Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 17/03/2024 14:01

Well, it’s a reasonably amusing TV show.

Hedgerow2 · 17/03/2024 14:01

No

dottiedodah · 17/03/2024 14:02

There was an interesting one about Anne Diamond ,she went to view a house and was convinced the old lady who opened the door was a ghost! This was some time ago ,but still interesting

Def had experience with ghosts....

Isseywith3witchycats · 17/03/2024 14:05

yes havent seen actual phisycal ghosts but have felt presence of people and animals that have gone over to the other side

MartinsSpareCalculator · 17/03/2024 14:05

No. If ghosts were a thing, we'd be absolutely overrun with them.

OhBumBags · 17/03/2024 14:10

No, it's all a pile of shite and the people who like to 'recall their ghostly experiences', are generally lacking in both attention and personality in my experience.

I'd sooner sit and listen to someone telling me about a massive long dream, and that's boring enough.

I've told some of the stories on here already. I have a 225 year old house which was originally 4 so about 1000 years of human occupation in total which is fairly mind blowing. Some of the former residents haven't left. Some areas are more active than others but they seem to keep to "their" house.

They've been seen by many people and I've had a cleaner quit on the spot, she was so unnerved by the one in the main part of the house! I didn't like her much myself so I was quite pleased that the former owner shared my opinion. It saved me an unpleasant job.

Elphame Thats interesting! 225 years old .bet it does tell some tales .I was interested to read an old thread of Anne Diamond who viewed a property and was convinced it was the owner of the house as a ghost! I had a strange feeling when we visited the Tower of London ,just one room felt odd .Guess the history is so much there

No. I don’t believe in ghosts. Or fortune telling, speaking to the dead, telepathy, distance seeing, psychic powers or any other part of the carnival of nonsense that is woo.

I find it depressing that so many people continue to believe in ghosts, ghouls and the like.

GivingYourHeadAWobble · 17/03/2024 14:30

I work in an NT property that's just over 700 years old.

You wouldn't believe the ridiculous amount of people who ask if it's haunted.

Just WHY?? Do they think people never die in new builds, or blocks of flats?

If ghosts existed they wouldn't be exclusive to old houses, would they? 🙄

And yet the last Maccie Dees you visited might've had someone die on the premises.

passthepenguin · 17/03/2024 14:34

No I don’t believe in ghosts. I am starting to believe in aliens though because of various things I’ve heard on the news and a recent US congressional hearing. I think they are trying to get people to gradually get used to the idea without causing mass panic.

What makes you think they are? I know of a number of modern houses that have unexplained events that happen.

One of them I, personally, wouldn't want to live in. It was built in the mid 80s on an upmarket estate and looks lovely.

The MOD isn't subject to flights of fancy but I've heard more than a few stories about their family accommodation.

Microdisney · 17/03/2024 14:37

If ‘I read something on the internet and I once felt a bit odd in the Tower of London’ is adequate evidence of anything, it’s of credulity and an inability to judge your sources.

Marmut · 17/03/2024 14:39

I do. Although I would only confess if I can do it anonymously 😂 I had several ghostly experiences. So, I know it was just not a hear say. The first one was the sound do someone running on the hallway back and forth at 3 am, just outside my bed. It was there even though I was fully awake, so I just switched the light and put my headphones on. The second one, I was with my younger brother and we saw some kind of silhouette of someone (white robe gliding type of movement) entering our house early in the evening. But there was no one there when we checked. The strange thing was that we were in the middle conversation when this happened. For some unexplained reason, we just abruply stopped our conversation then looked at the silhouette at the same time. The other one was when I did night hike on a mountain with my friends. We walked along a route with cliff on our left hand side. Yet, along the route we heard heavy loud breathing coming from the cliff side. We all heard it.

decionsdecisions62 · 17/03/2024 14:40

@passthepenguin the more you read on this subject the more stranger it all gets. However when it's being debated in Congress you start to think what? Wait is there something here?

dottiedodah · 17/03/2024 14:41

Microdisney I visited the Tower of London in 2019.And unconnected to this was an article I read about Anne Diamond this week in a totally different situation ,re an old lady in a house viewing who may or may not have been a ghost .I am on the fence and was looking for others opinions was all.

This is the sort of thing I think in my head but don't dare type!

If there were ghosts, there'd be some evidence beyond "a feeling" or "something out of the corner of my eye". The only people I know who believe in ghosts are the definition of credulous.

dottiedodah · 17/03/2024 14:45

Here in Dorset there is an old road through Wimborne .It is known as the" Avenue Of Trees " people have reported Roman Soldiers running .I wonder if its real or the effects of 1 too many at the pub!
