Ugh men are gross

I say this as someone who would like to meet someone , but currently rethinking it...
I'm in a pub waiting for a friend for our annual nye lunch. A nice pub. In walk 3 couples. Roughly mid to late forties, all look nice and well dressed. Bit of chat and the women of the couples say goodbye and go off for a bit of shopping and will be back in an hour. Kisses all round, bye etc
Now the women are gone, I can hear everything the blokes are saying (while I'm pretending to read my book and go on mumsnet)
Topics they have covered so far (and I wish I was making this up)
1.One of them hasn't had a poo for a few days , went to toilet came back and showed photos of what he's done in the pub toilet. It was massive apparently and they all looked at it.

  1. They were all at a party for Christmas eve and a different friends daughter is definitely 'smashable' even though she is only 17
  2. Sienna Miller is fit and knows it so you could do what you want to her. They then were googling porn pictures of her.
  3. The band 10cc is a joke on the average amount of semen a man produces but the one regularly covers his wife back in it and there's loads more than that.
  4. The barmaid is too fat to shag unless you're desperate
These are normal looking attractive men who anyone would think look well dressed, seem like 'good' men etc but they acted totally different when their partners were here before they went shopping. . I can sit here and listen as I am fat and middle aged so invisible to them. I'm not a prude, but the switch was Shocking. Those women would probably never think their partners spoke like that.

Nonsense, anything said loudly enough to be audible in a not particularly quiet public space is fair game for eavesdroppers.

Pretty proving my point.😄

ForTonightGodisaDJ · 31/12/2023 18:01

Agreed. Like THAT's the issue lol.

There was a really good comment on a thread on here once that descended into whataboutery and women being scrutinised and men having poor behaviour the size of a juggernaut ignored. A poster just said "defend them all you want, they still hate you" and its really stuck with me ever since

ALongHardWinter · 31/12/2023 18:19

Unfortunately I think a sizable majority of men are like this. They're generally worse when they get together in groups.

MyCakeyBakeyHeart · 31/12/2023 18:21

Sound like absolute mega ladz, supreme edge lords bringing top bantz of the highest calibre to your local hostelry.

On the plus side they probably didn’t slag any of their mates off or discuss their wives’/girl friends’ genitalia.

Qwerty556 · 31/12/2023 18:22

Nobody is defending anything these vile men said.

You started a discussion on an open forum with a negative sweeping generalisation. People are free to comment on that; that's how discussion works.

That's horrible OP, those men are particularly gross.

Your thread title is also horrible.

I feel like I'm being gaslit.
Nothing about what they said is OK

I feel like MRAs have been flooding MN. It's gross. Anyways, of course you're right but is there anything we can do about it, I can't think of anything.

Chicca1970 · 31/12/2023 18:47

Most men are entitled, untrustworthy cunts and generally the only ones that don’t cheat are the ones who cannot get laid - there, I said it 🙌⭐️

Andbabysaid · 31/12/2023 18:47

They are gross. Most are utterly f*king rank. When you hear men in their 50s/60s and 70s perving over teenage girls (and boys) and they think it's okay 🤮 And they're not even the worst ones.

Hope all you parents of boys out there are trying to bring your lads up to be decent modern human beings unlike most of the male population.

I fear for my daughters, I really do 😔

TheaBrandt · 31/12/2023 18:50

To be fair the last two all male conversations I earwigged accidentally were sweet.

The builders working on our house topics
How to make the perfect lamb curry
bitching about other builders work
their kids (positive)
moaning about wives but in a loving type way

In a restaurant all male middle class men just talked non stop about their feelings and marriages

Surely to hold this view you must think either : a) a lot of women are easily fooled idiots for getting sucked in by these men, b) a lot of women just want a house and a baby and drop their standards to achieve it c) the majority of men are skilled manipulators who hide their worst qualities until it’s too late (for example mine held in all his farts for the first five months but could now power a small wind farm nightly!).

JMSA · 31/12/2023 19:47

I'm sure Sienna Miller would need to be held back from pouncing on those fine specimens Hmm

Dickheads.

Grotesque isn't it

newwings · 31/12/2023 20:15

A lot of this is men talking shit trying to act mannish, they'll be mostly have wives that rule the roost, they have to have some outlet to act hard and brutish.

PurpleBugz · 31/12/2023 20:20

And I bet their partners would be on her saying #notallmen when women post about how disrespectful to women most men are 🤷‍♀️

Fannyfiggs · 31/12/2023 20:48

lovelyoldtree · 31/12/2023 16:31

@Fannyfiggs yep, me too 🤣

I still snigger at the Fanny part of my user name 🤣

drowningintinsel · 31/12/2023 20:48

I've realized that my bil is like this. Openly referring to women as slags when he was drunk over Christmas. He just kept saying it. It was very odd but made me think what he'd really say if he got going! He regularly send husband pictures of younger girls and calls them slag's! I convinced myself he was part of incel! It's disgusting. I'd never speak about men like that.

millymog11 · 31/12/2023 21:15

drowningintinsel · Today 20:48 I am not expert but I genuinely think this is porn addiction talking

millymog11 · 31/12/2023 21:21

"When you hear men in their 50s/60s and 70s perving over teenage girls (and boys) and they think it's okay 🤮 And they're not even the worst ones."

This is the terrifying bit - I clearly recall as a 16,17,18 year old girl daily #awks conversations with much older men who literally talked to my chest and made no attempt at all to look in my face.

I spent all those years constantly working out how to avoid those men/conversations/situations and deliberately wearing super baggy clothes etc.

But nothing has changed really has it? So on the surface there is a much louder level of publicity around "this is not acceptable" but it seems most men just carry on as they always have and my daughter is going to face the same old shit.

it really is totally shit and what do you say to your daughter? "Oh yeah most older men are really thinking about sex in most conversations they have with you, you just have to avoid them as much as you can....."
Nice.

crochetmonkey74 · 31/12/2023 21:55

And to our daughters, speak out but risk danger, or kind of desperately hope some man speaks up for you. But even then he may be only pretending to be a "good guy" and be talking behind your back like this

OP posts:
drowningintinsel · 31/12/2023 21:58

@millymog11 I think I agree with you!!

MinervatheGreat · 31/12/2023 22:25

Tonight at dinner, I asked a chap we know if the conversation the OP had overheard was usual or common amongst men?

He is a retired chap who, all his working life worked closely with males on construction sites, from grass roots to senior management level. He said he’d heard some dreadful stories in his time, but had never heard anything to compare with the conversation OP had overheard.

Secondly he’d been involved in sport at ground level and higher up for most of his life. Never in all that time was he ever been privy or overheard similar such conversations amongst players or fans after the game, at the bar, like that which OP has reported.

There are clearly some vile men out there but fortunately neither he, my partner or I have ever come across such sickening talk.

Clearly, we’ve led a sheltered lives.

quarrelmerchant · 31/12/2023 22:27

But would admitting to that over dinner be the done thing?
