To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

Just fucking gross. Lazy, smelly cretins. Would you get out the pool in front of everyone and pee through your bikini.

oakleaffy · 14/05/2024 20:53

Exactly!
Mum has a private pool in South of France
it NEVER smells as no dirty bastards piss in it.

Similar to my DP’s private pool in SW France which never smells either as no one is allowed ever to pee in it. It’s saline too (no idea really why that’s better or not).

I don’t like swimming pools in case people are doing this. I hope everyone on the thread says they don’t do it!

The same here.
I don’t do this at the sea either, it’s usually packed the same as swimming pool.

14% actually voted not unreasonable which is concerning...

That could just mean they agree. That they think a lot of people do, not that they do.

Scottishlady2 · 14/05/2024 21:10

No way, that’s horrible op. Do you need a swim nappy ?

Candyfloss99 · 14/05/2024 21:11

No but I would expect a pool to be full of bodily fluids and substances as many people don't wash properly.

MartinsSpareCalculator · 14/05/2024 21:12

Nope. I also don't use communal pools or swim up bars because people stay there all day tipping beer in their faces without getting out.

Alicewinn · 14/05/2024 21:19

Sea yes pool no way

This is one of the reasons I prefer private villas to resort hotels. Grim.

So you don't think the people before you pissed in pool ?

BernardBlacksBreakfastWine · 14/05/2024 21:22

I don’t think OP said she did?

I don’t, no. I would consider it very uncivilised.

But I don’t know why everyone is going quite so bonkers about it. You know babies and toddlers are doing it. You must also know that the pool isn’t clean in any sense - people sweat, for a start, and then there’s all sorts of other oozing bodily fluids. Plus insects and the bottoms of people’s feet that have been all over the place round the pool.

I think in threads like this there’s an element of performative revulsion. Either that or people haven’t really thought a lot about the implications of, you know, living in a world with other people/animals. If you have a picnic/play in the park, you might easily be sitting where a dog crapped yesterday for example (owner picked it up but dog poo residue remains). The world is full germs, many of them worse than a bit of heavily diluted urine. I don’t want to see people peeing in the pool, but I’m happy enough to pretend it doesn’t happen and carry on swimming.

I wasn't going to burst that bubble 😅

Springtime111 · 14/05/2024 21:23

I can honestly say hand on heart I've never pee'd in a swimming pool. Just gross!

ontheflighttosingapore · 14/05/2024 21:24

I can't believe the amount of shock. Of course people do because they can't be arsed to get out and use the toilet. The chlorine will see to it and given the huge amount of water In a pool anyway it's hardly even there

The voice of reason!

According to this post most people go on holiday and don’t swim in the pool. I’m sorry but I just don’t believe that for one second.

They need those indicator dyes that highlight when someone has urinated in the water 💡

They don't exist. They are a prevalent myth though: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urine-indicator_dye

Maybe all the ones who did swim in
the pool on holiday are too traumatised to talk about it now after reading your OP 😂

but seriously I didn’t swim in the pool in any of the hotels I stayed at in Vietnam last month . I just couldn’t be bothered faffing about lol I don’t think everyone uses the hotel pools or they’d be much busier.

This post is the reason we only holiday in private villas with private pools.

Grim 🤮

How does this make a difference? Do you think they drain it and refill when the guests changeover? I don't.

Greenme · 14/05/2024 22:00

No, we get out and use the toilet however I don’t doubt that many people do wee in the pool.

Anyone recall the poster last year who said they never use a public swimming pool because it’s disgusting to swim in other women’s vaginal discharge? Some worry about wee, this poster thinks there is vaginal discharge floating everywhere.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 14/05/2024 22:21

It's honestly never occurred to me this happened. How horrible.

And how exactly do you police that?
