To find this a bit boastful?

I have a friend with an 18 month old daughter with her husband. They often post photos of her/them all as a family on social media, and I rarely seem to see this friend anymore but I know they have bought a new build home and her husband is in quite a senior position at work.
They posted a picture of their daughter yesterday and wrote a caption: "We are so blessed with our jobs to be in a position to provide you with absolutely everything you need and so much more!"
I just think it's a bit showy-off, yes it's not a big deal but it's kind of boasting that they earn well, and that it's only monetary things that matter/mean you can provide.

Yes its very twattish

GonnaNeedABiggerBag · 19/12/2023 14:01

It’s social media - people post shite.

Either ‘like’ and move on (so your friend gets the validation she needs) or ignore and move on (so you don’t feel like you’ve fed the beast). Either way, she’s doing what millions and millions also do on SM.

Mrsjayy · 19/12/2023 14:02

oh god did you screw up your face reading that nonsense !

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 19/12/2023 14:02

Yikes, how embarrassing for them.

Jf20 · 19/12/2023 14:02

Yeah that’s a weird thing to write. Usually I’ve no issue with boasting in terms of great weekend away, or kids achieved x. But that’s weird and twatty.

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 19/12/2023 14:02

Cringey and tone deaf!

LubaLuca · 19/12/2023 14:03

Yes, it's crass. Lots of people reading that won't have the money they do, so a bit of humility wouldn't go amiss.

Catsfrontbum · 19/12/2023 14:05

So crass. Honestly I find that post so grim I cringed myself inside out!

Ablondiebutagoody · 19/12/2023 14:07

They sound like a pair of dicks.

Sandstorm33 · 19/12/2023 14:07

Glad it isn't just me!

isthesolution · 19/12/2023 14:07

They sound v unhappy and keen to show the opposite quite honestly.

Devilsmommy · 19/12/2023 14:08

Oh my god could they be any more smug. Wankers🤮

Bunda · 19/12/2023 14:08

Urgh that's actually insufferable.

She can be grateful for her privileges without writing in such a classless and tone deaf fashion.

SquashPenguin · 19/12/2023 14:10

Give it a year they’ll probably be divorced 🤷🏻‍♀️

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 19/12/2023 14:11

This is exactly why the vomit emoji was created.

HelpMeGetThrough · 19/12/2023 14:12

Probably a couple of pay days away from being screwed if the jobs went, but they wouldn't post that one.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 19/12/2023 14:12

Cringe. Makes me think of the saying "money talks, wealth whispers"

I wouldn't dream of posting something like that on social media!

ManchesterLu · 19/12/2023 14:13

It is boastful, but I always feel that people who boast on social media are trying to convince themselves they're happy, just as much as they're trying to convince everyone else..

BigBouncyBaubles · 19/12/2023 14:14

How can people not cringe themselves inside out posting that kind of tripe? I’m clenching my arse in secondhand embarrassment for them.

#clenching #bum #makingmemories #blessed

JadziaD · 19/12/2023 14:14

I don't think it's boastful. It is embarrassing and twattish.

I suspect they genuinely do feel lucky and blessed. They probably thought they were acknowledging that it's not so easy for everyone else. Instead, they look like total morons!

The joys of unthought-out social media posts!

Frisate · 19/12/2023 14:15

That’s absolutely hilarious, they sound like complete knobs.

TheaBrandt · 19/12/2023 14:15

Sorry I would find that absolutely hilarious! Any other gems?

ManateeFair · 19/12/2023 14:16

It's very boastful, yes. It's basically just openly announcing to everyone that they earn a lot of money.

I don't agree with PPs that it necessarily means they're unhappy or anything like that. I'm sure they're very happy indeed. But it's definitely boastful and a bit weird.

mrlistersgelfbride · 19/12/2023 14:17

Urgh 🤮 hate that!
Talking about money on social media is in poor taste.

MeinKraft · 19/12/2023 14:18

Some people really need to learn to keep their thoughts in their own head. I remember a relative with an only child telling me, when I'd not long had my second child, that she's so glad because she only has one she can give her child everything he wants in life. I just replied that I'm not sure getting everything you want all the time is such a good thing.
