To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

Imagine swallowing water by accident. Beyond disgusting.

SeriaMau · 14/05/2024 20:33

I love going swimming. The smell of the chlorine always brings back happy childhood memories.
But…. Chlorine doesn’t smell. It only smells after reacting with ammonia, which comes from sweat and pee. If you can smell your pool, you are smelling pee.

I read about this experiment in Germany some years ago...not sure it was successful tho...depending on what you think successful is, I guess?!

Unfortunately this is chemically impossible.

If you mean a public swimming pool, when I was younger as a child I think we all did it occasionally. You knew it was naughty but if you didn’t know where the toilets were or couldn’t tell your parents you needed to go in time then you did it sneakily but tried not to do it.

I never wee in public swimming pools because it’s just gross, I don’t care what others do, but I know some kids do it, their parents don’t take them out to wee.

I also was with a friend once at a public swimming pool and she admitted to me she’d been for a wee in the pool because she didn’t know where the toilets were and she thought “it didn’t matter as there was chlorine in there anyway”. I think she thought I’d agree with her but I told her it was disgusting. This was someone I never thought would do this either.

I can believe that people do. It's why I don't go into pools. It's so disgusting.

Iwilladmit · 14/05/2024 20:32

I do.

adult female fwiw

Why? Why would you do this?

Iwilladmit · 14/05/2024 20:40

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 14/05/2024 20:38

Why? Why would you do this?

  1. loads of other people do so why not (maybe it’s just kids but even so if I’m swimming in kids’ wee I may as well swim in my own)
  2. I can’t be arsed to get out
  3. no-one knows and I can
SeriaMau · 14/05/2024 20:40

ouch321 · 14/05/2024 18:17

Wtf are all these people who think the pool is gross but it's just fine to do it in the sea. You're just as bad.
And 'well, the fish do it!' does not make it justified.

And just where to you think our sewage, untreated or otherwise, goes? Mind boggling ignorance.

transformandriseup · 14/05/2024 20:43

Never, I don't even like doing it in the sea.

Disgusting. I sincerely hope not. Don’t some pools have something in them that changes the colour of the water if you urinate?

Sadly that’s an urban myth.
So many dirty people about who want to swim in their own piss.

LadyHavelockVetinari · 14/05/2024 20:52

What the fuck??? No of course not. Do you shit in the park, too?

Exactly!
Mum has a private pool in South of France
it NEVER smells as no dirty bastards piss in it.

You say that but a few years ago I was walking a friend’s dog and the dog was sniffing around some undergrowth in a local park. I saw a man pulling up his trousers and saw, yes, a turd which must’ve been his.

I’ve got no idea if he was unwell or something but I just looked at him and shook my head and walked off.

anonissue · 14/05/2024 20:55

No no no!

Sea and shower yes. Everywhere else NO!

KellecoUK · 14/05/2024 20:56

I personally wouldn't, but now I'm just picturing the pool scene from the "Grown Ups" movie where all the men are peeing and the water changes colour! I was never sure if this was a myth or actually a true thing?
