There's a CF parked in my drive

Village fete day. Parking's a nightmare. Come back from my food shop to find some CF has parked on my drive. So I parked across my drive (dropped kerb but no double yellows or white driveway signs) to put my shopping away. Nearest proper parking is going to be a 5-10 min walk away I reckon - it's heaving! No specific AIBU but I know you lot love a parking drama.
Can I leave my car infront of the driveway and head out to the fete? It would block the car in ... but there's no note, no blue badge etc ... can I get a parking fine?
My DH thinks we should park properly and walk back in but tbh im enraged someone parked on my drive!!!

Is there anywhere you could buy a quick fit penguin bollard?

Bournetilly · 05/05/2024 16:51

So glad you kept your car there! Update is if you find out who it is.

KnitnNatterAuntie · 05/05/2024 16:56

OP . . . I don't think you've activated voting for AIBU. Such a shame as I think you would have been one of the very rare posters who would have achieved 100% support . . . .

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 05/05/2024 16:58

My blood is boiling for you, must remember it’s not my drive 🤣😂

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 05/05/2024 16:58

Legally you can park across a drive. I think you can also park on someone else’s drive, however batshit that is. However, you can’t block someone in, but if that stands when it’s you blocking your own drive I have no idea!
I’d leave my number on their windscreen and wait for the call, even if I didn’t go out, and look forward to giving them merry hell 😆

Loafbeginsat60 · 05/05/2024 16:59

Looking forward to the update!

TartanCulshie · 05/05/2024 17:00

I don't understand why they CFs didn't just park in front of the dropped kerb and leave the driveway blocked empty.

From reading the thread, there's nothing legally wrong with that. Morally bad, but legally OK (or so it would seem).

They must think they are allowed. Surely.

Trulyme · 05/05/2024 17:00

Please leave your car there for as long as you possibly can and don’t go home.

If DD is home and they knock on the door then tell her to act dumb about who’s car is blocking them in.

This would make me so angry!

One of you could go home and have it out with CF and play dumb about your car and the other one should stay out as long as you possibly can so they have to wait around until you return.

Rtc12 · 05/05/2024 17:00

Ooh I love this well done!

Ooo I think we had a similar one of these a while ago. OP deliberately had a drink so they couldn't move their car.

This is becoming an annual post now, when summer gets going there will be more.
So many people are CF these days.

servedstraight · 05/05/2024 17:04

Good for you leaving your car parked.

Yeah OP, waste money and time trying to install it just so you can make someone on Mumsnet happy.

It always amazes me how some people on MN come up with the most insane ideas on every thread. Ideas they surely wouldn't follow if they were the OP

Yes I remember the exact same scenario from maybe last summer or the summer before. In that one I think it was either a friend or a friend of a friend. Suspect it’s probably the same again!

Nothing useful to say. I’m only commenting because I don’t know how to watch a thread without commenting first and I’m intrigued to know how this turns out.

You go to the top of the thread and click the large purple button that reads 'watch thread'.

Snazzysausage · 05/05/2024 17:06

Ooh, what a bank holiday weekend treat,a CF parking thread! I was only wistfully thinking back yesterday to the days when we used to get 1 or 2 a week. Hope the OP has drunk just enough of the warm wine to not be able to drive til tomorrow (or Tuesday)

surreygirl1987 · 05/05/2024 17:07

Fully invested in this. We'll done OP.

Runningonjammiedodgers · 05/05/2024 17:09

Marking my spot for an update

StuntNun · 05/05/2024 17:09

Wow that is the cheekiest of CFs!

Badgerandfox227 · 05/05/2024 17:09

I can’t believe that people actually do this in real life and just park on someone else’s drive!

The post was harking back to a very famous and long running parking thread where the OP was on the Isle of Wight. I think she installed penguin bollards. It was very funny.

[God I've been on MN for a long time].

Yes, leave the number for London Zoo and tell them they need to speak to C Lyons. Or G Raaf. Or maybe Anne Tilope.

Love your style 🤣🤣🤣

Haha. I need to open my eyes a bit wider. Thank you.

Oh that thread was wonderful. Although I did get haunted by penguin bollard adverts for a while.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/05/2024 17:20

Another one shamelessly posting for the outsome Grin

I live on a tiny avenue, just off the main drag for the local school which is always manic, and have a drive which takes 3 cars and is completely open to the avenue.
I've always been amazed nobody's yet found it and decided to park but am sure it's only a matter of time - in which case I'll have my very own parking thread!!
