Aim for fortnightly, but monthly in reality! There really is more to life...

It only takes me 5 mins max to change each bed, not really taking up much time in my week.

Fortnightly in the winter. Our bedsheets and blankets take up at least 4 loads of washing each time. Husband insists on 2 blankets in the winter (still using them now!). In the summer months I try and change the bedsheets weekly as fewer washing machine loads.

Etoile41 · 14/04/2024 11:20

Every other week. Shower before bed and in the morning do get into bed all nice and clean

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 14/04/2024 11:30

Once a fortnight in winter and when the line drying weather starts probably weeklyish. Also varies depending how busy we are

MyWhoHa · 14/04/2024 11:35

Weekly for sheets, duvet cover, pillowcases. I always turn the duvet back open the windows and let the bed air our for a couple of hours before making it. I wash pillow and mattress protectors when I remember to.

SaltyGod · 14/04/2024 11:35

Fortnightly in winter, roughly weekly in summer but influenced by good weather / drying days as we try not to use the tumble drier.

Our towel and hand towel situation might be giving some posters nightmares 🤣

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 14/04/2024 11:42

When I remember every few weeks. Sometimes longer.

If I'm honest me too

Wonkypictureframe · 14/04/2024 11:51

Why should I wash towels after a tradesperson or neighbour has used them? I don’t understand. I’d wash a towel if it had got, say, lots of dirt on it, but not on principle just because a non-family member had used it.

EBearhug · 14/04/2024 12:17

Fortnightly unless I have a floody period. Woukd probably do it if i was ill, but to date, I'm rarely ill. Occasionally go to 3 weeks. I do love clean sheets, though.

I live alone (and no pets), which is also why I don't worry about tradespeople using my towels - I usually have a clear idea of exactly who and how often my towels have been used. So the towel in the guest loo won't get washed so often, because it might have only been used twice in a month.

Pantaloons99 · 14/04/2024 12:19

I do them about every 3 to 4 weeks. I'm a bit surprised that I'm clearly a grotter compared to most here 😆

Pickled21 · 14/04/2024 12:45

I change them once a fortnight in the winter and once a week in the spring or Summer. I don't care what other people do as I don't stay in other people's homes apart from my mum's. My mum does hers once a week and I strip the bed once I leave hers. I wash towels in general once a week but hand towels get changed over at least twice a week.

You should read OP's other thread where she says she does 25 loads of washing a week, including towels after 1wash, and every item of clothing after 1 wear...

She also has a thread asking how frequently people have a bath/shower.

I can't think why she is so interested in how often other people shower/bathe/change their sheets/wash their clothes/run their washing machine.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/04/2024 12:53

Big towels get washed weekly, hand towels a couple of times a week.

Bedding fortnightly (but it's only me in it!)

Clothes do tend to get washed after every use but again it's only me and dd so that's manageable.

Everything gets washed on an eco 30 degree wash though as can't afford the electricity!

Everything looks/smells fresh and we're not dead yet so 🤷‍♀️

coastalhawk · 14/04/2024 12:53

Every two weeks or less

I am interested as I had a another thread where poster after poster (vipers) told me how unreasonable I was to shower daily, washing bed more than fornightly.

I was out with friends for dinner last night and I asked in conversation and everyone showers daily and washes their bedding weekly, so I was questioning the response on my first post.

You do know that people can ask for opinions on MN.

"I was out with friends for dinner last night and I asked in conversation and everyone showers daily and washes their bedding weekly, so I was questioning the response on my first post."

But why ask at all?

Why do you care if other people shower more frequently or less often than you or change their bedding more frequently or less often than you?

hottchocolatte · 14/04/2024 16:26

I commented above I'm every 1-2 weeks (pillowcases more often) but this thread inspired me to do the protectors as well today!

kitsuneghost · 14/04/2024 17:40

Once every 2 months. No-one has died

Personally I change towels if anyone not from our household has used them and I have to clean the bathroom too but I have a bit of OCD

Probably more like monthly for me unless it’s a hot summer - then it’s fortnightly.

ApricotsAndPlums · 14/04/2024 21:25

Once every 3 weeks or so (sooner if I have a bad cold). Once a week seems mental to me! I never sleep naked though.
