He DOESN’T own a scooter… just looks like he should

I posted this in teens without much response, so apologies for duplicate post.

When will he grow out of this?! AIBU to be a bit disappointed?

He’s 14, all clothes are JD brands mercier, hoodeich, zavetti. His recent purchase is a hip pack 🙄

I’m really not trying to be judgemental, esp to his face!… DH on the other hand just takes the piss, which I wish he wouldn’t do! But I know he’s trying to be someone he’s not… listening to travis scott and drill type shite music. We don’t live in a city or even a large town. No gangs round these parts

I hope it doesn’t stick!

My teenage DS used to walk around one boiling hot summer with a winter puffer jacket on.
He did like to spend time withr though, which was a plus.
Once we were off out on a bright August day, he in said puffer jacket. I said you're not coming out in that. He took it off to reveal a padded plaid long sleeve shirt.
He glistened all through lunch.

My 14 year old daughter has got into Japanese fashion trends, saves her pocket money to buy clothes directly from Japan. She has a dress that I can only describe as ‘little house on the prairie Goth’. Knee length black dress with lots of layers, ruffles and lace, wears a petticoat under it and has a matching bonnet. I tell her she looks nice and of course I’ve taken lots of photos for her to look back on a cringe at when she’s older.

Thank you!

I should think of the wins!…. He’s not in to football or watching sport at all! That’s my win 🤣

Nothing wrong with football or any other sport. My eldest was football mad from 7 until 16. He's an arts journalist now.

It's really normal, teenagers love to rebel against school uniform but then create a look which they all copy so they are all essentially identical. My ds won't wear any brands unless he's seen one of his friends in it.

Not exactly the roadman look but quite a funny watch :

This is my 25 year old son ! - skin fade and North Face jacket. I had NO idea it was a 'look' 🤣

You live in rural Cumbria so your son should dress like a farmer. See where I'm going with this?

Mrsredlipstick · 24/03/2024 12:18

My DD wore a sweatshirt to sixth-form with Dope on it, that was banned. She also wore Geek, barbie etc.
As I previously had a pink shaved side hairdo, dungarees and a fifties dress habit I didn't care.
As a mixed heritage family we've always been aware of stupid stereotyping. Luckily we banned any misogynistic music (our DD is the feminist police).
My son avoids his hoodie up though but the deep cultured voice surprises people sometimes.
And my husband still wears rocket pockets which I hate. These things are just clothes. Filthy lyrics are a different matter.

What a brilliant thread. My dds go to a really posh state school, out in the countryside, but we live in a particular scuzzy part of the inner city. They are considered very exotic for coming from the Bronx-of-the-Midlands. Their friends live in humongous houses, have horses, ski, the whole bit, and every single boy dresses like this. The wealthier the family, the more road man/moll thing they go. My girls are almost ladylike in comparison to much of what I hear of from inside the school gates.

I fucking hate football, and all it stands for so happy he’s not in to it.

Bit dramatic

I can't believe what nasty bastards some of you lot are...making your kids wear Boden!

Packetofcrispsplease · 25/03/2024 09:14

Oh it all changes as they get older and their tastes and music tastes change .
My youngest daughter looked incredibly pretty as she headed out to a Melanie Martinez concert wearing butterfly 🦋 hair clips , floaty skirt and top decorated with little fairy toadstools 🍄
or head to a K pop club in a pink bubble tea t shirt and care bear skirt

That’s so cute though and “ different “
