Towels after every use??? You do realise towels are drying clean bodies don't you?

You do know that I have stopped doing that..... so moot point.

Bedding and towels twice a week

fieldsofbutterflies · 14/04/2024 08:18

Once a week on a Friday.
Towels are also once a week on a Thursday.

doitwithlove · 14/04/2024 08:20

Once a week 🧺

Createausername1970 · 14/04/2024 08:20

I aim for weekly. Easier to achieve in the summer when I can peg it out. More like fortnightly in the winter if it's drying on airers.

marshmallowfinder · 14/04/2024 08:22

Alwaysalwayscold · 14/04/2024 08:10

Every Monday.

And FWIW I also wash towels after every use OP.

What a pointless waste. Even hand towels? 🙄

Aim for weekly, sometimes this slips to fortnightly.

Me too! The week goes too quick

avocadotofu · 14/04/2024 08:22

Once a week. Our cleaner changes our bedding for us which helps.

MumChp · 14/04/2024 08:22

Once a week or if needed.

NCprivatelife · 14/04/2024 08:24

I think we must be a pretty scabby household. Kids beds probably get done about once a month, ours maybe a little bit more, but I don't have a schedule - just as and when it seems like it needs it! But having said that we are neither of us sweaty and we all wear fresh pyjamas ever couple of days. And the kids are young so often enough the beds need to be changed anyway because snot/spew/felt pen/whatever gets on them, so probably more frequently than that, but all being equal wouldn't be rota-ing to do it every week, or even every fortnight! Towels probably a bit more often, every couple of weeks or if we take them swimming.

My family was a bit "bohemian" about things like laundry so if something isn't actually dirty I usually think it will do 🤣 my only hard line is on the children's clothes, even for nursery - I don't mind paint-stains etc that won't come out in a wash, but I can't bear to let them out of the house in soiled clothes, even a bit of pen or breakfast on them somewhere - to me it equates to looking neglected, and I know that acts to make children targets for abuse as it looks like noone cares for them. DH thinks I'm neurotic about this (but then he does the laundry so bears the brunt of the consequences!)

Do not admit that you will have a lynch mob after you.

I have been told I am ruining the planet and have mental health issues, all as I like things to be clean.

Hand towels in the downstairs loo or guest bathroom that have guests/visitors/trade people using them are washed everyday without fail.

Aim for every 2 weeks, doesn't always happen tbh. Really difficult to dry it so I just CBA. Expect I am in the minority here though, I've seen other threads like this where people wash their bedding every day!

SpongeBob2022 · 14/04/2024 08:32

Once every 2 weeks.

It would be more frequent if I didn't wear pyjamas. I think once a week is fine too, though.

If you look online I think there'll be guidance that really it should be once a week or maximum every two. With towels it's recommended 3-4 uses, I think (I don't do this though). I think what this shows is that after every use is just not needed, but equally perhaps most people 'should' wash towels more than they do. But what is it that people think will happen if you don't...there are millions of people washing less frequently than what would be considered hygienic, but nothing bad is happening to them because of it!

QueSyrahSyrah · 14/04/2024 08:35

When we had a double, usually once a week.

Now we are staying somewhere temporarily that has a Superking it's once a fortnight as a) it doesn't all fit in the machine in one go, b) I don't have space to hang it all to dry in one go and c) I'm heavily pregnant and feel like I need two weeks to recover from putting the sodding duvet cover back on, even with DH's help!

When the weather is warmer so we're sweatier and it will dry faster I'll try to up it to weekly again.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/04/2024 08:37

Between 2 weeks and a month depending on when they seem to need changing. I’m the only one in the bed and pets are banned from the room. My daughter does hers weekly because she lets the dog up with her.

without fail

It is a fail though.

It’s an environmental fail.

It’s a common sense failure.

It’s not admirable or aspiring behaviour.

I’d feel sorry for you but it’s the environment that needs our sympathy.

mondaytosunday · 14/04/2024 08:43

When my husband was alive it was weekly. Now every couple occasionally longer. Should do it today in fact....

ViciousCurrentBun · 14/04/2024 08:44

As little as possible, around every three weeks in winter and two in summer. I like doing anything as long as it’s not a domestic chore. I also have a set of clean clothes on the go that turn in to my scruffs for a couple of days for hiking and walking.

I am retired before that I had six years in a nurses uniform, this was in the days of the belts with silver buckles so that was a wash every day. Then smart casual for most of my career.

Boomer55 · 14/04/2024 08:46

Once a week in Winter, sometimes twice a week in Summer, if it’s not at night.

hottchocolatte · 14/04/2024 08:48

I aim for weekly but it's often fortnightly however I usually wash the pillows and sheet after a week even if I don't get around to doing the duvet.

hottchocolatte · 14/04/2024 08:48

I need to get out of bed so I can wash the bedding!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/04/2024 08:50

Closer to 2 weekly. The beds do get aired every day.

hottchocolatte · 14/04/2024 08:50

@exomoon

I would do the same @Alwaysalwayscold if anyone else has used the towels otherwise I leave hand towels and bath towels a few days

hottchocolatte · 14/04/2024 08:50

Mean to say @exomoon That there needs to be a balance surely between environmental considerations and hygiene
