Can't help thinking King Charles is selfish

1000 replies

Eieiom · 09/05/2024 11:12

Standing back, looking at the Harry situation, I can't help thinking that Charles is the root of all the family toxicity.

He had an affair while married to Diana, which led to their divorce and much unhappiness on her side. After her early death, his children were obviously in a lot of pain. The remote parenting style of the RF probably did little to soften this.
He's managed to marry his affair partner and now he's cutting off one of his sons.
Harry just looks like a really hurt person acting out to me. In most families, they would just be tolerated and forgiven.
I think the RF look very cold.

'No hate campaign against Meghan....'
Have you ever looked in a Uk tabloid?!
https://www.boredpanda.com/uk-media-double-standarts-royal-meghan-markle-kate-middleton/

That's called being selective.
Two pictures with a biased comment proves absolutely nothing.

Ah one example there's probably plenty more where they're slagging Kate off for something they've bigged someone else up for. The media is a very fickle thing.

H&M could have had the media eating out of their hand but they decided to upset HMTQ with whines and demands, it all got out and so they flounced to set up as faux royals USA.. H should've met his dfil well before his gushing engagement interview, they should've listened to advice and not being so petulant. It is all his own doing.

There's lots of examples in the article.
I'm less interested in gossip as you appear to be- I'm more interested in their parasitic relationship with the UK taxpayer ie why do. our taxes pay for one lazy and rather unpleasant family to live in complete luxury not even working.

Oh it's from Bored Panda! I thought maybe BuzzFeed. I knew it was something with just bitesized snippets.
No in depth reporting there, @pleasehelpwi3 !

No need for in depth reporting, just compare the headlines!

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 19:09

My favorite anti Meghan headline is the one they suggested she was trying to poison Charlotte with her wedding bouquet!!!!🤣

No, I don't just look at headlines. I like to read the article. So many negative headlines about Charles, Camilla, William and Kate, then I read the article and find that the details are lacking, and they contain no substantive evidence.
That's just like a social media meme, isn't it?
I don't think I'd rely on "Bored Panda" as a news outlet, thank you.

Was that your favourite? Not as entertaining as the recent jam ones, although possibly funnier!

anon666 · 10/05/2024 19:13

No. He might be selfish and I kind of agree about the affair partner.

But Harry and Meghan have been outrageously disloyal. No-one could work around that.

Nickyknakynoo · 10/05/2024 19:20

Forced to marry a virgin etc etc .......
That may be true but thereafter he could have chosen to act with compassion and integrity. Diana was the only one who didn't know what was going on ....add to that , she was barely 19 ! C was a mature man having grown up amongst the rules of 'the firm'
Diana was supposed to have been told by the Queen Morher to expect a Prince of Wales to have a mistress , it was just something that always happened and I firmly believe C was told this before he married.

He may have been doing his 'duty' or however they convince themselves that behaviour like this is OK but again, Diana was a teenager and she knew nothing.
Absolutely horrible with no justification then or now.
I am totally sick of them all , they should go !!!!

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 19:27

Diana was 19 when engaged, 20 when married.

@Runnerinthenight You know what I said.
Someone else posted negative things about Camilla. I said I could believe it because Camilla is friends with Jeremy Clarkson.
I do not think anyone who is nice would be friends with him.

There’s literally no evidence she is friends with him

YaMuvva · 10/05/2024 19:34

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 14:50

@Runnerinthenight

@derxa "I love Jeremy Clarkson"

Unless @derxa is Camilla - so what

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 14:51

There are people on here who defend the Royals no matter what, I have even seen people defending Prince Andrew.

No you don’t

On that thread someone corrected you that Andrew is not in fact a pedophile. There is k evidence he is but he almost certainly had sex with trafficked of-age girls. But that’s not the same as pedophilia

Thats not defending him that’s just making a correction

YaMuvva · 10/05/2024 19:38

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 14:57

@CurlewKate The press report all the work Camilla does with VAWG. It is not at all hidden.
It is not effective either, simply photo opportunities. And yes I know people who have been to her events. They said it was fun, and they got a chance to chat to others in the sector ( they all already know each other), but it didn't achieve anything.

Oh FGS.
Youre being silly now

Imagine claiming awareness raising achieves nothing

About something as crucial as VAWG.
I despair.
People may not like Camilla, but slagging that really is the pits.

CantFindMyMarbles · 10/05/2024 19:47

I find it so weird that people think they can actually make any a judgement. You’ve no idea what happens behind closed doors. None.

OhcantthInkofaname · 10/05/2024 19:56

Look at the way Charles mother treated him. She was cold and indifferent. He should have been king 19 years ago. Charles is just carrying on the pattern.

The UK tabloids started raising racist commentary and the situation with Meghan's dad. The RF could have exerted some pressure.

No.
It's not the role of the Head of State or his family to interfere with a free press.

BIossomtoes · 10/05/2024 20:11

19 years is a weirdly specific number. In fact saying someone should have been dead for 19 years is an odd concept.

Yes indeed. Most peculiar.

Monzoqquery · 10/05/2024 20:12

Charles who did his own book on his parents and called his dad to account director gordunstsn publicly (but as future king he could)
Charles who conducted public widely broadcast interviews about the most intimate family life whilst his young sons where at boarding school?

Yes he's a selfish naval gazing man. I still like him but as a dad... Nil point.

Here's a much more detailed article from the Guardian with some analysis about the press treatment of Meghan and Kate for you.

https://www.theguardian.com/global/2020/jan/18/meghan-gets-more-than-twice-as-many-negative-headlines-as-positive

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 20:33

No thanks.
I don't think that the Guardian is a reliable source either. They have a very strong editorial bias, and their writers are no longer of a high calibre. Shame. It used to be a decent paper.
They've fallen into the trap of thinking that by supporting H&M they're being republican - they're not. They're just supporting a worse form of royalty. Not very well argued at all, and somewhat naive
Plus - they need to improve proof reading!

MyNameIsFine · 10/05/2024 16:18

Yes, it was a joke. He was referring to the scene in Game of Thrones in an ironic/hyperbolic way. Maybe not everyone's sense of humour, but ...

I confess I only read the report on it but didn’t he lose his job after that?
