There's a CF parked in my drive

Village fete day. Parking's a nightmare. Come back from my food shop to find some CF has parked on my drive. So I parked across my drive (dropped kerb but no double yellows or white driveway signs) to put my shopping away. Nearest proper parking is going to be a 5-10 min walk away I reckon - it's heaving! No specific AIBU but I know you lot love a parking drama.
Can I leave my car infront of the driveway and head out to the fete? It would block the car in ... but there's no note, no blue badge etc ... can I get a parking fine?
My DH thinks we should park properly and walk back in but tbh im enraged someone parked on my drive!!!

Good for you op that is ridiculous for someone to do

NOTANUM · 05/05/2024 17:52

I find these threads extraordinary! Who does such a thing!
(I’m clearly place marking for the next instalment)

LakeTiticaca · 05/05/2024 17:53

I'm desperate for OP to come home!! Must be a long fete 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In both cases it's entering someone's private property without permission. So hardly a 'bizarre' comparison. I assume you must be someone who parks at will on other people's driveways?

Don't be so bloody stupid. Burglary is nothing like abandoning your car on someone else's drive. I think any one who's come home to find their house burgled would be disgusted by your comparison

And your comment just gets more ridiculous accusing me of being someone who parks on someone's drive

Too much wine today? Or are you always this ridiculous

StoneHenge85 · 05/05/2024 17:54

Well. Against the grain here and probably too late anyway but I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and park close by. It could be friends or family finding you not in have parked up and gone to look for you at the fair? As mentioned before that perhaps someone who knows you have said it wouldn’t be an issue etc etc. if your not careful you could end up with egg on face 😄!

SpiltCoffee · 05/05/2024 17:54

Blatant placemark

She's drunk and sleeping it off in the hedge 😆

WingsofRain · 05/05/2024 17:55

Many years ago a family parked in my driveway, got out a picnic and sat there eating. It wasn’t a big driveway either, just a normal one a bit more than the length of a car.

When I went out and asked what they were doing they said they had brought the kids to look at my dogs who were out in the garden.

I should have charged them a zoo entry fee!

Im looking forward to the next update on this exciting standoff. 😊

Scottishskifun · 05/05/2024 17:55

What is it about fetes which brings these people out?!

Enjoy the warm wine OP!

KnitnNatterAuntie · 05/05/2024 17:33

Yes, it's a fete accompli . . . .

Well done 🥂

summerhouseathetop · 05/05/2024 17:57

I think OP is currently at the fete enjoying herself..I will be interested to see how this pans out.

Nothing surprises me nowadays with how cheeky people can be.

A year ago I had an elderly lady park her car right across our drive, meaning I wouldn't have been able to get out of my drive. (She happened to be visiting her son 6 doors up, who happened to have loads of room outside his house). I went out and asked her why she had parked there, blocking my driveway so I couldn't leave my drive. Her answer was "people block my driveway all the time where I live". 😦

I explained that it was the wrong thing to do, that it didn't make it right. She moved in the end....

The penguin bollard thread for your amusement while we wait for the return of the op.

My God... that is over 10 years old and I can remember it like yesterday.

CoolShoeshine · 05/05/2024 17:57

Hanging on for an update op!! 👋

LightsCameraBitchSmile · 05/05/2024 17:57

Would infuriate me. You’ve definitely done the right thing!

Not as desperate as the CF will be. I do hope there's a live band tonight and OP stays out dancing, it would be rude not to.

rainydogday · 05/05/2024 18:00

Oh waiting for an update! Grin

I thought the same thing. Who actually parks on the private drive of some random house? I'd put money on teen friend or Aunt Bertha calling for a visit.

You’d be surprised. My parents live nearby a local attraction, several years ago they caved in and put a lockable gate on their drive, due to the sheer amount of CFs who parked on their drive over the years.

Yes, totally agree. I live about a mile away from a football stadium and it's amazing where supporters dump their cars . . . .

NearlyHeadlessNick · 05/05/2024 18:02

So invested...

Brats4kid · 05/05/2024 18:03

Oo, I'm invested! I need an update! 🤣

lucylulululu · 05/05/2024 18:05
