workable, but I only design them ( which has to be in accordance with regs ) I don’t have to run or work in them.

I think it’s a waste of money

You didn’t say left leaning (which it is - a tiny bit left of centre). You said ‘very left wing’.

I've never seen a benefits bashing thread on here? And I'm embarrassed to say I am on here A LOT.

So either the OP is exaggerating and they saw one benefits bashing comment on a mainly left wing thread...OR we are being shown different threads to each other and there is an algorithm bias like other social media platforms.

A while ago someone asked if it was right that they are getting £4000pm in benefits.
A bizarre thread tbh

The posts were mainly supportive given the OPs circumstances ( 2 I think disabled kids) but there were quite a lot of shocked posters. A few (not many ) made inappropriate remarks

‘Left leaning’ and ‘very far left’ aren’t the same thing. If that’s the level of your political knowledge, it might be better to read than post so often. The Guardian is a liberal paper. Slightly left of centre.

Not to me! I’m sorry you can’t brow beat me into either shutting up or agreeing with you.

maybe if you’re going to debate you should learn how to discuss things

So @blossomtoes didn’t tell me to stop posting so often when I’m merely responding to direct quotes? You just want to quote me and not respond! Interesting!!!
