To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

We call them swim up toilets. If you watch the same people sit there all day drinking and not getting out.

User1979289 · 14/05/2024 18:24

I won't go in a pool with a swim up bar because men definitely piss in it - I have literally seen the water go yellow.

Sea wee = yes. Especially in a wetsuit; keeps you cozy.

Pool = ewww no. Don't assume people are peeing in the pool, just because they are in for a while. I have excellent bladder control!

So, you’d have to keep washing your wetsuit after every surf or bodyboard session. How is that practical unless you take spares with you? Also, often they are hired in holiday situations, what sort of person wees in a hired wetsuit?

No! 🤮🤮🤮. And a health risk to others.

Not a health risk. Just means the pool operator has to up the chemicals.

AmiShitsaline · 14/05/2024 18:33

I imagine most women don’t and most men probably do

mamaduckbone · 14/05/2024 18:35

Hell no - that's gross! In the sea, yes.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 14/05/2024 18:36

No. I go to the toilet before I get into the pool.

TikehauLilly · 14/05/2024 18:36

No way that's grim beyond belief

Only babies are allowed to wee in the pool because they produce teeny tiny wees not massive big 3 beer wees.

Yuk

That is truly disgusting

fungipie · 14/05/2024 18:37

NO I don't. And I ALWAYS shower properly before entering the pool. People who lather with suntan lotion, lie there sweating as sunbathing, and jump directly in pool are almost as disgusting as those who pee in.

suburburban · 14/05/2024 18:38

No never

The thing is, though, you are unlikely to get many people coming on and saying they do. There is a massive bias on these types of thread!

Exactly. It’s like the litter threads, or the poo bags hung from trees. Chances are nobody’s going to admit to being a peeping tom either, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Doseofreality · 14/05/2024 18:41

This post is the reason we only holiday in private villas with private pools.

Grim 🤮

mammaCh · 14/05/2024 18:41

Eeeeeeee no, no, NO!
Sea, yes.
Pool most definitely not! That disgusting... I really hope most people don't do that?!

That's a revolting thought.
The pool with a swim-up bar, not the peeing in the pool. That's a revolting fact, unfortunately

rainbowbee · 14/05/2024 18:52

Sea yes, pool no. That's disgusting. You should get out to use the loo and teach children to respect the communal space too.

Riversideandrelax · 14/05/2024 18:03

Swim nappies don't absorb the water.

Then how would they absorb the pee?

K0OLA1D · 14/05/2024 18:54

BarHumbugs · 14/05/2024 18:53

Then how would they absorb the pee?

They don't. They catch poo.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 14/05/2024 18:58

In the sea, not a pool. My husband can’t even go in the sea!

I thought the same as OP on hols in March. People were drinking for hours at the swim up bars. I bet some of them were peeing. But, I couldn’t be bothered to be overly concerned. Swimming pools must be full of all sorts of bodily fluids, poo particles, snot, semen etc etc

OhmygodDont · 14/05/2024 19:00

I must say a family member of mine went away with their elderly grandparents and frankly them peeing in the pool would be preferable to the fact they 💩 in various places no fucks shits given. I’d no doubt some nuggets where in the pool even if technically in the swimwear.

but no I don’t pee in the sea or the pool or my own pool.

Rubyupbeat · 14/05/2024 19:04

I remember being quite young and on holiday and weeing in the pool, something we were told never to do. My dad was in the pool with us and my mum asked when we got out if I had weed, I said no, but She caught me out, the coffee bar was around the pool and underneath with huge glass viewing panels and I had been right next to where she sat when I weed, she never referred to it again, jut I was so embarrassed, it never happened again!

Shade17 · 14/05/2024 19:30

caringcarer · 14/05/2024 18:14

Yup. I think that would stop the problem.

They don’t exist.

Wrenbird27 · 14/05/2024 19:34

We went to a lovely resort in Spain last summer with our kids and there was a gorgeous big pool with a cocktail bar. The toilets were close by and had tumbleweed blowing through them! I never had to queue for the toilet - not once. Even though the pool was always busy. And people were clearly drinking lots of water, etc as it was hot. I was fascinated....and turned off pools for life! I suppose there was an option to go back to your accommodation but that was a bit of a trek. Lots of families who stayed around the pool all day.

Everywhere else - restaurants, shopping centres, museums...there were people in and out of the toilets. But the pools...no.

And this was a very nice, upmarket Holiday Resort.

We all had a tummy bug by the end of the holiday and I'm convinced it was because of the pools.

SherbetDips · 14/05/2024 19:36

No that’s really gross. 🤮
