Can't help thinking King Charles is selfish

1000 replies

Eieiom · 09/05/2024 11:12

Standing back, looking at the Harry situation, I can't help thinking that Charles is the root of all the family toxicity.

He had an affair while married to Diana, which led to their divorce and much unhappiness on her side. After her early death, his children were obviously in a lot of pain. The remote parenting style of the RF probably did little to soften this.
He's managed to marry his affair partner and now he's cutting off one of his sons.
Harry just looks like a really hurt person acting out to me. In most families, they would just be tolerated and forgiven.
I think the RF look very cold.

Fair enough @derxa. Anyone can say anything they like about anyone. And the person talked about should just laugh. Renders all these RF threads a bit redundant......

And it was not hundreds at the lunch. It was a small private event.

I said dozens not hundreds.

And it was a private event but more than the 3 of them were there.

Also was Camilla supposed to be psychic and know Clarkson would print that column? Why shouldn’t she go to luncheon events? Why should she sit at home like a good girl when Meghan and Harry have trashed her and lied about her

YaMuvva · 10/05/2024 16:14

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 14:25

@Runnerinthenight There were no follow up articles saying Jeremy Clarkson was lying. He explained in some detail how he met Camilla and what they had in common.

I’ve met a lot of people I have things on common with.

Doesn’t mean I’m their friend

derxa · 10/05/2024 14:29

You may well be right but it was based on Game of Thrones which I think is vile and misogynistic. I try to put myself in Meghan's position. If Clarkson had written that article about me I would just have shrugged it off. I wouldn't be weeping and wailing on the floor.

There was some uproar on MN at the time because the Palace didn’t realise a statement calling Clarkson a meanie.

It was ridiculous - not sure why the two “We’re so independent, we’re leaving!” Need mummy and daddy to go tell the teacher on the naughty boy.

Yes, it was a joke. He was referring to the scene in Game of Thrones in an ironic/hyperbolic way. Maybe not everyone's sense of humour, but ...

I know. It's so tedious.
Funny how they never call out the offensive stuff said about Charles, Camilla, William and Kate. Especially from Scobie.

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 14:57

@CurlewKate The press report all the work Camilla does with VAWG. It is not at all hidden.
It is not effective either, simply photo opportunities. And yes I know people who have been to her events. They said it was fun, and they got a chance to chat to others in the sector ( they all already know each other), but it didn't achieve anything.

OMG do you have to diss everything the woman says or does? It's deeply mean-spirited and doesn't show you in a very good light.

Were there any "follow up articles" to say he was telling the truth? Or that they even met more than once?

I think the word "friend" is greatly over-stated. If everyone alleged to be a "friend" of the royals actually was, I don't know where they would have time for them all!

Especially good work like VAGW - you'd think women would support that.

Runnerinthenight · 10/05/2024 16:43

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 14:51

There are people on here who defend the Royals no matter what, I have even seen people defending Prince Andrew.

You have not seen people defending Prince Andrew. You've seen people who actually prefer to stick to facts.

All Google can throw up is that they had a sneaky fag together

Both Clarkson & Camilla have got hideous gargoyle-heads …. That’s enough for me.

SluggyMuggy · 10/05/2024 15:18

@CurlewKate They would have been phoning the police.
I have seen mild criticisms of Catherine on here described by these individuals as vile personal attacks.

Usually because that is in fact what they are.

Horrible comment - I bet you're no outstanding beauty.

Hairychops77892 · 10/05/2024 16:48

Wow I have just returned to this thread after an afternoon out and the misogyny is wholly objectionable.

Also, very enlightening in confirming the actual views held by certain well known posters and supporters of the RF.

I’m shocked that some are so welded to their defence of King and Country and their hatred of Meghan that they are actually willing to defend Jeremy Clarkson’s vile rant against her? What mental gymnastics does that take fhs? Do you think the late Queen would have approved of what he said for that matter?

It wasn’t just some minor error, it was a vile misogynistic comment inciting violence against women that attracted 25,000 complaints from the general public. Yes he had tried to cloth in GOT humour but he judged it so terribly badly and caused such offence that the article was withdrawn and he had to make a public apology.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) concluded that, taken collectively, these references discriminated against Meghan as a woman and breached anti-discrimination rules.

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:49

@Runnerinthenight
Good. I'm glad vile personal attacks are called out. Now. About that Jeremy Clarkson attack......

I think the majority of us have agreed that it was horrible and utterly unacceptable.

Next?

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:52

Oh, don't be silly, @Hairychops77892, it was a joke! Stop being a fun-sponge-just laugh it off. It's not meant literally!

Why can't you people call out vile attacks on both sides here? Why are you so hell-bent on running the RF down to support H&M? There are some very bitter, narrow-minded, twisted people in this world.

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:53

@Runnerinthenight Really? People are, as far as I can see, calling it a joke.

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:55

@Runnerinthenight I want all personal attacks to be called out. Strangely, the Clarkson one isn't being.

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:56

Incidentally, @Runnerinthenight, I don't have a side. I think they are all expensive, self obsessed and ridiculous and the sooner they all disappear the better.

Runnerinthenight · 10/05/2024 16:57

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 16:53

@Runnerinthenight Really? People are, as far as I can see, calling it a joke.

Did you see me calling it a joke? Do you see the majority of fair-minded posters calling it a joke? Because I don't! Address your comments to the posters you have an issue with and stop tarring us all with the same brush.

I used to really like Harry - I've even shaken hands with him on one occasion - but I really dislike his behaviour since he met Meghan and I don't understand why people are defending all the horrible things the two of them have said and done.

The RF isn't perfect, nobody is - but all I see is people trying to do what they see as their duty. The sheer hatred and vilification of them is so very ugly.

No, affairs/divorce/unhappiness etc happens in many families, and while it's sad, it doesn't give other family members licence to discuss the intimate details in public in order to make money from it. Harry's a whinging twat and it's no wonder the rest of his family don't want to see him. You wouldn't be able to say anything for fear of it being broadcast (in return for payment). He's burned his bridges.

YaMuvva · 09/05/2024 21:34

Given that Charles, William, Harry and all their 5 children aren’t going to be in the same postcode any time soon let alone the same car I find that very hard to believe

A nutter kills Harry and family which given some of the content on the Express/Mail/internet in general comments sections isn't entirely unbelievable combined with a bomb at some ceremony that Andrew hasn't been allowed to attend because he's a taxpayer funded sleaze.... although unlikely it's not entirely impossible.

(And by car bomb it means a bomb left in a car to explode and injure others, not so much a bomb in a car that people are travelling in.)
