Has anyone else got this foul “cold”

Headache, fatigue, sore throat, fever. No runny nose but aching and spaced out feeling.

Started to feel a bit rough yesterday with a slightly tickling cough then last night felt shivery. Coughing lots today with lots of white phlegm. Had to bring out the tena ladies again. 🤦‍♀️😔

I don’t know, I watched a video of whooping cough and definitely don’t make that sound, but I am burning through the Tena ladies! I do have a weakish pelvic floor because of childbirth -can’t skip or trampoline either without an accident- so depends whether yours is normally strong as iron. The cough definitely affects that area, I remember the doc telling me to cough to aid the process when my coil was removed!

@AndiOliversGlasses I wouldn’t say strong as iron after a big baby 😅but I could go on a trampoline for example and can cough a normal amount if that makes sense.

It’s just these fits go on and on and you can’t even get breath in between sometimes. That’s when I’m weeing myself! But like you I don’t have the characteristic ‘whoop’ so who knows.

Almost a week in im still feeling crap, phone call to collect ds 11 from school yesterday as he was I’ll and DH came home from work a half day as well, it’s a bugger of a thing!

Well this sounds grim, I woke yesterday to the room spinning, so I imagine it hit my ears? That subsided and I dosed up and went to work but felt awful brain fog all day. I’m staying in bed today, hoping rest will get rid of it, I’ve got theatre tickets for Sunday, really need it to be a 48 hour rather than a week long thing.

Both me and dh have been ill the last week and dd now gone down with it.

I've lost half a stone so every cloud and all that 🤣

The fevers are also awful too! Wake up dripping and not in a good way!!!

My throat isn’t quite so sore today and I can taste again although I’ve not got an appetite (usually with colds I want to eat and eat), my ears are still blocked though and I’m still producing ridiculous amounts of snot. It’s not a sneezy cold but I’m constantly having to blow my nose to clear thick sticky snot (sorry for TMI!).
Oh, and I seem to have developed a slight touch of conjunctivitis in one eye too.

Amazon have just delivered a pack of Sudafed Mucus Relief tablets so I’m hoping they kick in soon. It used to come in a nasal spray form with worked well for me (my nose is always a weakness) but seems that’s been withdrawn.

@MadisonAvenue it is constant isn’t it I have never ever got through so many tissues and my nose and all round that area is red raw and now bleeding. Ribs ache from coughing and retching occasionally, no pee issues thank goodness.

DD had a normal temperature last night and I'd hoped she was turning a corner after over a week of night time fever and fatigue. She seemed to be doing better today. Tonight it was like watching a lightbulb go out again as she just seemed to click off and said she needed to go to bed straight away. Just woken her for calpol as temperature is really high again. Fucking hate this and the selfish fuckers who won't miss out on a sodding thing, despite knowing they're contagious.

Wish I could see an end to it! Still horribly congested chest, ribs so painful. I really really need to see a very poorly relative in hospital but can't tolerate a seatbelt. Missed adult DDs birthday too. Of course don't want to spread this virus around.
DH always says he can tell when I'm on the mend from illness when I start getting angry. Obviously such a change from my normal saintly demeanour...

Day 5 for me, I thought I was over the worst as I had more energy this morning but I've coughed up phlegm a few tines today and tonight my high temperature is back. My cheeks are flushed and my ears/throat are sore. I was negative for covid on Tuesday, I suspect I'll be calling my gp on Monday morning. I'm not going to get any sleep tonight

Covid was a walk in the park compared to this. I got Covid and then this 2 weeks later this virus from hell

I believe this is flu.COVID test negative hospital swab showed flu.Despite the vaccination still got it.

DH has had 6 days of it so far. He's asleep more than he's awake, coughing up brown phlegm (he's never smoked), sweating, shivering, red faced, pounding head, stomach ache, no appetite. Reckons it's the most ill he's ever felt in his life.

I have managed solid food couldn’t for 4 days.

I have made some boiled fresh ginger and then added honey to make a tea, that’s felt quite nice for my sore throat.

God, don't know whether I'm glad or not to have found this thread! Have been ill for a week and a half, had to go to the GP for a sick note today as have been off work so long. That wiped me out for the rest of the day! It's an awful one, isn't it? So sorry so many of you have it!

I wonder if this is what my little one has, he has the thickest snot I have ever seen and as he has an unsafe swallow I am having to suction him several times a night because he can't cope with his secretions. He is sleeping most of the day and has been spiking temperatures, I have kept him topped up on paracetamol and ibuprofen as he can't tell me how he feels (other than by crying which he is doing a lot). I am exhausted after several nights of very little sleep.

DS has been ill for the past month. Started with a regular cold, then turned into The Cough nearly 4 weeks ago which has upset his asthma. Since then, it's been a 75% chance that opening the front door will irriate his airways and get him reaching for his inhalers. He's totally exhausted, and his chest and abdomen are worn out from the regular violent coughing.

I couldn't get hold of the GPs, they had it too and had no appointments.

He's had steroids but there's little else that's really soothing it for him and speeding up the healing.

We've all gone down with another round of it this week to different extents. My throat's been at the sore/ tickly stage for a week but still progressing through cold symptoms with an added layer of being spaced out, dizzy and lethargic. DH took to bed.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Can I join the club? I'm on day 3 and it feels like when I had flu many years ago, but not quite as severe. Going to do a flu test later.

Week 3 for me. Keep thinking I’m improving & it hits again like a ton of bricks! Pain in throat was the worst - not a typical sore throat but like shards of glass further down neck kind of. That’s a little better today, but sinuses are now painful!! Seriously fed up 😟

Food is still tasting burnt. I have not tested positive for covid so have to assume this is another disruptive virus. I am about 3 weeks in, less phlegm now thank goodness but my ribs hurt so much. I think it's chostochronditis, I had it once before after a nasty cough.
