To be absolutely stoned with my 6 yr old?

We live a really normal sensible life usually. But my son has autism. I spent years without sleep , emailing schools, tracking his development .usually tonight is my night off, I work in a very demanding industry and I’m perpetually drained but dad has him on a Saturday night. I usually attack a bottle of wine, a Camberwell carrot and then just relax. Tonight dad is ill and I’ve been handed back my son , and he’s absolutely happy and gorgeous, and we’ve spent the last hour mirroring on the guitar. We’ve then had some food and I’ve just put him to bed .ive never been in charge of my son when im under the influence though. I feel like we’re fine. He is fast asleep and cosy in his room , im still anxious though. Obviously I stopped drinking and smoking when he came home. It’s just a weird situation for me, these two things are so dichotomised.

Reporting you to MNHQ for celebrating being stoned with a child. No one should glorify drugs usage.

Are you ok???

WandaWonder · 03/03/2024 03:31

Yeah I can imagine if this was reversed

'I found out my ex-partner did this'

You should be ashamed of yourself (if you are in the UK), you are partaking in illegal drugs and looking after a young child. I suggest you find something else rather than drugs to take your mind off of the stresses in your life - you need to as it's a very damaging and dangerous path to go down. You are meant to be a role model for your child. I have actually had very close family members go down the path of drugs such as cannabis, and it's safe to say that their children have been destroyed by their actions.

It's a fucking joint calm down! Not exactly hitting on a crack pipe ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'd be skinning up again now that I know he's fast asleep but I'm an incorrigible old pothead and bad at boundaries.

If it was an accident fair enough but personally I wouldnt intentionally do it as I'd never forgive myself uf something happened and I was too drunk/high to deal with it.

😂😂😂😂

Love the fact that apparently if you live in any other country, it is of course perfectly fine. lol.

Don't worry OP. It's fine. But you are asking in the wrong place and you'll get plenty of responses like the one above. There's a large section of MN who think you shouldn't even have a single glass of wine after your child is in bed just in case you might have to rush them to hospital. 😂😂😂😂

PuttingDownRoots · 03/03/2024 04:23

If this was alcohol, no one would be shocked.

Parents up and down the country are pissed tonight. Many probably in a worst state.

They are safe at home. Not in a drug den, or driving home, or at a party.

MariaVT65 · 03/03/2024 04:29

Sorry, being stoned (or drunk for that matter) is something I don’t agree with while you have kids. Lucky your kid seems ok. I’ve had take my kid to a&e twice and I’m really glad I wasn’t over any kind of legal limit to drive him at the time, or to be stoned while I speak to medical staff.

There is a difference though isn’t there between a glass of wine (still within the legal limit) and being stoned (not within the legal limit).

mydrivingisterrible · 03/03/2024 04:38

Hahaha, I bet you were a bit of a fun mum tonight.

Personally I hate weed but I don't think being stoned once in this situation is anything to be worried about.

I actually think a glass of wine has a stronger effect on a lot of people

I used to think like this until I read on here a single mother who has 100% care of her children, so she can never go out for an evening - hadn't for years.

I honestly think asking her to be tea-total for years because her ex walked out would be too much. I wouldn't begrudge her a glass of wine.

Also don't forget ALOT of people don't drive - I passed my test at age 35, and my mum and a couple friends never have

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 03/03/2024 04:58

hanginglikefawkes · 03/03/2024 00:09

@Sexisthairdressers yeah he definitely ate more shite than he should have this evening and it was a bit off piste. But as you say , he’s safe and asleep now. I’m gonna take this as a learning curve tbh.

I hope you mean: I will not beat myself up about this. But I will continue to restrict my use to Saturday/whenever his DF has him and won’t (intentionally) cause it to happen again!

I never said I begrudge anyone a glass of wine. Most people have a bit of wine, my DH does. (I don’t most of the time for various reasons.

I still think there’s a big difference between having a glass of wine and being stoned. Plus the kid will likely pick up on how much it stinks.

Tatonka · 03/03/2024 05:06

I'm sure it'll be fine, they're 6 and asleep. So many parents have a fair few wines at night so I don't think this is any different.

I expect OP is quaking in her boots with that threat...

THisbackwithavengeance · 03/03/2024 05:34

YABU to come on here and faux-bemoan being stoned whilst being in charge of your vulnerable DC.

Whilst clearly not giving a shit about the trafficked and vulnerable Vietnamese and Albanian children who've been locked in a grow house harvesting your 'Camberwell carrot'.

Grow up and stop taking drugs. You don't need them.

Josette77 · 03/03/2024 07:27

Girl, I'm a Canadian and weed becoming legal is one of the best things.

I'm also a single parent to a sn child.

I use marijuana for my endometriosis and OCD/ADHD. Usually only at night during flare ups.

My son is 13 and knows I use it for health reasons but never knows when I use it since it's after bed time.

We've discussed it because it's legal here, just like we've discussed drinking. I consider alcohol far more dangerous.

Don't beat yourself up, you're fine.

Most people on here drink and it's seen as fine. I drink once or twice a year and a glass of wine definitely gets me more tipsy than marijuana.

mumda · 03/03/2024 07:29

It isn't organically grown artisan stuff from. Jamaica anymore... You're supporting the illegal and vile modern slave trade.
And every time you buy some you put yourself at risk.
Do you drive?

Ummm first of all you have no clue where OP lives.
Second of all she might grow it herself or know someone who does. You don't know where she gets it from or if it's legal.

How do you where she gets it from?

Also what does driving have to do with anything?

She's clearly not driving right now.
