Anyone hate these posts?

  • really really really long posts
  • long posts with NO paragraphs
  • posts which start ‘ I have a friend, let’s call her Jane; her DH, let’s call him Sam… you can’t bloody well follow the post. Much easier just to say Friend and DH.
Any others? 😊

@Porfirio
You just know if those were posts you'd have the excusers, the driver was perhaps having a day of self
reflection and didn't see you and anyway why are you important?, the neighbour is elderly (60)! there's always one excusing dreadful behaviour on here.

A parking one!!!!!
A shopping one!!!!!
A toilet one!!!!!

No idea why this style of thread title annoys me, but it does!!!!!!!!!!

It is annoying because it's useless. 'Neighbour parking on my drive' or 'Shopping in X supermarket is too expensive' is useful because it tells you what the thread is about.

Porfirio · 25/02/2024 23:18

There are an unbelievable amount of spineless women on here who apparently won't say boo to a goose!

'I was on the school run when a truck mounted the pavement and knocked my pram into a hedge and we've spent six hours in A&E and baby has a concussion. Should I have said anything to the driver?'

Our neighbour for the past thirty years has parked on my drive. We have to park three miles away to find the nearest space and walk back home. I'm not sure if I should mention it next time I see him?'

'My boyfriends ex wife came up to me in town and stabbed me. Should I tell the police or will he think I'm just being jealous?'

That kind of nonsense.

So funny but so true! 🤭🤭

When I first joined Mumsnet I read a thread where the OP decided to buy a new wheelie bin, rather than point out to her neighbour that they'd taken her one and she wanted it back!

True!!!!!

But I think it's also the exclamation marks.

They make the poster sound slightly deranged!!!!!!!!

ShelleyCarpenter · 25/02/2024 23:51

On a thread about someone well-known who has made the news or even died, a poster always chimes in to say “Never heard of him”.
Like we care whether they have or not. Google or keep quiet

saltinesandcoffeecups · 25/02/2024 23:59

“Should I report?!”

Half the time it’s something stupid and the other half there’s nobody to report whatever to.

“Last night I was kept awake for 3 hours because of a thunderstorm. Should I report this?”

“I was walking through the park today and a squirrel threw an acorn at my head, should I report this?”

This gets my goat too and I'm not American. "We don't do anything for Halloween. It's a horrible American invention".
So's the car and the modern lightbulb Sandra and I don't see you sitting in the dark and travelling everywhere by horse and cart.

😂😂 Laughed way too hard at this!

Ilovecleaning · 26/02/2024 01:37

PixieLaLar · 25/02/2024 22:17

When they use person A or person B, it’s usually very obvious which one they are anyway 😂

Oh, yes, I’d forgotten that one. I can’t stand Person A and Person B. As one poster says, it makes it sound like an algebra problem. 😊

People who say 'long time lurker'. It's OK, I'm not the MN police. I don't care! And you make yourself sound creepy, anyway.

DiscoBeat · 26/02/2024 01:55

And when someone famous dies. The OP has either had the post typed ready to go to create the thread that quickly or was at the unfortunately person's deathbed. It's not a race and I have the same news alerts, thanks. Go and be a town crier instead. Oh yea!!

sashh · 26/02/2024 02:26

People with loads of money complaining that other people get help

eg

I inherited a 4 bedroom house so I have no mortgage, my children attend very posh private school so why don't I get the £300 COL payment? I only have £5000 a week after expenses.

Unwantedadvice · 26/02/2024 02:47

When the OP says she 'told' her partner to do something and he doesn't do exactly as he’s been told. Usually said by a 'sahm' who thinks the world owes her a favour

RantyAnty · 26/02/2024 02:59

Any of the types of posts men make:

Man here
NAMALT
Actually
women do it too

Yep... not long ago I think I responded to someone who did just that with "there's always one". They seem to get a kick out of not knowing and telling us.

JanglingJack · 26/02/2024 03:15

Baby has hiccups - WIBU to go to A&E?
There is always one poster that says yes, you can never be too careful.

On the other hand...

Baby is blue in the face floppy and not responding, last temperature read 42.9...
Get to A&E NOW! Why the fuck are you posting on here?

MariaVT65 · 26/02/2024 03:19

Asking if a pregnancy test is positive - if you’re not sure, do another one, or stop testing so early!

Nub theory posts - can you not wait until the 20 week scan or just pay for one at 16 weeks.

Asking if you should go to a&e - if you think it’s that urgent, get off MN and either go to a&e or ring 111.

To be fair I did Google Huw Edwards arse before posting.
I didn't even post, it was all a bit of a let down. Flash us again Huw! Come back! We've all flashed our arses online at some point. Surely? Just me and Huw?.... Just Huw then. D'oh!

iwiporangi · 26/02/2024 04:56

'Didn't want to post and run'
I have no idea if you have read my post and then run out the door, nor does it matter! You don't need to tell me you've stuff to do

Exclamation marks = shrieking and CAPITALS = shouring,

Sometimes, I wonder if women actually like women at all! Then again, I think here, we are subliminally venting all the frustrations of women in society on women

Redglitter · 26/02/2024 04:59

People who post a text or email that they think the OP should send to the person they're having the issue with.

So patronising

TheWonderSpot · 26/02/2024 05:04

The ones where someone says 'I was walking down the street with my DD and a piano fell on her. What shall I do?'. And posters respond with 'you should teach your DD to avoid pianos' ; 'you shouldn't be walking down streets with your DD'; 'teach her to be more resilient to pianos'.

(Yes, wildly exaggerated example but you get the gist🤣)

iwiporangi · 26/02/2024 05:15

On the telly adddicts forum where OP will cut and paste from some digital tv giude, the burb about the programme, cast, times, etc. Then they '@' several hundred other MNs just in case they didn't know it was on...
It makes it seem a club you are excluded from ( altho to be fair, most posts in telly addicts are about programmes I wouldn't watch anyway!)

TempleOfBloom · 26/02/2024 05:16

Isittimeformynapyet · 25/02/2024 23:33

Do what exactly though? List things? Use bullet points?

Maybe it should be obvious to me, but I don't know what you mean.

Quote the OP

Ilovecleaning · 26/02/2024 05:21

I am enjoying all these replies. Thank you 😀. Looks like most of us find the same kinds of things irritating.
The badly spelled and punctuated are distracting too, but I am an insufferable snob. I try and fail not to be judgmental about your/you’re, lead/led and daughter-in-lawS 🤮

What are potty shots? I have a terrible vision of what they might be, but...

Usually an ultrasound photo up between the legs from underneath. There are supposedly different ways to interrupt the early signs of gender to see if you're having a boy or girl.
