For voting Tory

I know what the Tories are and no, I don't like it. But I'm a woman, I have daughters and I come from generations of women who've been abused and dismissed because of their sex. I want better for my girls but I can't do it on my own. I need a government who will (at least give lip service to) supporting me. Am I a Tory? no. But the last thing women need is to be fighting their own government for basic recognition, so Tory it is.

Please demonstrate which amendments the LP has committed to which will ensure that legal women (with a GRC) won't have access to women's spaces.

We need to recognise that sex and gender are different – as the Equality Act does. We will make sure that nothing in our modernised gender recognition process would override the single-sex exemptions in the Equality Act. Put simply, this means that there will always be places where it is reasonable for biological women only to have access. Labour will defend those spaces, providing legal clarity for the providers of single-sex services.

These policies will not please everyone. They will be attacked from all sides, in good faith and bad. But responsible politics is not about doing what is easy, it’s about doing what is right.

Annelise Dodds.

Have you even read that quotation? It claims that the Equality Act protects women's single sex spaces and exemptions.

Say what.

We don't even have single sex rape crisis any more because men have fought their way to the top. A trans woman without a GRC successfully holds a post reserved for women and has told women that we need to 'reframe our trauma' if we don't want men involved in our rape crisis care.

Dodds hasn't got a clue what she's talking about.

Nor have you.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/04/2024 22:46

lifeturnsonadime · 17/04/2024 22:37

I know what the Tories won't and will do .

I am asking for more from Labour if they are to earn my vote.

I think I vote differently from you. Parties have to earn my vote. The Labour Party made it clear they don't want mine because I think that women exist independently of men. As they haven't retracted that position why should I vote for them?

Why do you insist on accusing critics of the Tory government of being TRAs, mens rights activist apologists and wanting men in women's single sex spaces and throwing women and children under the bus?

It's not a "belief" it's a legal fact. I can't do anything about that. Until the GRA is repealed, that's how it is.

Denying facts doesn't make you a better "women's rights advocate" than me.

I agree re: it all being there for people to see.

Rwanda being a safe country to deport refugees to is likely to become a legal fact. The state of Indiana voted to make pi = 3.2 a legal fact.
"Legal facts" are sometimes bullshit.

Anyone who is putting the rights of men to be in women's single sex spaces above the needs of women, in spite of all of the evidence of the harms to women, is in my mind, an activist at this point. This includes those who use it as political capital.

If you really were an advocat for women's rights you would say enough's enough. How many women need to be harmed?

BIossomtoes · 17/04/2024 22:48

Christ, you’re rude. Seriously rude.

Why because I believe that women should have single sex rape care?

I think Dodds is ignorant and rude about women's needs.

And I think you are also prepared to throw women under the bus.

If you find that rude that's on you. I think it's the truth.

BIossomtoes · 17/04/2024 22:48

I mean how dare a woman stand up for the right of women to have single sex rape crisis support?

How rude?

Won't we think of the men?

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/04/2024 22:56

lifeturnsonadime · 17/04/2024 11:00

So women's rights are a price YOU are prepared to pay.

Cool.

But don't castigate other women for having valid concerns.

This is what you wrote in response to one of my posts @lifeturnsonadime. I advocate for women and children. I say enough is enough. You accused me of this nonsense.^^

Why?

I don't know what kind of advocacy you do for women and children because i don't know you off of these threads.

I do know that you have told women that we should vote to ensure the Tories are out (or words to that effect) and have at least implied that we should ignore the harms of Labour who are the party most likely to get in in the next general election because the Tories should be ousted at all costs.

What I am trying to explain in this thread is at this point this comes across as activism. What you are saying to women is that we should ignore things that harm us or our children because getting the Tories out should come at all costs.

I don't agree. I am very concerned that women's rights and the rights of children should be an acceptable price to pay to oust the Tories.

Instead I'm asking for voters to advocate for our rights to local candidates who appear to be claiming that women do not care about these issues.

That wasn't a response to anything you have posted.

Men with a GRC who say they are women are still men.

They are getting positions of power in rape crisis for fucks sake.

We have women who have been raped in the UK with nowhere to go because they can't 'reframe their trauma'.

If you can't see the problem here I really cant help you.

AhNowTed · 17/04/2024 23:04

I'm frankly aghast at the number of women here that would vote Tory on a single issue.

The Tories couldn't give a fig about women. Not a jot.

Yes, they have said women are women. Great. Solidarity.

Name me one policy in 14 years that has backed that up.

Name me one policy in 14 years that has helped women's cause.

Name me any bleeding policy that has helped women and children in the last 14 years of this government.

It's just words. Empty words. Easy words, backed up by sweet fuck all.

Mhridul Whadwa is a male who managed to get a job reserved for women without a GRC.

So we have a legal male who heads off a rape crisis centre telling women to reframe their trauma.

No issue, right?

I'm sure the millions of women who've been pushed into poverty by austerity, who've seen Sure Start centres scrapped, who've had to wait years for justice because of cuts to the legal system, who can't get decent maternity or gynaecological care thanks to cuts to the NHS, who have seen no progress to fix the pay gap or to tackle punitive zero hours contracts (which disproportionately affect women), who have been crippled by care responsibilities while being paid a pittance, and who've once again seen a budget designed to help men rather than women will be overjoyed.

Yes deliberately. Do you have anything substantive to say about the failures of political parties to protect women and children or do you prefer scolding women who point it out?

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 17/04/2024 23:12

Scolding? 😂

We need to get rid of the Tories because of the harm they have done and continue to do to women and children. Me saying that doesn't make me a TRA or MRA. It doesn't mean I want men in women's spaces. It means that I want rid of the Tories. The party that put men into women's spaces. The party that have destroyed women's rights and circumstances for the past 14 years.

I say the Tories need to go because they hate women and are damaging to us and our children. Why do you smear Tory critics and make up shit, rather than addressing their actual posts@lifeturnsonadime?

I think you are misunderstanding me and / or are deliberately missing the point?

Why are women's rights to be a sex class a price worth paying?

Why shouldn't we be able to put the opposition to task on this?

I have to agree with this post, it's just empty words as they think they can get more votes by pretending to give a toss about this issue.
Their track record on what they have already done or not done in the past 14 years they've been in power says everything.
It's time for change, not more of the same.
