Dog poo in my bin?

smoreOre · 05/01/2024 14:55

My driveway is small, I can fit one car one and that’s it and the bins are at the side. I live on a tree lined street and have numerous leaves piled up mush over the pavement.

I constantly spot owners allowing their dogs to sit on the leaves on my driveway next to the bins. I don’t know if all dogs shit in the same place but it fucks me right off - I once banged on the window and the woman just shrugged at me.

Numerous times I’ve had dog poo bagged up thrown in my big which i think is absolutely disgusting tbh. I’m going to buy a lock for the bin.

Aibu as a dog owner do you put their shit in other peoples bins?

My bin is locked. It gives me immeasurable peace of mind

ShirleyPhallus · 05/01/2024 14:57

Personally I don’t eat my dinner off my bin and it’s far enough from my house that I wouldn’t care, but if you do then that’s fine too - get a bin lock and that’ll do it

StrawberryPavlova · 05/01/2024 14:57

I'd rather have bagged dog poo in my bin than the owner leave it on the path so I can't say this would irritate me too much.

Oldermum84 · 05/01/2024 14:57

YANBU - they shouldn't let their dog shit on your driveway.

YABU - it's a bloody bin.

MollsDolls · 05/01/2024 14:58

Whilst I can appreciate that it is annoying I would much rather someone bag up their dogs poo and put it in my bin to save me walking into it or rolling a buggy or bike over it if you weren't aware it was there.

LucyInTheParkWithDragons · 05/01/2024 14:58

It’s a bin! Really wouldn’t bother me.

Ive very close to a park and people put things in my bin when it’s out, probably including poo but I’ve never bothered to check.

blacksax · 05/01/2024 15:00

Some dog owners are such entitled gits, aren't they? They need to just take their dog's stinking turds home with them and throw it in their own bin.

NewYear24 · 05/01/2024 15:01

I used to find bagged up dog poo hanging on my poor old mum’s front garden hedge.

SummaLuvin · 05/01/2024 15:02

You will have loads of replies with people saying you're being uptight and it's a bin so it's in the right place and they have bagged it and better than being left for people to step in.

But for me, it's not on and really sort of turns my stomach. I don't have a dog and it seems intrusive and entitled of others to have to accept their excrement in my bin. Also "better than on the pavement" well yes, but the only choices are hardly left or strangers bin...

Now this would piss me off big time

Frabbits · 05/01/2024 15:04

It's a bin, rubbish goes in it and they get a bit smelly.

While people really should take it home, personally I couldn't care less if a bit of random poo/rubbish ends up in my bin. Better that than it just being left there.

ACynicalDad · 05/01/2024 15:05

Last year one of my neighbours told me someone's been putting bagged dog shit in my bin and was quite surprised I didn't care, better in a bin than on the streets, might be a minor inconvenience if I had to search for a ring or similar, but I wouldn't open the poo bag anyway.

Subsequently, I've got a dog, I rarely put it in other people's bins, but if I've been carrying it a while, am away from home, and there are no public bins close by, I sometimes pick someone who doesn't put their bin in after collection and stick it in there bagged, I think leaving bins out is a far more annoying habit.

Those aren’t the only choice though are they?

How about dispose of it in proper council bins or don’t be lazy and carry it to your own bin.

It did piss me off and it upset me, she lived in a very posh village where everyone says good morning to each other yet one of those residents was going around doing that.

NewYear24 · 05/01/2024 15:08

Maybe try putting a sign on the bin, ‘no dog shit and yes I can see you with my ring doorbell’.

Being judged by my job. My daughter was asked by a Head Teacher at a social event where her brother went to school and what mother did. She replied that her brother finished his education and was now in training role within the finance industry. The Head Teacher acknowledged my son was on a impressive career path. Yet when she told him I was a mobile hairdresser he was totally disinterested and said does she earn much. What is wrong with people. Why at social gatherings do people judge on careers. I feel If you aren't considered professionally educated with a degree or on a high power career path conversation uses stops as they move on to someone they consider them more of value to them? Do you judge what people do for a living?

Well I’m not opening my bin and studying it’s content. But yes when I open the lid to throw in my rubbish I’ll see the poo bag in there or I’ve seen people physically opening the bin and throwing it in there - as my living room is just the length of a car from the pavement.

Are you alright hun? We’re discussing dog shit not career choices.

I think it is wrong to put it in your bin. Possibly get a bin lock.
Also, I would clear up the leaves from the area near my property and put in the green bin.

But what happened to the dog poo?😂

Itiswhysofew · 05/01/2024 15:12

I couldn't care less.

LightSwerve · 05/01/2024 15:12

I am increasingly sick of dog owners, they should bag it up and put it in a public bin or take it home.

They should not be letting their dogs shit on your drive.

Exactly. The driveway winds me up. If I ever see someone do it when I’m already in the living room I now just stare them down out the window to ensure they pick it up.

MIL would shower her garden in washing powder / Fairy Liquid etc… Dogs hated it (I’m sure it’s toxic to other animals too) & her grass was covered in dead patches. But it worked.
