To be disappointed partner booked "holiday" ?

So me and partner have 2 holidays booked this year.
Greece in September and a ski holiday in December.
I'm more than happy with this
He has now told me he has booked us 3 nights in Gran Canaria in 4 weeks
I questioned the 3 nights thing and he said they were really cheap flights (under £20 ) so he thought why not
Aibu to be a bit annoyed
It's a long way to go for 3 nights
We land on the Sunday at 10.30 am
We fly back on the Wednesday at 11.30 am

Would you be annoyed going all that way for 3 nights ?

Lucky lucky you-count your blessings, give him a big hug and just say ‘thank you’.

Redrum22 · 15/01/2024 19:00

I went to Gran Canaria last year for 4 nights and it was amazing! Totally worth the plane journey (even better if you fly with Ryanair as they shaved about 45mins off each way!!

ThatWardrobe · 15/01/2024 19:02

I've been for 3 nights recently - was a lovely little break. Enjoy your unexpected sunshine!

EC22 · 15/01/2024 19:03

Id be delighted.

Ohnoooooooo · 15/01/2024 19:04

We have twice gone to Gran Canaria for winter sun for 3-4 days highly recommend it

Madamum18 · 15/01/2024 19:12

Airport is a 25 min taxi ride away but flight is 6 am so will need to book hotel
On way back the flight is to a airport 2 hours away from home
So he's booked a hotel for that night in that city then come home via train next day
It's a lot

Why do you need to book a hotel? It seems mad if you're going to have to leave around 4/4.30 am. Why not just book a taxi from your house?

Oopydoops · 15/01/2024 19:17

First World problems right there.

masterblaster · 15/01/2024 19:23

This whole thread is why climate change will screw us as a species.

Royalbloo · 15/01/2024 19:25

Omg why are you annoyed?!!!

brainworms · 15/01/2024 19:27

So you're having three holidays this year, and you're complaining?

Wow.

Showmethemoneyyy · 15/01/2024 19:30

Having not had a holiday since 2018, I’d be absolutely delighted with this..

Carlosi456 · 15/01/2024 19:32

It's a bit heavy on the carbon footprint. Isn't there a climate emergency?
Perhaps we should normalise more staycations to protect the environment for the future?

saffy2 · 15/01/2024 19:37

I would love my partner to do something so kind and spontaneous as this!!! Every single thing that we do with or without children is facilitated by me. He wouldn’t even think of booking a babysitter for a dinner out 😂

restingbitchface30 · 15/01/2024 19:49

I must be missing something. Your partner booked a trip for you both and you’re mad? Am I in the twilight zone?

CatsTheWayToDoIt · 15/01/2024 19:52

I’m jealous

munner · 15/01/2024 19:53

You're ungrateful.

Ilovecleaning · 15/01/2024 20:03

Go on the holiday and enjoy it. My DH has no money and couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery.

candlelog · 15/01/2024 20:09

Id love it but then I like spontaneous things. I often books things for dh and I as a surprise. He does the same. It's not controlling- it's a thoughtful thing to do.

I am a massive control freak and don't like people booking things for me without checking first so I'd be annoyed at that. But the actual distance wouldn't bother me, I went to Thailand for just a week before and to New York for 3 nights.

Three nights in NY!?didn’t you spend day one getting over the jet lag? That’s a long long way to go for three nights…

SadSack10 · 15/01/2024 20:17

If I lived 100s of miles from the airport then I wouldn’t think it was worth the effort.
Of the airport is close by then go and enjoy ☺️

Clearinguptheclutter · 15/01/2024 20:18

sounds fun to me.
I can’t be dealing with other people doing my travel arrangements though or indeed booking stuff without consulting me first. I’d need to get the time off work approved in advance. So I’d be cross about that, but not actually the actual trip

I’ve been to ny for two nights several times. Back when flights where cheaper
wouldn’t do it these days

CountessWindyBottom · 15/01/2024 20:19

Oh for goodness sake, talk about sucking the joy out of something! Your husband has done something delightful and spontaneous which will allow for a few days away in the sun and a restorative change of scene and you’d rather spend it in grim Leeds.

AllAboardTootToot · 15/01/2024 20:20

With all the threads on here bashing husbands, you ought to be thankful! I’d be thrilled to bits!
