To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

People do it, but the offenders aren't going to admit it.

But this is the reason you will never find me in a public pool. Or jacuzzi and especially any heated water that other people also go in. It's not just pee, look at how many people sweat in a warm jacuzzi. I still have not got over going to one some years back and a single braid floated past me.

I have my own pool (hot country, it's quite normal here) and I will swim in my own pool but I will sit out at any public water spot.

The sea is different to a degree. It's salt water which is self disinfecting. But there is all sort of other crap (literally) in there. But the salt water has other benefits so I keep my mouth firmly closed and always shower off after.

Yes I have peed in my own pool before. I don't make a habit of it though. 😂

TheAceWoman · 14/05/2024 19:55

Never in my life. Filthy!

OneBadKitty · 14/05/2024 20:07

Pools are disgustingly filthy anyway so it probably wouldn't make much difference. Everyone's vaginal secretions, sweat, spit, snot and faeces from their bodies is already floating around in the water.

PoppyCherryDog · 14/05/2024 20:08

Omg please tell me most people don’t??? I know I don’t.

Sarah2891 · 14/05/2024 20:10

Definitely not. That's so grim.

MikeRafone · 14/05/2024 20:12

My father complained as I wouldn't even pee in the sea - I made him walk me to the nearest public loo when away on holiday as a child. Things haven't changed and I still pee in a loo now

Mumofyellows · 14/05/2024 20:12

No no no! In the sea is different but not in the pool, yuck!!

Knitgoodwoman · 14/05/2024 20:13

No, most people don’t. I don’t know anyone that would. Absolutely disgusting.

Rocknrollstar · 14/05/2024 20:14

Of course not. Adults get out of the pool and go to the loo. We go adults only so the issue of kids does not arise.

theholesinmyapologies · 14/05/2024 20:14

Gross

Why I don't like public pools where drinking is going on, though, because there are some grim people out there.

babyproblems · 14/05/2024 20:16

I definitely don’t and wouldn’t! Gross!!!

Booksandflowers · 14/05/2024 20:20

No! To grim! I would in the sea though. I don’t think I could relax enough in the pool to go, even if I wanted to.

milveycrohn · 14/05/2024 20:21

No definitely not.
Most people, especially young people, should be able to go a few hours (several) before needing to pee.

Netflixreject · 14/05/2024 20:21

This has just given me the fear of ever going into a swimming pool again. That is absolutely disgusting for an adult to do that.

JohnSt1 · 14/05/2024 20:22

I hope most people don't do this, but it only takes one... 😱

ChristmasCwtch · 14/05/2024 20:22

No, I get out and go to a toilet. My young DC do the same

Zanatdy · 14/05/2024 20:22

Of course they do, they just don’t admit it

MumMumMumMumMumMumMum · 14/05/2024 20:23

Wtf. Even my 4 year old gets out for the toilet

Chypre · 14/05/2024 20:24

Surely not "most". As there are people who need to pee nearly every hour (me? anyone else?), and then there are people who only need to go 2-3 times A DAY. They probably manage to do it outside of the pool hours. Also, there are people (me...) who need outmost privacy to do it, and pool surely does not provide it. So, SOME people might do it in the pool, but realistically I think the proportion is very, very small + chlorine + water recirculation.

Lancasterel · 14/05/2024 20:26

Er no!! I can’t even wee in the sea, body won’t let me 😂

TeenLifeMum · 14/05/2024 20:26

Er no, I use a toilet.

oakleaffy · 14/05/2024 20:27

This is the reason I loathe public pools.
Dirty so and so’s and kids pee in them.

You might as well swim in a public toilet
Urine reacts with chlorine to make eyes sore

Private pools don’t make one’s eyes smart, as no one wants to piss in their own pool.

I haven’t been able to use a public pool for years after someone told me about piss in public pools making one’s eyes sting as it reacts with chlorine.🤢
Private pools at least people are fussier about.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 14/05/2024 20:31

Disgusting. I sincerely hope not. Don’t some pools have something in them that changes the colour of the water if you urinate?

Iwilladmit · 14/05/2024 20:32

I do.
