Has anyone else got this foul “cold”

Headache, fatigue, sore throat, fever. No runny nose but aching and spaced out feeling.

Hell on earth!

Im also extremely thirsty 😂

@Stressedafff thank you. She hasn't had that - cheeks not red and no rashes. Exhaustion and headache seem main symptoms. Person that passed it on had same symptoms but also vomiting on intermittent days. Apparently kids missed out on so much in lockdown that it's fine to spread whatever you like now (as long as their precious kid doesn't have to miss a sodding play date). It's one thing to spread things unknowingly, but this bollocks attitude by some since lockdown of deliberately hurting other people in the name of being social is just so shitty.

No I agree I’m getting quite pissed off with it as well. I can’t go into work if I’m unwell and or contagious so whatever people insist on giving DD I’m getting and sometimes missing out on a days pay.

@Onand i did actually wonder if it was covid as it feels Covid-ish, did a test yesterday but was negative so who knows!

I feel fine today, minus the sore throat 🥴

I woke up yesterday morning and knew straight away I'd be calling in sick. My body aches and I'm so drowsy with a high temperature. I can barely drag myself out of bed

still coughing this morning. im on day,, like, 15? i think. dunno.

It's upsetting my asthma, so i'm kind of.. is this still the cough, or are my lungs playing silly buggers, or is it both.

Broke out my steroid inhaler again (yes, i know i ought ot use it every day, but i have adhd and if i forget one day, i forget it for months before i remember again) but been having to use my blue one more this last week to get the crap up.

I'm assuming its turned into a chest infection, but no point going to the gp as its viral, so just dealing with it.

If you're asthmatic, I recommend your inhalers if you're at the early cold stage folks, if you have them, use them!

Yup, it's on my sinuses now. I never really used to get colds, I would get the first day of one, feel a bit headachy etc etc but then it would disappear. DH has got it too, DS has a stinking cough and has done for about 10 days. We are all still functioning, but a bit grumpy about it. DD has Covid about 3 weeks ago for the 3rd time, the rest of us tested negative though

Apparently whooping cough is well on the rise at the moment which is pretty concerning. I've always seen it as an 'olden days' illness like measles - but that's on the up too! I'm pregnant but not far enough along to get the jab yet so I can't help but side-eye anyone coughing and spluttering out and about 😅

Day 23(!!!) for my DD13... bad cough, now the snot... so much blowing her nose it is GROSS and now the cough has come back. No one else in the family have had it. So weird?!

It all sounds awful.

I have me/cfs so if I got this I’d be in trouble. I never got covid so I’d hate to get it at this stage.

I’m surprised about the whooping cough.

Also a bit surprised re. Influenza A. What’s the point of having a “flu jab” if you are still then susceptible to flu?

Dd2 still unwell. Now wondering if she has covid as she has had the shits today and that is how covid affected her when she last had confirmed covid.

Other symtoms, hot sweats, cold shivers, sore throat , bunged up nose and slight cough

I had it for two weeks and have been just about recovered for a week, but the cough is lingering and I still don't have the energy to do much.

Please see a doctor if you have a fever over 100f. I caught it and within three days it turned into mild pneumonia. I was hot and cold, couldn’t do anything physical without getting out of breath. Really snotty which made me thirsty all the time. I felt so ill I had to have the doctor out to me because I didn’t feel well enough to drive the car. I had a seven day course of antibiotics which worked really quickly for the fever but it took several days for the cough to improve and now, three weeks later, I still feel exhausted although all other symptoms have gone. I dread to think how I would have fared without antibiotics. I could definitely feel it get worse after three days, so I knew it had turned into something else.

strep throat confirmed for me today, think DD just had a virus. I’ve no fever just a really sore throat and swollen tonsils

If you get worse after 3 days and develop a fever it is well worth seeing a doctor. Mine turned into mild pneumonia and I was really, really poorly.

I’ve got some kind of awful bug! It started last Wed - fever, body aches, headache, exhaustion, feeling really woolly-headed. By Friday it was well settled into my chest. Saturday the goo started - runny nose, cough etc. So you may just have to wait a day or so for that joy 😅I still feel rubbish today. I caught it from DH, and he seems better now - I think it took about a week for him.

This is my house. Ds started with it halfway through half term, I can down with it last Tuesday, and DH on Friday. None of us are 100% yet, lots of early nights! I recommend lemsips!

yep my daughter came home from nursery with it and proceeded to give it to my husband and me. i then developed tonsillitis. i tested positive for strep A so assume it was that!

I had it on Sunday. Thought I was better yesterday, I feel rubbish again today.
I hate it, it makes me feel so miserable.

I didn't get the cough but the cold got into my spine and for two days my pelvis and the small of my back were agony. It was hard to move and I just wanted to cry.

Thankfully fairly short lived virus though. All clear after 10 days.

My husband had it first in our house around 12 days ago, he rarely gets colds and even when he does they’re mild and he just carries on but he spent three days in bed and was off work for four. He’s still not 100% now.

Both adult sons have had it too and it finally got me last Friday when I woke up with a slightly runny nose but nothing too bad.
By Saturday lunchtime I was aching and shivery and ended up sleeping for most of the weekend. When I was awake I was so very thirsty.
Now it’s developed into a horrible sore throat, snotty blocked nose and tickly cough.

It’s a bloody evil virus.

I did an antigen test and it's not covid but I'm back in bed, my temperature is higher than it was this morning. I picked at my dinner but I have an online Dr appointment tomorrow morning as I know this week is already a write off :(

Anti biotics given, if I continue to not be able to hold down fluid, throat and ears very sore plus raging temp. I have to go to the hospital in the morning

Day 2, I’ve been in bed all day. Zero energy. Aching all over. Hacking cough. Never had as much snot coming out of my nose. No appetite (no bad thing, I need to lose weight lol). Boiling hot then freezing cold. Oh, and I managed to piss myself a bit when I coughed violently this morning. Not tested again but this isn’t just a cold. Called in sick which they didn’t seem best pleased about but I don’t have the energy to get out of bed never mind work!

I felt the cold descend on me over a course of a couple of hours. Had a week with no sleep (3 hrs per night max) because of my coughing and the cough has finally begun to slow down. Still got no energy, sore throat and voice is going.

Really fed up and just want to sleep but have too much work to do. ☹️

I'm on week 3 of this ... no taste or smell for nearly 3 weeks but able to go to work ... just feel shit. When will it go?

Yup, mine started today and I've taken myself to bed. Sore throat, headache and the shivers - looks like Ive got it for a while. Wishing you all better!
