To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

I mean I’ve never had my baby fill a nappy with as much pee as a swim nappy comes out full off so I’d say definitely pool water.

The idea of a swim nappy is it doesn't absorb any type of water - wee or pool water. Otherwise they'd just go in and pretty soon have a massive heavy nappy on! Not sure what swim nappies you are using if they absorb water? And if they do there is no difference to a normal nappy.

Boomer55 · 14/05/2024 18:12

No, I haven’t. 😗

Oh you mean like a plastic type nappy?

Most swim nappies I’ve seen are basically normal nappies which pictures of fish on them 😂

caringcarer · 14/05/2024 18:13

No, I think you are in the dirty minority.

Terrribletwos · 14/05/2024 18:14

The Op didn't say she did it btw.

Yellowhammer09 · 14/05/2024 18:14

✅ Sea
❌ Pool

They need those indicator dyes that highlight when someone has urinated in the water 💡

Yup. I think that would stop the problem.

I was once told that that swimming pool chlorine smell is actually the chemicals reacting to the substances in the water and pretty much the stronger that smell the more the Pool has been peed in 😳🤢

I do t know if it’s true but it has really put me off and I used to love that smell!!

It's not just pee though, it's deodorant and shower gel etc from people that don't shower before they use the pool.

Miracleasap · 14/05/2024 18:15

@OhmygodDont you can't have seen an actual swim nappy. A swim nappy doesn't ballon up like a normal nappy does.

StedeBonnet · 14/05/2024 18:15

No!!!

OhmygodDont · 14/05/2024 18:15

When you think about it there’s lots of stuff in public pools.

poo particles
breast milk
wee
bits of sick
sweat
skin cells
sperm
vaginal discharge
hair
toe jam
spit
ear wax
snot
blood

I’m sure I’m missing some without stuff like sun cream, perfume, make up, medical lotions and potions.

Riversideandrelax · 14/05/2024 17:47

Eh? Why would you assume that?? And why would you do that?? Surely there are toilets available??

Nurses don't go to the toilet for 12 hours, doesn't mean we're weeing all over the wards!!

Why on earth don't nurses go to wee? I would have thought it impossible not to wee for 12 hours

We just used to buy swim nappies at the pool disposal swim nappies they where sold as 🤷🏻‍♀️ my youngest is 8 so it’s been a while.

ouch321 · 14/05/2024 18:17

Wtf are all these people who think the pool is gross but it's just fine to do it in the sea. You're just as bad.
And 'well, the fish do it!' does not make it justified.

The op said she doesn't do that.

Miracleasap · 14/05/2024 18:18

@OhmygodDont I've never seen swim nappies been sold by the pool on any of my holidays. Something essential as a swim nappy you would think you would take them from home?

HollaHolla · 14/05/2024 18:18

Sea wee = yes. Especially in a wetsuit; keeps you cozy.

Pool = ewww no. Don't assume people are peeing in the pool, just because they are in for a while. I have excellent bladder control!

Not plastic, no.

I mean maybe they've changed (my youngest is 12) but they were like a nappy material but without the absorbing parts. So they stay on properly as don't swell up and so can catch a poo.

You could also get washable neoprene ones.

weareallqueens · 14/05/2024 18:19

Really hoping I can wipe this from my mind before my holiday. Envy

Yes and again I could buy a whole pack in Tesco or Asda etc like £6 back then. But if we ran out buy extras at the pool.

PurplePansy05 · 14/05/2024 18:20

You're surrounded by urine from babies and toddlers in a pool, swim nappies don't hold it. Pretty sure many older kids pee in a pool too. That's enough, I don't pee in a pool myself!

Librarybooker · 14/05/2024 18:20

What click baity bot generated esque message 😂

I’d be prepared to believe that more people than really ought to wee in the sea, but isn’t that because the loos are miles away, if there are any. Plus they sometimes charge a fee to pee and people don’t have any change.

The pool is a whole other set up and perceptions and expectations completely different

ValueAddedTaxonomy · 14/05/2024 18:21

You're making me think of that Churchill speech, @OhmygodDont:

"I have nothing to offer except blood, sweat, tears, poo particles, breast milk, wee, bits of sick, skin cells, sperm, vaginal discharge, ..."

Perhaps he moonlighted as a holiday rep.

We don't have time! We have iron clad bladders! 😂 (I do sometimes get to wee, just not every shift!)

TM1979 · 14/05/2024 18:21

Good god. Is this for real?
