To be disappointed partner booked "holiday" ?

So me and partner have 2 holidays booked this year.
Greece in September and a ski holiday in December.
I'm more than happy with this
He has now told me he has booked us 3 nights in Gran Canaria in 4 weeks
I questioned the 3 nights thing and he said they were really cheap flights (under £20 ) so he thought why not
Aibu to be a bit annoyed
It's a long way to go for 3 nights
We land on the Sunday at 10.30 am
We fly back on the Wednesday at 11.30 am

Would you be annoyed going all that way for 3 nights ?

I’d love it as an extra bonus! What’s bothering you about it?

Shoxfordian · 14/01/2024 12:51

No I'd be happy to have a little trip away tbh

BIWI · 14/01/2024 12:51

It's not that far! I'm with him - sounds like a bargain. You get there at a decent time on Wednesday so you'll have three whole days there.

Seriously. What's not to like?

I think YABVVU reasonable to be annoyed with him.

TokyoSushi · 14/01/2024 12:51

Nope, not annoyed at all! 😄

Bigearringsbigsmile · 14/01/2024 12:52

No I would love it
It would be a fab little break away

PPTorPDF · 14/01/2024 12:52

I'd be so happy with that!

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 14/01/2024 12:52

It is a long flight for 3 nights but tbf I'd happily go.

LIZS · 14/01/2024 12:52

2 1/2 days of sun, sounds fine to me.

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/01/2024 12:52

I don't consider Gran Canaria far at all. Certainly not "all that way". I think it's a lovely thing for him to do. You sound a bit miserable.

Beezknees · 14/01/2024 12:53

I am a massive control freak and don't like people booking things for me without checking first so I'd be annoyed at that. But the actual distance wouldn't bother me, I went to Thailand for just a week before and to New York for 3 nights.

Wheresthefibre · 14/01/2024 12:53

Don’t go then?

Luckydog7 · 14/01/2024 12:53

The flights are pretty short (4 hours) and depending on the resort transfer is pretty quick. We just did a week in the canaries and while yes it would have been nice to have longer 3 days is fine if you are happy flying.

The bigger issue surely is your partner booking things without speaking to you.

Escapingafter50years · 14/01/2024 12:53

I'd be delighted. Its an extra hour or so on top of flying to southern Spain but the weather will be so much warmer.

OldPhotosfromthepast · 14/01/2024 12:53

Sounds great to me

I have been to Turkey & some European places for a similar amount of time

Make the most of the opportunity !

highlo · 14/01/2024 12:55

Personally I'd love it!
I live travelling tho and even enjoy the airport, flight, buzz of going somewhere different.

It's the same amount of time as a long weekend and plenty of people would do that for a city break

Ktime · 14/01/2024 12:55

I’d go but for a week.

Luckydog7 · 14/01/2024 12:55

We drive to Scotland for a long weekend and it's about the same time wise as the flights and similar faff.

MorrisZapp · 14/01/2024 12:55

Can't believe so many people think it's normal for one half of a couple to book international travel for them both with no consultation whatsoever. This just wouldn't happen in my world.

Allthatglittersisntart · 14/01/2024 12:56

Depends how close you are to an airport both ends but overall I would just say thank you and enjoy it. You may really appreciate a few days of sun in Feb.
The demand for these flights obviously impacts the environment though so I understand if yoi are angry on those grounds.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/01/2024 12:57

No it sounds lovely! I was meant to go there over Christmas for a similar amount of time but I was ill and couldn’t go. I was gutted.

Your partner sounds lovely - and it’s great to be able to afford all these trips. Enjoy them!

I see your point if it happened a lot but happening once doesn’t seem an issue to me. And it’s not a crazy thing he’s booked or completely different to her usual taste in holidays - quite similar to her planned summer holiday in terms of holiday type.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 14/01/2024 13:01

I’d love that

Lighrbulbmo · 14/01/2024 13:01

You’re being miserable.

GreyhpundGirl · 14/01/2024 13:02

I've been further for the same amount of time.

Universalsnail · 14/01/2024 13:03

No not at all. If that's what's affordable that's what's affordable. 3 days in still 3 days.
