5 year old said something triggering this evening

He’s currently obsessed with killing and death in general.

He said “Mummy, I wish I would die” then laughed it off. I was so triggered I felt like I was going to burst into tears there and then. I felt really shaken up too.
I almost shouted at him “Don’t say that!” He just laughed and continued playing.

I’m also a believer in manifestation and speaking things into existence, which is why I’m now in a panic.

Oh gosh op you would not cope in my house . My ds talks about death /dying and killing alot. He gos into full detail about how he's goung to the gun shop. Describes how he's going to get there . Then he's going to kill me in my sleep . He's told everyone in the house how old we will all be when we die .

Edited

I’m not sure if I’m more alarmed by the OP or by this…..

Cosycover · 07/01/2024 19:56

If manifestation was real my whole family would be dead. And every plane I've ever been on would be at the bottom of the ocean.

It's just a silly thing a child said. Try not to overthink it.

riotlady · 07/01/2024 19:56

If you think him saying “I wish I would die” will make him die, can you not just say “I wish my son will be healthy and happy” to counteract it?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 07/01/2024 19:56

I doubt the OP will be back
we've probably triggered her with all our triggering trigger talk

Itsbritneybitch22 · 07/01/2024 19:57

@Savedpassword

They’ve triggered us all 😂😂😂

@Shithole101

Ermmmm what? I take it he’s a gamer? This is quite concerning still.

No hes not a gamer . He's 8 and autistic. He doesn't really knlw what any of it means.

I suspect that OP is a plopper

I don’t know what this means but it made me laugh!!

I've tried this with the lottery numbers many times over but it never happens

I know ! <Monica voice > It’s almost as if this manifestation stuff is a crock of shit, isn’t it?

lifelongwhatever · 07/01/2024 20:00

I think OP has written this post to take the piss out of people who believe in being able to 'manifest' stuff.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 07/01/2024 20:02

And take the piss out of all those who are triggered

I took my son on a walk once that he didn't want to go on, all the way round he told me all the ways he was going to kill me. Stones, sticks, knives.
I then bought him chips in a cafe in the cliffs and he said it was the best walk he'd ever been on!

SleepingStandingUp · 07/01/2024 20:02

If I could manifest stuff, my four year olds would be clearly spoken little angels. If they could manifest stuff, they'd love in the Paw Patrol tower but as favourite cats and Skye would take them flying

43ontherocksporfavor · 07/01/2024 20:03

I work with this age group. Last week a boy told me he ‘actually died’ last week. I asked him to repeat and he said the same. I carried in the conversation to try to understand and I said’ but you’re alive now aren’t you’ and he said ‘yeah but I actually died for real’ I mentioned it at home time to his mum who laughed and said he comes out with all sorts. It’s a very 5 year old thing to say. I think you need to address your own unfounded beliefs.

A plopper is an OP that starts a thread (usually a mad one), only to fuck off and never return

Testina · 07/01/2024 20:04

Manifestation is fo’ real.
I confirm 100% that OP’s son is definitely going to die one day.

widowtwankywashroom · 07/01/2024 20:04

@Shithole101 I think our son's have been separated at birth

StopStartStop · 07/01/2024 20:05

OP, look into 'children's past lives'.
My granddaughter, then around two years, remembered two of her deaths and a reincarnation in which I was a man.

ManateeFair · 07/01/2024 20:05

Deathbyathousandcats · 07/01/2024 19:48

Yeah, but that is really concerning though

It’s not. It’s honestly pretty normal for kids to go through a phase of being obsessed by death or violence. Not all kids do, but a lot do and it’s almost invariably harmless.

My DP, who is the gentlest person I’ve ever met, can’t even watch films with ghosts in them let alone anything with gore, and has to leave the room if I’m listening to a true crime podcast, found some of his old school work in his mum’s loft from when he was about five or six, and his writing book was basically just entirely full of stories about horrific fatal accidents and, for some reason, armed bank robberies. Accompanied by crayon drawings.

Good grief. How much woo does one thread need?

just when you thought this thread has peaked!

Itsbritneybitch22 · 07/01/2024 20:08

@Shithole101

Maybe explain to him what killing his parents in their sleep means 👀 I know many Autistic people and children and I don’t know too many that wouldn’t know what all that stuff you said originally means, where did he even hear it in that case?

Mumofmarauders · 07/01/2024 20:08

Duh · 07/01/2024 19:41

I suggest you manifest yourself to be less bonkers OP

This, really! I absolutely get why it's weird and unsettling to hear those words from your child's mouth. But most people take some time to find out what's behind the words (at this age, probably normal developmental stuff) and move on. You'll drive yourself absolutely crackers unless you sort out your own issues in thinking your five year old has "triggered" you because you believe in nonsense 🤷🏽‍♀️
