To think this dress isn’t too sexy to wear to a wedding?

SIL wedding in October, attending as a guest. Is this dress too sexy? Too bridesmaid-y?

I always go for bodycon dresses as that’s what I feel most comfortable in, I am size 10/12 and an hourglass body shape so not sure what else would suit my body type really, I find a lot of other dresses make me look huge/frumpy.

It's a lovely dress but I would tone it down for the day with a wrap or jacket.

Bluevelvetsofa · 20/04/2024 20:51

You can’t rely on the weather in October being warm enough for a sleeveless dress, so you’d need something to go over it, which loses the point of the dress really.

BakedTattie · 20/04/2024 20:52

Don’t be daft - it’s perfectly acceptable as a wedding guest dress

Ginspirational · 20/04/2024 20:52

Yes @Bluevelvetsofa I did think that. Maybe a long sleeved version of the dress would be a good middle ground.

It’s gorgeous. You’ll be wearing a jacket over in October I presume.

Comedycook · 20/04/2024 20:54

It's fine. A bit clubby perhaps but will be fine, just choose your accessories wisely

Ginspirational · 20/04/2024 20:57

@HateMyRubbishBoss ooooh yes I love that!

It's lovely, it's not to short or 'booby'.
If its in a church you will need a jacket over the top to be respectful, but can then remove for evening dancing

Elley123 · 20/04/2024 20:59

I have the same bolero in black and it runs true to size. I've found it a very versatile piece that I've used loads.

Moreorlessmentallystable · 20/04/2024 21:04

I would wear that. Love the colour too.

Tukto · 20/04/2024 21:11

It's a lovely dress but not really for a wedding. Maybe for the evening do?

PoochiesPinkEars · 20/04/2024 21:12

It's gorgeous and perfectly fine for a wedding!

IvorTheEngineDriver · 20/04/2024 21:13

Stunning. Wear it. Needs something around the neck though.

catonmyback · 20/04/2024 21:13

It's lovely. What colour are the BMs?

Please! Dont wear a bolero!!! Get a lovely blazer

patchworkpal · 20/04/2024 21:15

I'm sorry but that would be so out of place at any wedding I've been to.

Ginspirational · 20/04/2024 21:24

These are dresses I’ve worn to weddings previously (years ago so a bit out of style now!), so I don’t think the one at the top is too much of a stretch from those, and I never felt out of place in those.

A blazer could actually look gorgeous over it! BM will be wearing burgundy 😊

If I had your figure,I would definitely wear it.

Ginspirational · 20/04/2024 21:27

I would also add that I usually wouldn’t give it this much thought, but it’s my first ‘event’ since having DD, and so having a bit of a ‘who even am I now?’ moment 😂

Nothing to say except you have an absolutely stunning figure!! I'm very jealous 😉

Ginspirational · 20/04/2024 21:31

Ahh thanks ladies - that was a pre-DD body so slightly softer round the edges now, but still there or thereabouts 😂

I think you would look fantastic in it (you look absolutely stunning in that green dress!) but I think it’s a bit sexy for a wedding, personally. It probably wouldn’t be if you wore something over the top, but then it would sort of defeat the point of wearing the dress, if you see what I mean?

Where are the getting married?

bradpittsbathwater · 20/04/2024 21:37

You have a lovely figure. That dress will look great. It's perfect for a wedding.

ItsMintUpNorth · 20/04/2024 21:37

It's lovely and fine for a wedding imo! Agree with PP's you will need a jacket for an October wedding but it's absolutely fine without one once you are dancing away Grin

The one at the top is definitely more look at me than the first one. It is going to show off anything that isn't a smooth shape. Which is fine if you're fine with that. I suggest a good supportive bra as I find those sort of tops act a little like strapless ones and can push boobs down.
