To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

I have peed in the sea 🫣
But no, not in the pool, I prefer not to think about it as i inevitably end up ingesting pool water 😂
Dh and I went on holiday and there was a swim up bar, we and the couple we were chatting to one afternoon were constantly in and out like ping pong balls backwards and forward to the loo, once you start…
I would imagine people do it though.

hockityponktas · 14/05/2024 17:42

Absolutely not in a pool! That’s really grim. Always do in the sea though🙈

LoobyDop · 14/05/2024 17:44

That is disgusting and the reason I don’t use hotel pools.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 14/05/2024 17:45

Absolutely not.
I do not pee in any public pool.
Anyone who does is vile and selfish.

Isitisit · 14/05/2024 17:45

I’m another one who avoids swim up bars after seeing so many people drinking all day yet never seemingly needing the loo!

OneTC · 14/05/2024 17:46

And there's another good reason to never go anywhere with a swim up bar. I didn't think I could have felt further discouraged but there you go

Riversideandrelax · 14/05/2024 17:47

Eh? Why would you assume that?? And why would you do that?? Surely there are toilets available??

Nurses don't go to the toilet for 12 hours, doesn't mean we're weeing all over the wards!!

Quiteavibe · 14/05/2024 17:47

No!

Urine is sterile

I remember an MN thread years ago when a women said she had let her child piss in the baby-and-toddler-group venue's kitchen sink where the kids snacks were being prepared. She was very keen on the "urine is sterile!!" claim.

I don't think it is true, or if it is true, it relates only to the freshly emerged substance, not to its lingering presence out in the world.

I believe urine is sterile until it exits the body. What an idiotic, strange individual!!!

TulipCat · 14/05/2024 17:48

This is one of the reasons I prefer private villas to resort hotels. Grim.

Delatron · 14/05/2024 17:48

Oh god this is why I hate swimming pools. Give me a lake or the sea any day. Human soup with piss and skin and plasters. Just awful.

KateMiskin · 14/05/2024 17:48

No, I never have since I became an adult.

Caffeineislife · 14/05/2024 17:48

Absolutely not. Every hotel I have stayed in have poolside toilets. Luckily it seems most people use the poolside toilets.

It's utterly grim to be weeing in a hotel pool as a continent adult. The only people it is acceptable for weeing in the pool are very small children and babies (who generally wear swim nappies) and incontinent disabled people (who again usually have some kind of incontinence swimwear). Normal continent people need to be getting out and using the poolside toilets. Children may have the odd accident but most of them are very good at going to the toilet.

The sea is a different kettle of fish entirely. Again, if there are nearby toilets I use those over weeing in the sea.

I don't and DC don't either. I would think that most adults and children over a certain age wouldn't. Small children often wear swim diapers anyway.

I mean they hold in poops not wees..

Blondiebeachbabe · 14/05/2024 17:49

Lol, I didn't say that I did it! We don't really stay in the pool very long, but you can see from your sunbed that some people don't leave the pool for hours. Made me wonder if they were peeing in the pool, considering the amount of fluid they were consuming. But maybe not, given the answers on this thread. That's good.

wishIwasonholiday10 · 14/05/2024 17:50

I don’t but if there are babies and non-toilet trained toddlers there will be pee in the pool. Swim nappies don’t contain pee and will only contain poo long enough to get the baby out of the pool (how long might depend on how solid the poo is - I don’t imagine they contain baby poo for very long).

Moveoverdarlin · 14/05/2024 17:50

FFS! No I don’t.

stayathomer · 14/05/2024 17:51

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh god no, tell me this isn’t a thing!!!!

The thing is, though, you are unlikely to get many people coming on and saying they do. There is a massive bias on these types of thread!

You do realise swim nappies don't catch wee, though!

Caffeineislife · 14/05/2024 17:52

Maybe we need some kind of urine sensitive dye added to swimming pool water so that those who wee in the pool are surrounded by a big green or purple cloud to shame them into using the toilets.

ToxicChristmas · 14/05/2024 17:52

I would actually really struggle to let go and, well, go. Is anyone else like that? Some sort of weird performance anxiety maybe? I remember as a teen not being able to wee in the sea and having to trudge to the local McDonald's to use the loo.

Saschka · 14/05/2024 17:57

Floralnomad · 14/05/2024 17:22

Normal , toilet trained adults do not pee in swimming pools

Normal toilet trained children don’t either! Who wants to swim in a pool full of wee? Envy

I'm a nurse and it's not true that they don't go to the toilet for over 12 hours. Fed up of nurses saying they don't. A wee takes 2 minutes, any nurse can make time for that.

You're hopefully not skulling pints whilst doing your shift.

There's alcohol involved of course a chunk of people will not behave themselves
