maybe - does it matter?

HAving a bigger car than you need is "showing off", as is having a bigger house, garden, designer clothes etc.

Basically spending money an anything conspicious that you don't actually need could be showing off. I just don't understand why it matters. You don't have to buy into it if you don't think its important.

They probably are but it is their choice. I would be quite happy to go as a guest as long as I wasn't paying!

just don't know why some, feel the need for such fuss.

I think different people have different priorities, we had a fairly cheapish wedding, but spent lots of money on our honeymoon as that was important to us. If they can afford it then it is up to them to have the wedding they choose.

You're just being mean! Let them spend the money on their wedding if they want to, they're not asking you to. Just enjoy it safe in the knowledge that it's what follows that is the important bit, not just the day.

codhotbod · 25/03/2008 13:06

bet the drinks will be really expensive there too

Whoever they are they are working hard for a reaction using a tagline with COD in it.

Sorry who ever you are, Cod can't spell, you can so whatever you were attempting has backfired.

I never really understood it either - I think it's just an opportunity to throw a party and the bigger the better, people want it to be a good one.

I would utterly hate to be the centre of attention like that though. It would probably kill me

If I ever do get wed it'll be registry office and down the pub on the back of a motorbike, but that's just me.

kayzisbroody · 25/03/2008 13:08

Looks gorgeous.

Its their wedding day, on of, if not the most important day of your life. If you can't show off and do everything you want when can you???

We got married on a shoestring, but I quite like lavish weddings as a guest.

Clearwell Castle is absolutely lovely, we've had a few weekends there over the years.

Go and enjoy yourself.

codhotbod · 25/03/2008 13:09

i just find it a bit ostentatious
