Anyone hate these posts?

  • really really really long posts
  • long posts with NO paragraphs
  • posts which start ‘ I have a friend, let’s call her Jane; her DH, let’s call him Sam… you can’t bloody well follow the post. Much easier just to say Friend and DH.
Any others? 😊
OP posts:

The posters who insist that ALL/the majority of MN are middle/upper class, earn six figures, have houses worth a million. Very often these threads are underneath a string of threads about benefits, renters who can't afford to buy and people saying what a poor quality of life they have due to ill health, the cost of living, crisis and lack of qualifications and employment.

Oh and preppers who post about storing tins of food in the event of a nuclear fall out amuse me a great deal.

The Am I Pregnant posts where the OP gives the date of her last period, when she had sex, usually has a cycle of 27-29 days and its now the morning of Day 30.

Just do a test! Nobody is going to be able to confirm your pregnancy over the Internet!

Yes but they can't get out of the house to buy one because they're looking after their friend's cousin's cat who just tested positive for Covid, and their DH is away on business and anyway, all their piss has dried up so couldn't squeeze one out.

How do you not do that? When I come to quote I get this view....

It's all or nothing on app? Perhaps I've got an old version.

There is no need to quote the op at all. You are by default answering the op if you post. You only need to quote if you are answering another poster.

People who post on AIBU, don't like being told that yes they are and either flounce off in a huff or drip feed completely new info to bend the thread to their will.

And very pointedly only thank the odd person who agrees with them.

I have a new job (think finance industry) and I earn good money (think 6 figure salary) but I also have a hobby (think outdoors) and I don't get enough time to myself.

We're all perfectly capable of thinking, thank you! 🙄

🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

I find that amusing though.

crumbledog · 25/02/2024 22:34

The weird obsession with class and various ways different posters try to establish their middle class credentials.
My friend says using a tumble drier is common is she right?
Is cleaning before guests arrive working class and so on.
Insanity.

LightDrizzle · 25/02/2024 22:35

I’m probably being unreasonable here (AIBU?) but I hate the ones broadcasting “potty shots” and asking for guesses as to the sex of their baby, particularly if they’ve already had the opinion of the ultrasound technician, - it’s almost always when they’ve been told it’s a boy.

I know I’m being unreasonable because the main reason I’m annoyed is because the expression “potty shot” makes my skin crawl. More rational reasons trail in the wake of that.

Scampuss · 25/02/2024 22:35

People who post on AIBU without asking an actual AIBU question.

CrushingOnRubies · 25/02/2024 22:38

Posters who don't come back to answer or reply to question. Especially if there's 400 posts about it mostly to do with a vital bit of information missing

iwiporangi · 25/02/2024 22:38

Slightly tangentially, I wish there was consistency in the removal of comments by MNHQ. Yes, I have had some responses removed, which is fair enough, I can be a cow. However, there are equally cow-like (or worse) cooments within the same thread, or elsewhere that happily sit there forever
It seems the guidelines for chats can be very flexible

2Old2Tango · 25/02/2024 22:39

Thread after thread from women who list 100 things about their DH/DP's abusive ways and ask for dealing with it. It's very clear the OP is in a very bad relationship and every response is telling her to ditch the waste of oxygen bloke. however, the OP comes back with wishy washy responses, and another 50 examples of their partners bad behaviour, but just can't see for themselves how bad things are. I want to reach through the screen and give the OP a good shake in the hope they'll come to their senses and see what everyone else can blatantly see.

Edited

I suppose to some extent it depends on the posts that are reported.

iwiporangi · 25/02/2024 22:40

Yes, @ilovesooty fair point!

What are potty shots? I have a terrible vision of what they might be, but...

I think they may be an American import, and I have never actually looked at one, but I presume it’s the relevant part of the ultrasound scan picture to tell the sex

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 22:46

The ones who post about a ‘Hobby’ they babe but can’t say as it may be outing. Why? 😂what are these mystery hobbies

AdamRyan · 25/02/2024 22:47

Posters who post to say a thread is boring or "don't we have enough threads about this already?". Just don't read it!
Posters who are rude or overly personal when they disagree.
Posters who only ever post about one, usually political, topic.
And the absolute epitome, the men who flock onto threads about porn and prostitutes to give their unwanted and usually creepy opinions. Ugh.

Violahastings · 25/02/2024 22:47

When you’re totally gripped by a really intriguing and interesting thread, following all the updates etc then it suddenly gets deleted with a ‘MN is looking behind the scenes’ or ‘OP has some concerns’ message, and you never find out what happened. :(

SomethingDifferentt · 25/02/2024 22:48

I know I'm hugely fortunate to be in this position so I really don't want to moan...but can you please help me with a budget for our £120k household income because we're REALLY struggling 😢

Followed by a post listing the ways in which a huge income is being spent on hugely expensive things and the op's astonishment that 120-120 = 0.

Station11 · 25/02/2024 22:53

Mine are the one who say they are fat and they want to have surgery/take meds which have massive side effects when they could just eat less and exercise more.
And, yes both DS and me have the obesity gene and I watch what I eat and DS lost 3 stone recently.

Craybourne · 25/02/2024 22:54
  • People complaining OP has posted before, she’s been told what to do and still hasn’t done it, and is now posting again (eg is in an abusive relationship and hasn’t left husband yet and is still seeking support)
  • Posters demanding to know why OP still hasn’t answered their question. Sit down Paxman
  • Posters making stupid, boring comments insinuating OP is a troll
  • Posters who don’t seem to realise OP might have a life offline and also owes them zilch
IloveAslan · 25/02/2024 22:55

Posters who ask for advice, 99% of people disagree with what they are proposing to do but they still insist they are right. What is the point of posting?

Posters who drip feed important bits of information.

Youarenotseriouspeople · 25/02/2024 22:58

People who post on threads where the topic is very specific and all the posters are invested/interested in the topic and sharing info etc and the some idiot comes along and says 'don't get the attraction myself doesn't interest me at all' like really? Save yourself some time and scroll on......

LifeExperience · 25/02/2024 22:58

Mine is people saying something they don't like must be American. We've already had one on this thread. I'm American born and bred and I've never heard the term, "potty shot."
