To never ever buy from Snag again?

I'm just beyond disgusted and feel I need to vent.

I've always liked snag tights. I bought vouchers to save them in Lockdown, have spent hundreds with them. Liked their products and ethos- inclusive and female led.

Yesterday I went on their website, can definitely say it's my fault that I clicked on their NSFW collection, but I didn't expect what I found. Patches saying ' chke me' and 'cMSL*t'. Maybe I'm just a pearl clutching prude but I found these really offensive and not what I expect from a company with their ethos. I've put a pic below.

I posted in their Facebook group which I'm on highlighting that I thought this was a misjudgement on their part, that these were very misogynistic, and fed into a culture of violence against women which claims the life of a woman or girl every 11 minutes.

They declined my post and sent me a reply which I'll attach- I'm kink shaming apparently.

I find this really reprehensible and never want to spend a penny with them again!

I never thought I was prudish, whatever adults do between themselves is up to them, but I don't really want to buy from a clothing provider who is promoting this- aibu!?

Thanks for this thread. I needed the alternatives recommended. I've been uncomfortable with the adverts for snag for a while very sexual and the odd man dressed as a woman thrown in which is enough to stop me buying. but seeing the info here I'm regretting ever giving them my money never buying from them again. Choking is not funny.

No, the OPs comment wasn't about the adult nature, it was about the specific misogynist and violent phrases used on specific items.

Disgusting and YANBU, but I stopped buying from them years ago when it became clear they were captured by gender ideology (tights modelled by men) so this doesn't surprise me. It's all part of the same pervy, male-serving movement.

Sitting here in my Snags - I'm so dull I only buy black high denier for work😆- & I've been on the verge of abandoning them before due to their dodgy marketing, but this takes the biscuit. 'Better' tights it is. Fucking deplorable, Snag.

Given what I've read on MN there's no way I'd buy from them. I can't unsee the pic of a man in some lurid colour tights. Really bizarre. I can't imagine the market for men wearing tights is as lucrative or large as female wearing tights!

It's a shame because I don't mind a bit of honest marketing and Ive got money to spend on decent quality clothing or basics. A picture of a woman with a tummy wearing the tights would usually make me oh these tights are for me". Shrugs.

The cumslutpatch (not a term ive ever heard before) is bizarre also but maybe a sign the company looking to carve out a minority niche in sex stuff rather than grow into a bigger more profitable company with wide ranging appeal.

Wonder what their financial backers think...

If you don't like the product, don't buy it. You are kink shaming. Consenting adults can buy this stuff if they like.

I buy from snag and will continue to do so. I've no interest in bdsm and their NSFW stuff but I definitely don't begrudge others purchasing it and snag selling it.

I won't buy from them again either

Yanbu I used to buy from them as I'm tall and fat, I won't be now. I do love Sainsbury's for tights but wish they did a better range of colours. Their quality and fit are fantastic.

I was given a voucher for Snag tights- could not return when tried on so bought a selction of the weird sizes in the hope one size would work. They all rolled down, they all snagged and my nicely trimmed big toe nail poked through within one wear.

Glad I saw this thread, was soon going to order some more tights from them. Probably have spent a few hundred a year on snag, small drop in the ocean to them but having known a woman whose husband attempted to strangle her then claimed it was ‘rough sex gone wrong’ I won’t be giving them a penny more.

Will order from the place recommended instead, they look quite good.

I haven't bought tights for years (I wear a lot of long skirts/high boots so don't need many) but I was literally thinking this morning about buying some. They won't be from snag now I've read this. I hate to think of our daughters growing up in a world where this is "normal" 😭

Gotta say, I’ve gone right off them recently. Their glamourising of extremely fat models sits very poorly with them, along with their constant cry of ‘no size is the wrong size’ mantra. They actively promote morbidly obese women which nobody can say is healthy. I say this as someone overweight, I’m not sitting here looking like a mainstream model!

This nsfw, particularly the ‘choke me’ patch is appalling. Bye bye, Snag! Not getting another penny from me. 🤬

fat women exist. Very fat women exist. They are allowed to wear tights, and see models that look like them wearing the products.

Must say using v large models was what appealed to me. I never see what products look like on "someone like me" and its actually really helpful.

I think you’re very clearly and deliberately missing the point that I think they promote very obese women as being ‘normal’. I don’t think that’s a great thing to do and I don’t think-having been morbidly obese myself not so long ago-that being that size is healthy. You know you’re (not you personally as I do not know you) far more at risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart issues etc. God knows why I’m even writing this when it’s their policy of promoting this and saying it’s normal. Of course it’s not.
