No

dolskarella · 17/03/2024 15:16

Nope, absolutely no proof

You only believe in things you’ve got proof for?

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:15

savethatkitty · 17/03/2024 17:57

Have personally experienced one myself, so absolutely yes!

You really haven't

I work in an NT property that's just over 700 years old.

You wouldn't believe the ridiculous amount of people who ask if it's haunted.

Just WHY?? Do they think people never die in new builds, or blocks of flats?

If ghosts existed they wouldn't be exclusive to old houses, would they? 🙄

My dad built the house I grew up in, so it was new. And haunted.

Rosestulips · 17/03/2024 18:16

Yes I believe in spirits and souls. Have had a strange experience myself at school, and something which happened recently jus before my Dad died.

not sure about ghosts in physical form

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:16

There would be billions of them everywhere. It's nonsense. The human brain makes up all manner of shit

Prydddan · 17/03/2024 18:19

passthepenguin · 17/03/2024 14:34

No I don’t believe in ghosts. I am starting to believe in aliens though because of various things I’ve heard on the news and a recent US congressional hearing. I think they are trying to get people to gradually get used to the idea without causing mass panic.

Find the Ancient Aliens episode about Valiant Thor. Whether you swallow the assertions or not, it is interesting that Gene Roddenberry was roped in by the U S government to help acclimatise the general public to the idea of life on other planets.

By scientific logic and human rational they “would be everywhere”
But not everything can be explained by science. Science is based on human studies. Humans do not have the capacity to know absolutely everything about everything nor be able to explain everything. We are not that incredible and must keep an open mind about that.

Mumkins42 · 17/03/2024 18:21

Never. And it is so frustrating seeing these so called mediums making so much money. It's all nonsense.

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:21

Okay so what about all the ghost mice? And ants and horses, or is just the important humans with the massive egos who can't cope with the fact that when they die it's over.

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:22

Do worms have ghosts? Serious question to those that believe?

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:23

And bees, do they have ghosts?

HermioneWeasley · 17/03/2024 18:23

@Howbizarre22 you are right, humans don’t know everything. We do however know some things, and ghosts are incompatible with our knowledge of how the universe works.

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:24

I bet you think there is no point in a woodlouse having a ghost. So why are you so much more important?
Utter nonsense

IncompleteSenten · 17/03/2024 18:24

Maybe we see ghosts all the time but we don't realise that the woman in front of us in Tesco in her onesie and slippers is a ghost or the bloke in the off licence wearing Adidas trackies is a ghost because we only notice the Victorian ones rattling chains.

We should start randomly poking people in public just to be sure they're alive.

See now I'm going to have to go turn over some logs on my garden and poke woodlice.
My neighbours are going to think I've lost my marbles.

What are you doing mrsSenten?

Poking woodlice to make sure they're not ghosts my dear. How are your children doing?

Cleaningupthemess · 17/03/2024 18:29

I’d love to believe in ghosts. I love watching paranormal documentaries a films, but I just can’t actually believe they are an actual thing that exist outside of the human brain.

Ive had strange feelings in some places and buildings, but think this is more to do with my state of mind, links in my brain between things I’ve seen and heard on TV, read in spooky books etc, weird environmental and meteorological phenomena etc, than anything ghostly.

Iluvteandbiscuits · 17/03/2024 18:29

Yes, Seriously only last year I watched the ghost of a T-Rex stomp across my hill side, Im just shocked non one else in my village noticed it it was huge.

Just like the ghost of a prehistoric Megalodon shark my best friends, uncles, aunt watched swim over the fields by her house. Which was once covered by oceans millions of years ago. 😂

How do you know, when you see an ant, whether it is a ghost or not?

theduchessofspork · 17/03/2024 18:31

No

But apparently belief in them really went up during the pandemic along with conspiracy theories. So whoever said when people nothing they’ll believe anything seems to have been proven right.

Slightly less sourly, I spose people are hardwired to believe or want to believe in something beyond themselves, but if would be good if that need could be focused on more real and useful things.

Slippersareindeedsexy · 17/03/2024 18:32

Never seen a ghost. I've heard someone walking about the house at 3am many times. I've stopped going to check for burglars since there is never anyone there. My conclusion is that it's next door or I'm imagining it. DH often wakes agitated saying there's a hooded figure standing next to me or a little dragon running round the bed. Sleep apnea has a lot to answer for.

Exactly

IncompleteSenten · 17/03/2024 18:37

This explains the Loch Ness monster.
The ghost of old nessie

T0ASTER · 17/03/2024 18:37

OldTinHat · 17/03/2024 14:47

Too many to list.

I've posted on this subject many times.

I think that is probably something to do with your brain

VaguelySpecific · 17/03/2024 18:44

In terms of ghost animals you do fairly frequently see people claiming to have ghost cats in their homes, and the ghost horse features in more than one set of spooky stories in the form of headless horses pulling coaches or carting ghostly highwaymen about the place. So if you are following that train of thought then presumably you would get ghost ants etc but it would be less noticeable.
To answer the original question l, no I'm not a believer but I do find the subject interesting and like to spook myself listening to creepy podcasts when home alone!
