Dog poo in my bin?

smoreOre · 05/01/2024 14:55

My driveway is small, I can fit one car one and that’s it and the bins are at the side. I live on a tree lined street and have numerous leaves piled up mush over the pavement.

I constantly spot owners allowing their dogs to sit on the leaves on my driveway next to the bins. I don’t know if all dogs shit in the same place but it fucks me right off - I once banged on the window and the woman just shrugged at me.

Numerous times I’ve had dog poo bagged up thrown in my big which i think is absolutely disgusting tbh. I’m going to buy a lock for the bin.

Aibu as a dog owner do you put their shit in other peoples bins?

YANBU. Have been a dog owner, unfortunately not for a few years now, however I was never so entitled as to use someone else's bin and try to frame them as the unreasonable one.
It absolutely stinks in summer as I'm sure all the dog owners who think any bin is fair game will realise. Add to that, that some councils fine you for having dog poo in your bin. It doesn't take much to carry it to your own bin or a public one. We choose to have dogs, it's ridiculous to throw the dummy when someone doesn't want its excrement in their bin.

RosieBurdock · 06/01/2024 21:44

Yanbu. I wouldn't want a stinky bin and would get a bin lock

Plmnki · 06/01/2024 21:48

Don’t leave your bin out the front then? It must look hideous sitting right out the front of your property.

Maybe they live in a mid terrace Hyacinth Bucket.

mottytotty · 06/01/2024 22:21

Yanbu, OP, I like dogs but I’m not able to have one so why should I allow random dog shit in my bin stinking it up? Many dog owners are entitled.

Glad you getting a bin lock.

Can you block the leafy bit in a safe way that prevents dogs getting there?

never used to bother me until I had someone put some in my just been emptied bin, and under the rubbish that I put in over the coming fortnight the bag split and I had dog shit all over the bottom of my bin. Absolutely disgusting and cleaning it was nasty. So now I object strongly to anyone using my bin for their bagged up shite, they should carry it and take it home.

Urgh, how nasty. They want a dog, they handle the dog shit.

Janicepalace · 06/01/2024 22:24

It annoys me. I would never dream of putting my dogs poo bag in someone’s bin. It’s cheeky as! I get the points that they’re all bins but us the only other option for them to leave it on the pavement!? No! They can carry it all the way home and put it in their own bins.

YANBU - they shouldn't let their dog shit on your driveway.

YABU - it's a bloody bin.

If you get a bin lock, I bet they’ll just not bother to clean it up.

Can you put the bins anywhere else so you don’t have such a convenient set up for dog shit (leafy area next to pavement to go in with bin right there)? If not, I think you should go with the PP’s suggestion to put something down which would put the dogs off from lingering/shitting in that area.

feelingalittlehorse · 06/01/2024 22:38

Dog owner here- YANBU. Absolutely disgusting.

Nothing, and I mean nothing makes me more mad than people leaving their dog’s shit on the floor. 😡

And whilst I’d rather they picked it up, the least they can do is then put it in a public bin. If one of them breaks, you’ll end up with shit all over your bin.

Daysie · 06/01/2024 22:41

Follow everyone hem and put a sh*tty nappy in their bin- preferably after it's been emptied so they get a good 2 weeks of smell.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 06/01/2024 22:49

All of you who don't mind people putting shit in your bin, you've never had something split the poo bag and it spills out on the inside of your bin? The shit gets spread about by the rubbish when it's emptied, it can get everywhere.
Also, i can't be the only person who'se accidentally thrown something away that is then needed and you have to go retrieve it from the bin, what if there's then shit all over it?

I'd rather it's left on the floor where i can see and dodge it, than put in my bin!

Copperoliverbear · 06/01/2024 22:56

I'd rather them put it in my bin than not pick it up

It would have to be a soiled adult nappy to get anywhere close to the smell.

Kalevala · 07/01/2024 07:59

Maybe a big dead rat, it's just a bin right?

Where else would you put a big dead rat?

Your own bin

I haven’t articulated myself properly. What would you do with it if you found a big dead rat in your garden?

You’re going to compost it or have a burial now, just so you don’t have to say that you would put it in a bin.

Why would I say that? I would put it in my own bin, not someone else's. Unless they had dumped shit in my bin maybe.

Grimchmas · 07/01/2024 08:43

I'm a dog owner and whilst it's always tempting to put the bagged poo in the nearest wheelie bin, I don't, because I think that's cheeky fuckery. I wouldn't like it if somebody else did it to me, even though I'm a dog owner with my own dog's poo in my bin.

<Blinks vacantly, thinking of all the times I have indeed buried dead mice and hedgehogs in my own garden>

Why is it so weird to do that? It's good for the soil.
