Ugh men are gross

I say this as someone who would like to meet someone , but currently rethinking it...
I'm in a pub waiting for a friend for our annual nye lunch. A nice pub. In walk 3 couples. Roughly mid to late forties, all look nice and well dressed. Bit of chat and the women of the couples say goodbye and go off for a bit of shopping and will be back in an hour. Kisses all round, bye etc
Now the women are gone, I can hear everything the blokes are saying (while I'm pretending to read my book and go on mumsnet)
Topics they have covered so far (and I wish I was making this up)
1.One of them hasn't had a poo for a few days , went to toilet came back and showed photos of what he's done in the pub toilet. It was massive apparently and they all looked at it.

  1. They were all at a party for Christmas eve and a different friends daughter is definitely 'smashable' even though she is only 17
  2. Sienna Miller is fit and knows it so you could do what you want to her. They then were googling porn pictures of her.
  3. The band 10cc is a joke on the average amount of semen a man produces but the one regularly covers his wife back in it and there's loads more than that.
  4. The barmaid is too fat to shag unless you're desperate
These are normal looking attractive men who anyone would think look well dressed, seem like 'good' men etc but they acted totally different when their partners were here before they went shopping. . I can sit here and listen as I am fat and middle aged so invisible to them. I'm not a prude, but the switch was Shocking. Those women would probably never think their partners spoke like that.

@GrandHighPoohbah when I was 18 my college friend got involved in a "relationship" with her dad's friend. It was a horrible and exploitative situation and her dad was livid with his friend when he found out. So many brag and posture about that kind of thing (not saying friend's dad did, I don't actually know) yet don't like them or their family being on the receiving end of the resulting behaviour. See also staring, cat calling etc. How many fights break out when these just a laugh behaviours affect "their" women (note " ")?

StaunchMomma · 31/12/2023 14:38

It's a really disappointing, yet incredibly common, thing. Many men are twunts when with their mates.

I find the worst thing to be that they don't challenge each other. Imagine being with a group of female friends and one woman saying another absent friend's teen son is 'smashable'! She'd get told what a dirty bitch she is REAL QUICK!

This is actually one of the big issues in dealing with misogyny on a societal level. Men will not call each other out on their shit and the result is that creepy bastards think they're doing nothing wrong.

Utterly depressing.

Not all men. But far too many of them.

Agree. There really are good men out there, but not enough, sadly. When men get together, they often revert to nasty, oafish, cretinous adolescents. A lot of men just never grow up. Probably why the happiest women I know are all single.

DrCoconut · 31/12/2023 14:41

@verv me too. Being an honourary bloke at work is a revelation. They do rein it in more now than they used to though, I think they've been told to.

millymog11 · 31/12/2023 14:41

If women did not get broody thanks to hormones I am not sure how the human race would continue to be honest.

All of the women being disrespected in the OP are women which the men will also blame or accuse of being heartless c**ts if those men feel down or feel like they cannot express their feelings for whatever reason.

I honestly do not know what is "in it" for women in sexual relationships after she has had children.

Gowlett · 31/12/2023 14:43

Them reviewing the poo is funny, but something my teenage lad-friends did (thankfully before the time of smartphones…)

millymog11 · 31/12/2023 14:45

"How many fights break out when these just a laugh behaviours affect "their" women (note " ")?"

But the resulting fight between men is not because they are protective of "their" women at all, its because their own ego has been bruised by their supposed friend being disrespectful about someone who happens to be a woman they are close to / is in their family. Its not personal to the woman and its not honourable in any way.

Men maintaining a front/image with other men is what its all about 99% of the time, nothing more nothing less.

In answer to your last paragraph-
love, companionship, someone to enjoy spending time with, shared hobbies and interests, grandchildren, time planning new adventures etc etc

"In answer to your last paragraph-

I 'spose all that is appealing if they can fit it in inbetween lascivious comments about various underaged girls they know and exposing their excrement to other men "for the likes".

Whyyoulyingfor · 31/12/2023 14:55

So glad I’m gay 🤣

BigFatLiar · 31/12/2023 15:05

Such is life. Get a group together of either sex and you get gross comments. When I was younger and worked in an office of women discussions would be of who among the young men were most shagable, how big their dicks would be, which ones they'd already had etc. I'm sure the men were just as bad.

manoffthelead · 31/12/2023 15:06

It is too obvious to need saying, but I can't help it - we are not all like this.

The thread title is pathetic.

It's also pathetic to tar half the human race with the same brush.

If the title said 'Ugh women are gross', I'm sure you'd have more to say about that?

I actually just wouldn't be so literal.

You know thread titles give a small hint about the content of the original post ? Or do you not bother to read those, digest the information, then form an opinion.

Georkkardnoir · 31/12/2023 15:11

This is what happens when men have porn addictions!

OhmygodDont · 31/12/2023 15:14

Get a gaggle of men or women together and often the conversation is one that would make their partners wince.

We just like to believe they don’t talk like that but of course they. I’ve temped in a warehouse and the open sharing of porn and who they would bang even when you know they are married is one thing. I worked there with my husband and the manger still popped up in my inbox offering himself up for my services as my husband boss. Gross.

But again a group of women I know and if single it becomes talks on maintenance men and I don’t mean diy jobs, that well if a married man offered it no strings they just want a shag as they are single. Eyeing up school dads in the playground. One particular tradie dad was often the mention of the group chats. He had a wife but it didn’t stop the conversations of what they would do to him if they could.

Genuine question, which percentage is, even roughly ? I've always wondered, and you're the expert.

I'm so sorry but this made me laugh out loud. But then I do have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy 😂

I read the list out to my DH and this was the only one he said might possibly come up with his friends when all together. Tbh, it made me laugh too.

Not all men are completely sex obsessed. My DH and his friends would be looking at porn, but it would be car porn. Proper petrol heads.

Not all men are horrible and not all women only want babies.

Sweeping generalisations there. My DH is my best friend. I married him because I wanted to spend my life with him. DC happened along the way. But even without them, I still want to spend my life with him. And I like having sex with him. It's great.

"Not all men are horrible and not all women only want babies."

Wanting a baby and literally just being horny because of the fluctuating levels of hormones in your blood stream at any given time are obviously two separate things. Whether or not you ever have a baby, thankfully for men a large percentage of women owe their sex drive to their pre menopausal hormonal state which allows them to ignore what OP describes in her first post and all the rest of that type of behaviour including outright hostility and lack of respect for all women in general.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 31/12/2023 15:24

@millymog11 you said broody, not horny. Broody refers to wanting babies. I am a mum. I have NEVER been broody.

SuitYouSir · 31/12/2023 13:43

The daughter thing is way over the line. That is disgusting.

Everything else on that list was bad but not that bad but this this is horrible

Blinkityblonk · 31/12/2023 15:35

I used to go around with a large group of male friends as an honorary man. All professional well educated 'nice guys'. It was a miracle I ever married after that. I would say most men are capable of things their wives don't think they are.

Qwerty556 · 31/12/2023 15:38

Interesting that a negative generalisation about women is deleted but a negative generalisation about men is allowed to stand.

Funny that.

Blueeyedmale · 31/12/2023 15:42

The 17 year old daughter comment is completely unacceptable.if I was in a group of men I would have to say something about that.but I'm not in anyway surprised none of them did.
